  1. Honestly, I don't think the staff member who wanted to help you felt you were "wasting his time" at all. I would have just admitted that I didn't know what all was available to eat and asked him what my choices would be. I am sure he would have been happy to tell you what various items were available and escort you around while carrying the tray so you could look for yourself. They are very pleasant and helpful, in my experience. I went with a group of family members on my last cruise and I had a scooter, so I generally drove around and looked at the various choices. Crew members often offered to help carry a tray, plate items for me, But I explained I was with family members and just looking, and would send my family shortly to make a plate for me. They were very genuinely kind and I believe would not have hesitated to walk with me to the various stations and assist me even if it took ages.

  2. My family went on the Anthem last summer. Two members of the party have mobility issues and used scooters. They had NO problems going anywhere they wanted. One piece of advice, people were generally very kind about the elevator use, but we found that if the elevators were full it was often better to get on an elevator going the "wrong way". So if the crowds are going up, get on an elevator going down (and vice versa). They were usually empty or nearly empty, and of course would be going back up soon enough.

  3. I went to the craft section of a low budget department store and found some magnetic sheets that had a sticker backing. I cut out some pictures of my dog and made magnets of them. ( first time away from him- sappy I know). I thought I would put up a magnet of him outside my door to help remember which door was mine, but i have to say the doors were pretty classy and i didn't want to cheapen the look for others. And the room was fairly near the elevators so it wasn't hard to find, anyway. I did put up the magnets inside the cabin, around the mirror over the desk. Our cabin steward saw them and made us a towel dog and displayed him in various areas throughout the week. I thought it was fun. I even gave a magnet of him wearing a life vest to Marc and Hugo for their morning show shout out. They probably chucked it right afterwards, lol, but again I found it fun.

Do whatever makes you happy, and enjoy your cruise.

  4. she said eggs AND dairy. meaning a butter substitute- something to top the toast and baked potato!

Honestly, I would bring the particular milk you need and the margarine substitute too. Did you fill out the special needs form? Ask if it would be possible to have a fridge in your room to store these there. I don't know if the minibar would be cold enough for the margarine. Does the soya need to be kept cold in order to avoid spoiling? I'd take it in a cooler with plenty of ice if need be and store it in the fridge minibar. Maybe get a tiny tupperware container to bring a smidgen of margarine with you to restaurants, as well. Good luck.

  5. I went on a cruise in July. I choose not to bring formal clothing. On formal night, I saw many many people in suits, tuxes, and all manner of dresses/pantsuits. ( i avoided the MDR and bars/casino so they could have their dress-up fun) I saw them on the way to the windjammer and pool deck. They looked very handsome and beautiful. I was not jealous at all. I thought they looked nice and complimented quite a few. You will not be out of place. Go and enjoy yourself!

  6. I was on the anthem in July. On port days we went to a few trivia contests, we were able to sign up for the North Star, we went to the spa, and I'm pretty sure my brother did that indoor skydiving thing, forget the name of it. We went to the windjammer and didn't notice it being opened for a reduced time at lunch. Maybe different on different ships? We had no shortage of things to do on board.

  7. I was on the Anthem to Bermuda July 15-20th. They had at least three Bingo sessions at various times on our 5 day cruise. As Zedinc said, the packages ranged from $29 ( 3 paper chances) to $69 for a tablet that automatically tracked the game for you. The bingo markers were $3. They did a special $10 one-game-only Bingo (in addition to the three other full bingo sessions) before the love and marriage show. Shout out to Jacob, who made the games very fun, and Bernardo, who was so nice. Thanks guys!

  8. I was on a 5 day cruise to Bermuda recently and I was surprised how many people were wearing formal attire. We saw small children in Tuxes. I opted out as the formal night was also lobster night and I have a severe shellfish allergy. Still it was nice to see so many people dressed up and I must have complimented a hundred people on how handsome /pretty they looked.

And they did! They looked great. I was dressed in smart casual and avoided the dining room and the casino so they could have their fancy fun.

  9. We had to make a reservation online to sign up for MTD on our recent July cruise. I thought that was weird, as the point was to dine when you wanted, depending on what activities where happening on various days that interested you.

We made a reservation for the first day only. All that was available was the 8:45 slot which was way too late for us. That time was all that was available for the rest of the cruise, so we didn't bother. As it turned out, 8:45 worked out fine for the first night, as we were so busy unpacking and exploring. It was a little late but we went with it. We spoke to the hostesses outside the MTD dining venues (American Icon and Silk) and i think they changed our reservations to 8:15 or 8 pm for each night, saying they didn't have the availability to book us earlier. ( we wanted around 7). They suggested that we keep the 8:15 reservations, and just show up earlier when we wanted to eat. We did that, and honestly, we barely waited even three minutes before we were seated each time. We did have a handicapped passenger in our group, and they were very accommodating to them, so that might have fast tracked us a little, but really it was very smooth.

  10. Funny, this happened to us on our recent cruise. 3 out of 4 used the royal IQ, two on iPhones, one on an iPod touch. each paid 7.95 to chat with each other, none of us had the internet package. One of us ( on one of the iPhones) also got emails and such delivered, the other two didn't.
