My DH and I love a great beach day and we've been Antigua three times, and to Darkwood beach twice now - the first time was two years ago the last time was Nov 2017. Our first visit we were blown away by the beauty, the quiet (in comparison to many touristy locations throughout the Caribbean), the great food, service and reasonable costs of drinks. Our last visit there we noticed that they jacked up the prices for food and drinks, all of the lounge chairs were falling apart (and since we were the first couple there and had first choice of the "best" ones) and the costs of food and drinks had gone up quite a bit. Still friendly people though and an amazing beach location, but when we go back to Antigua in December we will be trying out Ffryes this time - our driver also said its a better location.

This thread has been AMAZING! Thanks to everyone that took the time and added all of their great hints. It took me a long time to read all of this so I can appreciate what went into it!

Another note about Duct tape: it's great for preventing blisters! If you have new shoes or you feel a spot on your heel starting to get sore or the strap of a sandal that is starting to rub then use the tape on your skin like you would a blister pad or band aid. (This is before a blister forms obviously! It would certainly hurt coming off otherwise. :eek:)

I've marched an entire parade in new dress shoes with duct tape on my heels and it worked perfectly!
