The only cruise line that I'm aware of that allows kids in swim diapers is Disney.

We sailed on the Oasis of the Seas last summer with our then 6 month old and there was a small splash area just for diapered babies.

Is the second cabin they gave you a studio?

Another question: (sorry if it sounds callous)  Is it absolutely necessary that the 5 of you are together?  Sometimes one person may want space...and  it may not be a big deal (assuming that an adult was booked as the studio occupant).

But...if it was booked as one booking for a "family cabin" it should have been changed as a family cabin.  The TA should not accept the "72 hour" answer.

We are 2 adults and 3 kids.  They will be 9, 7 and 2 at the time of the sailing.  The BL1 has bunk beds and the baby could stay with us in the large bed if necessary but we really wanted the 2nd bathroom.  They did move it to another studio but it's on the complete other side of the ship.

I think what I was looking for was if anyone thinks MSC will make this right or should I just give up.

Sadly, I think the TA is covering himself.  Sounds like 2 independent bookings.  Would it be possible (you don't say when the sailing is) to cancel and rebook directly with MSC?

Not until 8/2024 so we have plenty of time until final payment but the price has increased and there doesn't seem to be any studios available anymore.

What your TA "called" a family cabin but was not really according to MSC's terminology?

If it indeed were just two cabins you booked your TA might have better explained to you the real facts, what you booked and the T&C of MSC.

There have been a number of similar posts before and the base line is (Sorry for not having an answer more likeable to you): Whatever your TA might have told you, MSC always has the right to change your cabin numbers. Thus if it is one (1) family cabin it might be moved but should stay together, if there are two (2) cabins booked, they might be moved independently. It has happened in the past, it now has happened to you, and most probably it will happen in the future. Rarely, but sometimes.

Nevertheless, good luck in your attempt to get it changed.

The TA is not the one calling it/them a family cabin.  See pic below.  There are pics of these on cruisedeckplans.

This is what we booked.  Our's is a BL1 (aft balcony) and a IS (studio) for a family of 5.  I don't know if MSC officially calls these "family balcony" but I found the same terminology used on other sites.

Your TA should have a BDM to contact directly who can help with these kinds of issues.

Supposedly they keep telling them that it's in inventory and to call back in 72hrs.  This is going on every 3 days since August.

  6. We are a family of 5 and booked what our TA called a "family cabin" which is really just a 4 person cabin connected to a studio.  In August there was an itinerary change on our sailing and along with that MSC changed both our cabins.  They are nowhere near each other!  Since August our TA has been calling MSC constantly and their only response has been "this will be resolved in 72 hrs".  After 5+ times of them saying this will be resolved in 72hrs we still have no resolution.  At this point should we just assume MSC isn't going to do anything about it?  I know other cruise lines have executive contacts that usually help in these situations is there anyone at MSC I can reach out to?

  7. We just recieved another email from MSC:

    Dear Valued Guest

We are contacting you with important updates regarding MSC Meraviglia sailings departing from New York City on the following dates: 8/11/2024; 8/19/2024; 8/25/2024; 9/4/2024. Due to necessary operational reasons, we have had to modify the itineraries for these sailings.

    • 8/11/2024 (8 nights): Departure date does not change. Cruise shortened to 7 nights. Itinerary has been modified. MSC will recalculate the cruise fare based on the new cruise length. We sincerely apologize for the disruption to your vacation, and any inconvenience this may cause.

  8. It looks like the sailing is getting added and removed.  As of right now it is not available to be booked.

MSC just sent the following to those that are already booked:

"We are contacting you with an important update concerning your cruise which is scheduled to sail on 8/19/2024 from New York City aboard MSC Meraviglia. Due to necessary operational reasons, we have had to make some modifications to your cruise itinerary.

This is to inform you that your 6-night sailing on 8/19/2024 has been rescheduled and will now depart from New York on 8/18/2024. Please note that the length of your cruise has been extended to 7 nights. You will not be charged for the extra night. The itinerary has also been modified."

Sounds more like a charter to me. Hard to believe a cruise a year from sailing is totally sold out.

This makes the most sense.  There are sailings leaving this week that I'm sure are sold out but are still on the website.  This is completely removed.

  10. I booked a sailing for 8/19/24 on the Meraviglia but it no longer shows up on the MSC website.  If I login I do still see the sailing in my account but I cant add additional rooms.  Does this mean anything?  Should I be expecting a cancellation or change in itinerary?

  11. I'm looking at a cabin and there seems to be a symbol that isn't showing on the legend and I wanted to see if anyone knows what it means.  9294 and 9290 should be a mirrored floorplan but there is a symbol showing on 9294 and wanted to check if anyone has any insight.

It's the same cruise that has been going out with the same itinerary for months now. Oasis doing Bahamas.  So the weekly schedule is the same as is the menu, as is formal nights as is the entertainment which is why I'm trying to locate someone with the cruise compasses.   Thanks.

I think this week or next week is a slightly different itinerary.  Not the usual Sun - Sun 7 day.  Cruise compass might be a little off.

Hey everyone! I'm sailing on Oasis in August and after doing the online check-in process, I saw that our boarding pass had a different stateroom than the one we ordered. For reference, we paid extra for two connecting rooms on floor 3 but the boarding pass has one room on floor 3 and one room on floor 8. We already tried calling RC Customer Service but they said they can't change the rooms due to the ship being overbooked and they won't refund us the extra money that we paid. Is there anything we can do?

Something similar happened to me and I saw at least one other occurrence posted here in the past month.

RCCL doesn't care and my TA was useless.  If you're lucky they might offer a refund through the executive office but you need to contact them directly.

  14. I received an email to fill out a vaccination questionnaire but I think its more of a request.  I have 3 kids under 12 and we sail in about 50 days.

"Your sailing is fast approaching, and we're looking forward to welcoming you onboard. We would appreciate if you could take a moment to provide your COVID-19 vaccination status ahead of your cruise. Please complete the short form below.

NOTE: All Royal Caribbean guests aged 12 and older must present proof of COVID-19 vaccination with the final dose of their vaccine administered at least 14 days before sailing. While vaccination is not required for guests under 12, we kindly ask that you fill out their status below to help us ensure we are meeting the CDC requirements to sail as Highly Vaccinated. Feel free to visit our FAQs for full details on vaccination requirements."

I understand.  But respectfully, I think Royal has provided more than a reasonable accommodation given the situation.  If you feel you are owed more, I’d be telling your TA to cough up some OBC.  They should know the rules on this stuff.

By the way, in my experience we have always be able to add a baby to a maxed cabin.  Do we know for sure they moved for a legitimate reason?

I was told that the room has a pull-out couch and not a pullman which is the issue.

Can you at least put your self alone in one of the rooms to get double points for yourself,  which then indirectly transfer to your spouse and children?

Was so stuck on everything else going on I didn't know that was an option.  I could probably even get a drink package for just 1 person 🙂  Right now we are 2 adults in 1 room and 3 kids in the other.

Having cruised with a 6 month old and now 3 kids of similar age to yours, I would take two balcony cabins over 1

all day long (regardless of the location).  Trust me.  And if you are near an elevator that is a good thing because it means you are central.  You could far more center shop, but have a longer walk each time.  I know this isn’t what you booked, but in retrospect I think you will be happier this way.

I have 5 kids (and had them in under 7 years so close in age), I’d be thrilled to have 2 cabins, especially with an infant! We always do connecting, and it’s fine having little ones in the other cabin with the door open. And instead of being stuck on the balcony when the littles sleep, you can stay in a cabin, watch TV, shower, takes turns coming and going…

I appreciate the input and totally get it but in the end the single cabin would be preferred for us.

I am now very confused as the above says you are in two cabins and not one.  That is a quote from a different thread you posted to previously.  Your current thread says you were moved from one cabin to two cabins yet two weeks ago you posted you were in two cabins, not one.

That post was after they moved me.  Was still dealing with it at the time so thought my post would be helpful.  The cabin they moved me to is 8D.  If you are going through my post history you can see the thread I started in December (before the baby came) was resolved by adding the baby and keeping my single cabin.

Wouldn't they have an easier time and make more money selling the two lower priced cabins back on the market to two other families/couples, and the extra revenue in other stuff they buy, than trying to find a right-price buyer/bidder to the suite while occupying two cabins with one family?

I said the exact same thing!  I even did the math of what our 2 cabins would cost and what 1 suite would be and it was close to comparable.  I left out that the the rep in the executive office sent me an email suggesting I bid on a larger room.

In this case Royal has offered a compromise that many would feel is superior to four plus a baby in a single 2C cabin.  You now have two bathrooms, two king beds that can be split into two beds in each cabin as required and potentially more room for the portable crib than a 2C might have offered.  A 2C balcony may be larger on it's own but two 8D balconies may yield more space overall and have better seating.

The big thing for us is the large balcony and the location.  We have 3 under 7 and the 2 big ones end up in our bed anyway.  We frankly don't feel comfortable with them in a separate room even if it is connected.  The 2 bathrooms isn't important either.  With the kids going to bed relatively early, the large balcony was very important.  Also our new cabin is directly in front of the elevator which we purposely avoided.  I know some would prefer the 2 cabins but it doesn't fit what we were looking for.
