  1. Been there the last two visits to Roatan and Love the snorkeling there. The road construction was going on the last time there but did not cause any delays. Not sure how it may be now. I do know Im definitely going back to this beach for the snorkeling. Reef is a short distance off the beach with lots of sealife.

  2. Mitsugirly...this was an awesome review of a snorkeling excursion I was hoping to find a review on and Bingo! There are several choices for snorkeling in Belize, but your review of Rendezvous Caye has convinced me I need to book it. If I may ask, what underwater camera are you using? I have the Olympus Tough TG-4 and look forward to using it on this cruise.

  3. Oh good! Thank you so much for your reply!

You quite welcome... The Zip Line portion we did back then was on Victors property. Not too extreme per sa, but we still had a great time. It was our first time to do a zip line..:D

  4. We are thinking of doing the "Zip and Dip" which is zip-lining and then a beach day at West Bay Beach. Has anyone been?

We did the same with Victor Bodden's our first visit to Roatan and had a FUNtastic day! Lionel was our driver for the day, and took really good care of us. The beach portion of your day will likely take you to West End were the best snorkeling I've ever seen, is!

  5. Hi had a look at at Victor Bodden (think this is who you meant) and have booked a tour with him. thanks for the help:cool:

You will not be disappointed. Our first of three trips to Roatan, we booked with VB's and had a great day there. We did the Zip N Dip for our first Ziplining experience then the afternoon at Bananarama.Best snorkeling I have seen yet. Looking forward to our return trip this February.

  6. Just a quick update...for anyone not sure whether or not to take out the trip insurance, I'm here to say take it out anyway. I decided to take for this last cruise and it ending up paying me 97% of the value of my camera, so the new one is paid for now! Good to know that some things do work out after all. :)

  7. OP, I do hope you get your camera back. How awful that happened to you and I'm truly sorry it did.

I once found someone's purse in a grocery store parking lot. The person had left it in the front part of their grocery cart, in the cart corral. I took it in and turned it in at the customer service desk, but after I got home I was wishing I hadn't. Why? Could I really trust the customer service person NOT to keep it? I am not a very trusting person (really don't know why), and to this day I wish I would have looked inside the purse to find the woman's driver's license and just returned it to her myself. That way I would KNOW she DID get it back!! I HOPE the customer service person "did the right thing" and gave it back to the rightful owner, if the woman came back to the store asking, or got the address from the driver's license, or a phone number off a checkbook, etc. and returned it but I really don't know if that happened.

So, even if someone in the terminal DID turn your camera/case in to someone there in authority, you still can't be sure THAT person didn't keep it. :( But I do hope it finds its way back to you somehow.

This is so true Yvonne..and appreciate your thoughts. :)

  8. Public shaming on a forum for something you did after almost 2 weeks after the fact? Nice

Public shaming? really?!! I have exhausted ALL other avenues, I would prefer to think of my post as REACHING OUT, in case someone reading this forum may be trying to find the rightful owner, unless they've simply decided to keep it. Thanks for your negativity anyway.....

  9. Just putting this out there just in case whomever picked up my black camera case is a member here, (Olympus Tough TG-3,red in color, with all the extras inside the bag) and decided to keep it instead of turning it in. This occurred on embarkation day on the referenced date, in the New Orleans Cruise Terminal. I did have insurance and filed a Stolen Item Claim. I just still bothers me that knowing someone in the terminal would do this instead of turning it in. Any info. would be appreciated.

  10. There is a boat that leave for Maya Key from Mahogany Bay, if booked through the ship.

For me, Maya Key was a good snorkeling experience, but Tabyana was way better, insomuch as the water was calmer on that side of the island allowing for a better overall snorkeling time in the water. I would see where the vendors would be a problem, but I can't remember being approached even once while there.

Either beach would be fine for an 8 year old to play in, but Maya Key does also have the pool area.

Looking forward to snorkeling Roatan soon! :D

  11. I agree with Poobears....Port parking cost more but to us, is so worth it. Once you pay, you will drive up into 2nd floor parking where the Porters will take your check luggage, have boarding pass(es) handy, park vehicle and enter terminal for check-in. It's just as simple when leaving. We have done Fulton as well, but went back to Terminal parking for the convenience.

  12. anything we should be aware of? Food, drinks? beach towels provided?

Is there a lot kids/family type atmosphere?

Is this booked direct, or through the ship? Ohh ...i see...now...Thanks.

  13. We went this past Thursday, and it's a WONDERFUL PLACE! I suggest you book w/resortforaday.com. They provided an AC bus ride to/from and the driver was professional and prompt. It was about 20 min from Falmouth to the resort. Sad to say, leaving the port area on your own may be scary. The bus picked us up & returned to the gated port in Falmouth so we had no worries. The cost of transportation was included in the ticket. We absolutely LOVED our day at this resort!

Is the Pricing shown on resort for a day for more than one person?

  14. Sea Grape beach has watersport rentals, restrooms, restaurant/bar, and loungers/umbrellas to rent. All the beaches are public..no entry fee. If you want to use a hotel's facilities, you will pay for that privilege.

You don't need an AI....everything you asked for is right there!!!

This sounds pretty good to me. Hows the snorkeling there? About how far is Sea Grape Beach from the Tender Boat Pier?

  15. We had a first timer with us on our last visit to Belize and he wanted to see the Ruins and we had gone to Xunantunich a couple of years ago and he definitely was not disappointed.these ruins are awesome. The climb to the top of El Castillo is a must, if capable. The bus ride isn't all that bad, with the informative guides. The buses are,in fact, air conditioned coaches, and not school buses! We chose this excursion, through the ship, instead of getting off the ship and boarding back onto another boat for a trip up a river. The bus ride was cool and comfortable, and the lunch break on the way back from the site was delicious and filling. Upon arrival at the river ferry crossing, they load you into a/c'd vans for the mile or so ride to the site.

  16. I was reading about 50% deposit before, now with it being with early saver, can I submit a price adjustment for OBC before paying the balance?

You can submit the form, but before final payment it will go as a price reduction.

Ohh....and we went ahead and booked on the Dream out of NOLA!...Yayyy!:)

  17. In Roatan, you'll have good beaches, and easy shore snorkeling at the West bay beaches. But it'll cost you to get there via taxi and most resorts have day pass fees. Bananarama charges $30-$35 pp which includes transportation from Mahogany Bay cruise port, showers, lockers, welcome drink. That's close tot he cost of a taxi one way. However, the cruise line beach excursions go to the same overall beach, Tabayana. So you might compare.

There are excursions to other sites n Roatan.

Also check Eagle Ray Divers in Coz. They offer reasonably priced off-shore snorkel tours and their main dock is relatively close to the cruise ports.

Just returned from Roatan and the ships excursion to Tabyana is only 39.99 pp, fantastic snorkeling right off the beach. no lunch included, pay as you go.

  18. Just returned from our cruise that took us to Roatan again and opted for Tabyana Beach and brought my own gear. $39.99 through the ship and pay as you go for food and drink for some really amazing snorkeling. Not a guided tour though. there were a couple of locals in kayaks that would help you into the right direction for the best areas. It was everything i hoped it would be. Calm waters and beautiful reefs and sealife. :)

  19. I can only recommend Xunantunich, through the ship, since i have not visited the other sites yet. The bus ride is very informative on the way to the site.Once off the bus, and across the river, the Vans take you the last mile or so to the location of the rest area just below the actual site for about a 20 minute break. then you hike uphill on a narrow paved road to the site itself, about 300 yards. There were two other guides there that took over and lead us through the site explaining the details of the different structures there. Once we reached EL Castillo(the highest Temple) we were allowed to climb to the top to enjoy the magnificent view of Belize and Guatemala. When the guided tour was over, we returned to the bus then stopped for a welcomed lunch, then back to port.
