I believe that as the ships go into dry dock, new shower bars are being installed in the shower. I was on the Breeze in October and after 36 cruises, this was the first time I saw a grab bar in the actual shower! This was the first time I have not had to use my own grab bar. I still use the hand towel on the floor trick because sometimes those floors can get slippery. I do have some mobility/balance issues (not bad enough to have to get a handicap cabin) and the last thing I want to do is fall in the shower. I'm on a cruise!! I don't have time for that!!! LOL!

I have used the temporary shower grab bars (Amazon) and they have become part of my "cruise suitcase"! They really help me with balance issues especially when the ship is rocking and rolling. The other tip that I have is that I put down a hand towel on the shower floor to help avoid slipping. It really seems to help.

BD makes a really convenient needle clipper. I used it when I was on insulin and traveling. It is on Amazon and it's called BD Safe-Clip Needle Clipping and Storage Device and then I could just put the now needleless syringes in a baggie.

We always pre-order a 12 pack of water and a 6 pack of Ginger Ale to have in our cabin when we board. We never have had to order additional but I think you can order through room service during the cruise.

I, too, am fiercely independent but I have had mobility issues that have gotten progressively worse lately. I also suffered a heart attack in February and some of the meds I am now on really zap my energy. So instead of being exhausted and in pain, I decided to rent a mobility scooter for my last cruise in April. Changed my life!!! I was actually able to enjoy the cruise which I had really not been able to for the last couple of years. Going on another cruise next month and I am now the owner of my very own scooter!
