FWIW, I have zero interest in short Caribbean cruises for all of the obvious reasons (not the least of which is BORING "one and done"). Even the current discounts on Oceania Caribbean cruises that have had to dump Cuba are not enough to peak my interest. And I think you'll find that to be a common sentiment among many Oceania regulars.

Are going to Bermuda for Blue Marlin. 2 days of fishing.

The Oceania cruise was less expensive than flying and staying for 1 week.

    When is your cruise?

    Yes, St. Georges and Hamilton

  2. Think I know the answer, but......

Our only 2 Oceania cruises were on Riviera in the Med. We are going to Bermuda on Insignia in a few weeks.

Can't say enough good things about our Oceania experiences so far, and have a Marina cruise booked in Sept Amsterdam-Lisbon.

I assume the Insignia Bermuda cruise will be a completely different Oceania experience for us. More children,  more of a party atmosphere, perhaps less well traveled passengers??

If so, that's fine. Just mentally preparing myself that this will be not the Oceania we have come to love. Refurbished ship and the usual fabulous food will be great.

  3. Just back from the Riviera. We had adjoining cabins with friends, and asked for the balcony dividers to be opened.

We were first denied by the room attendant and was told to check with reception. Reception said that due to "safety and security" (whatever that means) the dividers could not be opened unless it was immediate family. Next cruise we will tell them we are brother and sisters..... :D

  4. why not just go to the source instead of some 3rd party site that may not be updated regularly

Thanks for the link. That is why I asked the question "Is there another source besides Cruise.tt where you saw that only one other ship was to be there."

The attached site is not update regularly either...…

  5. I see those ships in the port of Mykonos for 24-July-18 rather than 25-July-18. I checked twice just to be sure.

As far as I can see the Costa Luminosa is the only other ship in port with us.

    Terri

Obviously some bad info on Cruise.tt.....It shows the some of the same ships in Mykonos on both 24 and 25 of July and the same vessel twice.

23-Jul-18 3467Wind Star, MSC Lirica, Riviera

24-Jul-18 11510MSC Poesia, MSC Sinfonia, Celebrity Reflection, Costa neoRiviera, Costa neoClassica

25-Jul-18 10382Costa Luminosa, MSC Sinfonia, MSC Sinfonia, Costa neoRiviera, Costa neoClassica

  6. Terri, I received the same from our T/A on the schedule change. My question on the updated information for Mykonos was regarding the number of ships in port.

Is there another source besides Cruise.tt where you saw that only one other ship was to be there. Again what I see is 5 other ships totaling 10,382 passengers plus Oceania.

  7. I posted this on our roll call and thought it might be wise to post it here as well.

Just received an email from my travel agent. The ports of Santorini and Mykonos have been swapped.

This is really good. We are now the only ship in port in Santorini. The original day had six ships in port.

In Mykonos, there is only one other ship in port rather than three on our original day.

    So our new schedule is:

Santorini --July 23--8 am to 6 pm--No other ships in port. (tender)

    Mykonos-- July 25--8 am to 6 pm--(tender)

One other ship in port-- Costa Luminosa (2800 passengers) I assume they will be docking.

Hope this helps everyone, especially those with private tours arranged in these ports.

    Terri

Here is what I am seeing from Cruise.TT for Mykonos:

25-Jul-18 10382Costa Luminosa, MSC Sinfonia, MSC Sinfonia, Costa neoRiviera, Costa neoClassica

Apart from Oceania, 5 ships with 10,382 passengers.

Am I looking at it wrong....

  8. This was briefly brought up on another cruise line board.

We have an arrival into Athens airport at 9:00am. Our boarding documentation will say our cruise ship boarding time is 1:00pm. Our plan was to get to the terminal at 11:00 (ish) and just hang out until they let us board.

It was mentioned that we would not be allowed into the port by the gate security until our official boarding time of 1:00. And that people were turned away and not let in.

Would like to know if this is definitely what will happen. If so, then we will just wait at the airport and get to the port later.

    thanks for any help.

  9. There is a fence between the street where the x96 runs and the piers, with entrance through various dock gates. Cruise Terminal A in Piraeus is at Gate 11, and the lesser-used Cruise Terminal B is at Gate 12. The ferries are at the lower-numbered gates further inside the harbor.

Thanks, that helps explain it. I also looked at a map which shows the x96 stop and where the terminal buildings are located. Looks like quite a haul, and you still need to get past the gate security.

  10. Besides Australia where I don’t recommend showing up , is Athens. There one has to pass through a gate to get into harbor area. Our cab got to that gate and the gate guards were checking cruise documents. There where two other cruise ships in the harbor. We got there at 3:30 , with 1:00 boarding times and were waved through. Once aboard we learned that others attempting to board early were turned away at that gate. They weren’t allowed in until their documented boarding time. If they had foolishly gotten out of the cab to wait along the sidewalks, it was at least a kilometer to get to the ship from the gate.

One never knows before hand what the rules are. I’d vote to abide by your boarding document.

Have others experienced this in Athens? Our flight arrives at 9:00am, boarding time would be 1:00pm. My plan was to head to the port early (11 ish) and just wait in the terminal until we were allowed to board.

If we can not even get in the gate, then the only option I can see is to waste 3 hours in the Athens airport.....

  11. Some additional info on the differences.

The layout and amenities on the Riviera mirror the Marina, but there are subtle changes. Kunal Kamlani, Oceania’s president and COO of parent company Prestige Cruise Holdings, said there were 727 changes from the Marina’s blueprint.

“They were all small things,” Kamlani said during a media lunch on May 8. “For example, we made the showers bigger. Guests on the Marina had been saying that if they dropped a bar of soap in the shower they wouldn’t be able to pick it up. We also added a hand-held shower to the bathtubs.”

Kamlani said he reads every letter or note sent to Oceania’s customer service department and often acts on those suggestions and on feedback from agents.

Other differences on the Riviera include a few inches added to spaces here and there, the placement of a bedside electrical outlet and some lighting changes.

The builder that constructed both ships, Fincantieri’s yard in Genoa, Italy, got most of the details just right, said Frank Del Rio, chairman and CEO of Prestige.

“When we took delivery of the Marina last year, we had 2,200 warranty claims with the shipyard for [things that weren’t perfect]. With Riviera, we’ve had three,” he said.

“That’s about as flawless as flawless gets,” Del Rio said.
