  1. Just back from our cruise MSC Fantasia. Was so looking forward to calling into Sir Bani Ya Island and yet again the ship could not dock. I have seen quite a few posts regarding the ship not calling into the island. The reason, we were told was that it was too windy and yet it did not seem very windy. Infact the sunbeds on the top deck were strapped down and not in use on the previous day due to winds but on this day they were in full use.......would be good to see if people who have sailed on Fantasia since Sir Bani Yas was a port of call actually went to the island.

Please could you let us know if you have been on the island...... many thanks

MSC Fantasia 18th -25th March. Also note that the itinerary was changed on this trip, same ports but different order........

  2. So we got back at 2 pm, grabbed some lunch and then packed. We've got a 3:30 am meeting time in the theatre for a 4:00 am departure for the airport for our flight back to Manchester which is due to depart at 07:25 am. Ugh

Unfortunately our bags have to be ready for collection no later than 23:00 tonight! Now that's going to be a hard one as dinner isn't until 21:15 and we rarely finish by 23:15! Have to be a faster one tonight.

Our passports haven't been returned yet, but are to be delivered to the cabin this afternoon.

Gosh what awful flight times. I thought ours was early at 10.45am from Abu Dhabi (for Manchester)

  3. I must say I agree about several nationalities as seen on MSC who do dress formally. And the weight limit isn't an issue as we bring black trousers to wear each night with shirts and are never over the limit. I don't want to start an argument here as this is review so can we please leave it here?

Just opinions and all are different , 'your cruise , your way' is a good attitude to have

  4. CC ......... I can't agree that it's only British who dress for formal nights. I've seen many from other nationalities who make the effort - including my own! As for weight restrictions on airlines: that's such a copout. DH's suitcase never comes near the allowance and he brings shirts & trousers for every night plus a jacket as well as a dinner suit.

  5. Years ago I brought a tux for my first couple cruises and found myself in a distinct minority. Since then it's just a dark or light suit, depending on the season. I believe the Brits are the only ones wearing formal nowadays and even then not too many. When you have to consider weight limitations for air travel it pays to go light.

p.s. You're giving us a fantastic review Pete, thanks.

Love dressing up in formal gear and going dancing....it's part of cruising for us. Would rather be over dressed than under dressed

  6. To be honest the Yacht Club is too expensive in my opinion for what we need from a cruise and I'd only consider it if 1) I could afford it and 2) only when they allow you to drink at all bars not just the exclusive Yacht Club bar. I like a variety of venues and not restricted to one place. I know that maybe changing so maybe one day.

We are never in cabin very long...bed and washing facilities, and dont always bother with a balcony......we are all different...

  7. Afraid not, just shampoo, shower gel and soap... Maybe buy a bottle of Nivea or similar at the airport Boots, therefore saving luggage weight, not much more expensive than on the High St?

Thanks. I have plenty of luggage allowance and take my own toiletries unless something more luxurious is supplied.
