  1. The best excursion in the Caribbean is in st Martin.. captain bob's speed boat excursion, it's a 5 min Walk from the Port, it goes All over the island and stop's at different beaches and a couple of stops to snorkel.. great fun, food and drinks provided, it's a family run company and has been in business for a long time. Captain Brett is Bob's son and now runs it and is alot of fun.. look it up, you will be back in plenty of time to board the ship.. Best excursion in the Caribbean..

I have read both threads on the Haven; thank you, Sthrngary, for starting and moderating them so people new to cruising and the Haven know what to expect. It's greatly appreciated.

I'm in a Haven Aft-Facing Penthouse 15th deck on the Joy next week and have two questions. Firstly, I have read comparisons of being in vs. out of the Haven complex, and the large balcony won me over. However, everyone seems to agree that it's a decent walk to the Haven, but no one says how long of a walk. How long does it take to walk the length of the ship to the Haven from the Aft? In my late 40s, so no walking issues; I just dread the thought of the walk back after a late night out. Secondly, since you have to pay for cocktail delivery, if I don't want the expense, how far do you have to walk to any bar to bring drinks back to the room?

Are you on the joy this Saturday, if so so am I, you could go up to the 17 floor. H2O bar is at the back of the boat ,it has a outdoor bar And is very popular (depends on the weather), then you could walk outside to the front of the shop..

    You misunderstand...

Is is necessary to use the word "Haven" to describe the concierge? Not a question of whether or not the concierge is necessary. (Notice that I didn't have to say "Haven concierge" in that last sentence)

Instead of saying "Any word on the Haven concierge?", could someone just say "Any word on the concierge?"

It isn't like someone would ask the latter and the response would be "Which concierge?"

    OMG,, 😂😂😂😂😂

Yes I got off the Joy this past Sunday. It was my first cruise since covid, my last one before that was in November 2019 so I'd say a pretty direct bookend of pre and 'post'. Pre it wasn't like every single meal was unbelievable but there were definitely some wows and interesting options to try, this time it kinda just felt like Dennys quality with a quarter of the variety and a lot more, this is just plain bad, which, apart from some undercooked bacon or being extra adventurous in the buffet (my choice), I never would have described NCL food as bad or overall underwhelming before and I'm not a foodie or picky eater.

I should preface this with due to how crowded the buffet was and covid I stayed out of there apart from once where I am sure you would find the widest variety. Haven restaurant is notoriously lacking in variety but what was surprising was the lacking of quality. Overcooked tough meats, 'fishy' fish, bland as all get out etc. They seemed to be trying to compensate by massive portions. Meals on this trip felt more like something you needed to have in order to sustain yourself, not something to enjoy like past cruises. Best meal was actually at Taste and it was just one.

I also just got off the same cruise as you, did you try the specialty restaurant's, doesn't sound like it, they were great as usual, garden Cafe was crowded  just like any boat at sea,   I always go to the back, always less crowded and seat's are available.. food was fine in the Manhattan restaurant, not a 5 star restaurant but I have no complaints about the joy's food.....

I lost my husband almost 2 years ago and have been spending most of my time closeted away. We so enjoyed cruising together that I thought it would be extremely odd for me to go alone. But I am taking the leap and have scheduled the December 23 cruise on celebrity cruise line out of Tampa over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.  I am hoping to enjoy the time away to chill on the open seas and maybe meet other solo travelers. It might be nice to share a drink or two.  If you’ve got any tips for me please let me know.

Most holiday cruises are family cruises, kids are off from school, later part of June, July and August is also family cruises..🚢🚢

I went June 20-28th and had no issues.  Were there rude people, sure but that is nothing new - there always are some rude people.  Didn't know about the fight until read it in the media.  Everything was good.  I am going again on August 15th.

Don't go into it looking for bad since you will start the trip unhappy.

I'm also going the 15th, this problem has been going on for a long time, some parents just don't care what their kids are doing, mom And dad have a drink in there hands and Johnny's off playing with his new friends.. security doesn't show up till about 5pm when It gets a little cooler out, last week I was on the NCL joy, a 4 year old kid was Lost and a parent didn't show up until 10 minutes later, horrible,

I know, I know. The title sounds so pathetic, but I just got off a 4 night cruise on RCI Independence. It was my first solo cruise. I want to preface by saying I had fun and would do it again. However, the longer I was on board, the more lonely I felt. Again, I know that sounds pathetic. I’m not the type of person who’s afraid to talk to strangers, but I did have a hard time trying to make conversation. It seemed everyone around me were with family and/or friends, which is what I expected. I even went to different mingling activities, all of which were duds. No one showed. So, what are some tips you all suggest to combat the weird feeling of being alone while surrounded by thousands of people? I’ve got another solo cruise coming up in a few months and now I’m nervous if this happening again.

Just did my second solo, I would suggest that you don't cruise during the months that's  kids are off from school, that's the time families go away with their kids and other family members..

If you don't test, you're not getting on the ship. While Carnival dropped testing requirements, they still are going by Bermudas requirements and you must have everything in order before you even get on the ship regardless if your plans are to stay on board or not. When in Bermuda, nobody looks at your vaccine/test status nor do they even check your travel authorization. They won't let you in the cruise terminal to board if you don't have everything they require however.

We were just there 2 weeks ago.

Just got back from Bermuda yesterday, as said above, you will not be allowed on the boat if you don't test..

  9. I will be on the NCL getaway from NYC March 20th trip, we arrive in port Canaveral on the 22nd at 1pm, does anyone know what terminal the ship will be docked at, My brother who lives in Florida is going to meet me when I get off, thank you, Don

Unless something changed, you do not need a Bahamas Health Visa, nor do you have to pay for Bahamas COVID insurance if you are doing a one day port call.

Those of us who embarked in Nassau needed a visa and insurance, but that was to enter the country via plane.

    Thank you for your help
