  1. Thanks for sharing. I guess I am naive about European air travel; our travels have been limited to flying in and out of major airports on major airlines. I will definitely be doing more research before booking another flight outside of Canada/US. We totally expected this in Mexico, but Europe caught me by surprise. Again, many thanks for setting me straight ๐Ÿ˜Š

  2. In regards to your mother's flight between CDG and BCN; we just did this on a Vuelling flight last month in the other direction. I was not at allย  prepared for this experience; they ask you to get your carry-on bag tagged for cart service because the flight is fully booked, but, that is not what happened. Your bag is tagged, then you walk down the breezeway down stairs and board a bus with no seats carrying your suitcase, then you carry your suitcase up the stairs to board the plane and store your carry-on in the overhead bins as per usual. I hope your mother can handle all that, but I will not be doing this again myself; I am an able bodied senior and found this an exhausting experience. Just a cautionary tale..happy travels:)ย

  3. I don't remember exactly what the shuttle fee was, but it is not very frequent; we did use taxis a couple of times. We did have to wait until the appointed check in time - no early option offered. If you are ready to hit the ground running, I would look for a lugguage storage near the sights and head over the bridge when you are ready to wind down๐Ÿ˜“ This link might help you find options:http://www.reidsitaly.com/destinations/veneto/venice/planning/to_by_ship.html

    Hope this helps. Caio!

  4. Hello there fellow cruisers!

We cruised from Barcelona to Venice and stayed a few nights in Venice before going home. Venice itself was far too expensive for us after a month in UK and a 2 week cruise! We had the most wonderful experience staying just across the bridge on the mainland in Mestre. The hotel has a shuttle(limited)to town, so we spent most of our days exploring Venice followed by some lovely evenings strolling around the neighbourhood near the hotel. We found some beautiful gathering places where the locals hang out as well as charming restaurants all walking distance to the hotel. It was also simpler to get a taxi to the airport(closer) from our hotel..which was very nice and comfortable. Here's a link to explore https://www.ihg.com/holidayinn/hotels/us/en/venice/vcerr/hoteldetail?cm_mmc=GoogleMaps-_-HI-_-IT-_-VCERR

    cheers!
