  1. I have sailed on 4 different cruise lines, Carnival, Royal, Disney and a River Cruise. Amawaterways. We consider ourselves foodies. And kind of food snobs...I never eat fast food or at a chain restaurant unless desperate. HOWEVER, I read many of the reviews and comments here and see the words “inedible” and “horrible” to describe cruisers feelings about food in the WJ and MDR. Yes, some food does not appeal to me (rarely do I eat a pasta dish at the WJ) but I have never gotten a meal on a cruise that was inedible or horrible. I’ve said the words “just okay” to describe a dish but come on, am I lucky or are people that picky/critical?

I love their food, and would never complain about it! I'd prefer if they had more of a variety of vegetables rather than just the starchy types, but we've been on 7 Royal cruises and have had nothing but the best time!

  2. Yes, book the cruise as soon as the itinerary comes out. For our January 2016 cruise, I booked it 18 months earlier. (The Caribbean itinerary comes out the furthest in advance.) I called and booked with the cruise line. I chose my cabin by looking at the layout online (8110 was FABULOUS on Jewel. Do NOT get anything above or below the Schooner Lounge or the bass sound will keep you awake until midnight!! You have to look at what's above and below you before selecting a cabin if you are a light sleeper or early to bed person), and it originally booked for around $1900 total. I got an early bird discount. They then had a price drop shortly after for $1500, which I found and called right away. And later, I cashed in my points for the trip via the credit card, and it brought the price down to only $1000!! This is for a BALCONY on the 8th floor! Pretty damn good price. The airfare cost us MORE than the cabin for 8 days. Sad actually.

  3. We were on the same cruise also, and had a blast! The weather was wonderful, and only a little rain in St. Croix while we were on jet skis. Room 8110 was ideal!! It was only 5 doors down from the main stairs, and both the Windjammer and Main Dining Rooms were in that same area. Very quick to get to either of them. The water WAS yellow while in port. Pretty nasty. But once the ship started moving, it cleared up. We filtered the cabin water thru a Brita pitcher, and knew to have a surplus for when the ship stopped. It really works well to make it taste so much better and not break the bank on buying water. Jewel, just like Radiance, is a very SMOOTH ship, and I slept wonderfully at night.

  4. WHAT???!!! They cancelled your cruise for next September?? Oh my goodness, I would be so upset. We only go on vacation every 2 years, and spend a lot of time planning where and when to go. I can't imagine the disappointment.

Yes, more cruises along that amazing coastline would be fantastic! I wish Royal would do a more port-intensive and longer itinerary along the Pacific. Now that Celebrity is accepting cruise points from the Royal Caribbean Visa program, we can use our points on both cruise lines. Hooray! Now to find an itinerary I actually like!

  5. I have always cruised on Royal Caribbean, but the Pacific Coast itinerary that Celebrity has is fantastic! Are you guys familiar with the frequency of this route? It seems like it's only done in May and September. How far in advance do they publish their itineraries for this area? There is no September listing for next year, unless it is still coming. Thanks!

  6. Hey guys! I'm considering a January 2017 departure from Cape Liberty via Anthem of the Seas, and wondering if the port is mass chaos to leave from. Although I live in NJ, the last time we left from the Cape, it was on Empress of the Seas, a very small ship, and that was a long time ago. Also, is the Anthem really awesome? We're more into port intensive, smaller ship itineraries for a 12 day cruise (the Empress stopped at 7 islands!) but if the ship is incredible, that's another story. Thanks for your help.

  7. Segway Antigua was a heck of alot of fun! We did the 4 hour tour and were the only 2 customers along with the 2 guides. Very well worth the money. We ended at Valley Bay beach where we got off the segways and they let us stay at the beach for as long as we wanted, and the wonderful Mr. Edgar took us back to the pier when we were finished. At Valley Bay, we rented a jet ski for $45 from a "man on the beach" and it was a fabulous time! This tour was WAY more worth the price than cruise excursions.
