Take this for what its worth...just another anonymous internet guy giving my opinion...but I loved Vision.  I think its a beautiful ship.  I would do another cruise on that ship...or any ship in that class...in a heartbeat.

There's so much about that ship that is great, like the adults only Solarium pool, awesome views from the Viking Crown Lounge, and beautiful 2 story dining room.

I agree, I loved the Vision as well.  🙂

That was a few days...we are talking weeks, if not months.  Unless they entire world doesn't leave their house for the next 14 days...this isn't going away anytime soon.

Right?! I have never lived through a pandemic before so I am not sure of the protocol. I will say this, if this country doesn’t start testing people (but keep spouting this crap that only 129 people in the US have this virus) I think I am going to scream. Third world countries are testing 1000’s of people everyday and the strongest nation in the world can’t get enough tests out to test a large high school. Unbelievable... We could have a million infected already and not even know it...

They could ban cruise travel to areas with high instances of the virus.

They could and will I’m sure, but this is a very fluid situation and things are changing by the hour. I am going to Hawaii 4/10 on POA, it’s a wait and see right now. We not only have to worry about losing our money but what if some of us get sick with anything... you have so much as a sniffle and they ain’t going to let you board. I have bad allergies, that might not be in my favor 😳

    Whole world...no

Cruises leaving from US ports...yes, I believe that falls under the president's jurisdiction.

And as someone else mentioned, it is being hinted at.  So not entirely impossible.  What that means for cancellations and re-bookings, who the hell knows.

I agree , The airports were shut down after 911... just saying. Anything is possible at this point.  People are being arrested and jailed in other countries  for hoarding mask for Pete’s sake. It’s mass hysteria in some parts of the world.

Here is what I have learned in the past month:

    1. Many countries are not honest (China.)

    2. Some positive corona virus patients have no symptoms. I just watched an active patient in a Japan hospital and she said she had felt great.

    3. Those who are older and medically compromised are at more risk and should not be cruising. A ladeeda attitude isn't admirable during a near pandemic and puts you and others at risk.

    4. Many countries will likely begin to make bad health decisions as their economies falter. China stated they will soon attempt to go back to normal.

    5. Despite what you think of Trump, he made the right decision to close our borders to affected countries and to place trade restrictions on China. Europe is far more impacted by future shortages than the US.

    6. Many passengers have incredibly poor hygiene practices (I just got off a two week MSC cruise.)

    7. Many falsehoods are floating around as fact: it now seems the original thinking that the virus only lasts 14_days is incorrect and the idea that the virus can't survive in warm climates hasn't been proven. There is a lot the medical community has to learn.

    8. All the "be more worried about the flu" comments trivialize the problem. This coronavirus appears to be distinctive and we shouldn't generalize. I have heard the statistics about the flu so no need to sermonize. We don't need your justification if you choose to travel.

    9. Be grateful we live in the USA and don't allow politicians to muck up the administration's efforts. The CDC isn't political. Listen to the experts. No spin, as much as possible.

    10. I am content to not travel for a while and am grateful I have had many wonderful years of travel. Use common sense and wisdom.

I agree with #8 , what a lot of people don't understand is we know the flu & what it can do, we don't know what this virus is capable of doing and whether or not it can mutate into something else. Coronaviruses are dangerous because they jump from animals to people so they are unpredictable. Not to mention we are being lied to all over the place by communist China who doesn't give a rip about its own people, do you really think they give a rip about the rest of the world?

  6. I am also grateful that you asked this question because I wasn't sure how it worked either as I also paid full price. I don't care because Ill drink the credit anyway.

However I didn't realize that there were 734 post already about this subject, but you know what .. who cares.

I guess we could just shut down the live forum because I am sure by now every pertinent question has been asked as it relates to cruising. We could just look them up from the CC archives rather than risk getting verbally beaten up publicly by another CC member by having the unmitigated gall to re-ask a question on a free cruise website forum that is supposed to exist for fun.

I guess some people don't have enough to do that they have to troll the subject lines of questions they have memorized the answers to so they can humiliate unsuspecting cruise critic members.

I haven't been on this board for years... now I remember why I left. :classic_angry:

  7. What a great Review!!

Thank you so much! My hubby and I are going on this cruise in April and now I really cant wait!

We have never been to Hawaii before and want to explore it on our own and not depend on excursions and you made it sound so easy to get around and see everything.  We are doing Pearl Harbor the last day though and going whale watching. You didn't mention whether or not you saw any whales, did you happen to see any?

  8. I am handicapped and do have 11201 booked so I came to cruisecritics to read about the cabin. Instead, I find people arguing about the right to reserve one of these cabins. Let me give you my two cents - who cares what you all think? This is a discussion about the cabin itself. I personally would like to read about the cabin, not about who is right or wrong...

Here is my two cents about booking. If a handicap person books early, they get the room. The cruiselines should not hold onto cabins in the event that a handicap person might book... The same when I go to the ladies room. 9 out 10 times I have to wait because a non-handicap is in the stall. I wait my turn. I don't think the cruiselines have to hold these rooms. If a handicap person wants to cruise, book early. I don't want any perks because of my disability, I want to be treated like everyone else.

Get off your high horses, and let's stay on topic. Did anyone stay in 11201 or the like? How was it, did you like it? Was there much noise? Would you book the room again? I am so looking forward to this cabin, but am cruising with some first-time cruisers and I want to know if they will be happy there, is there too much motion?

I don't care if you are handicap or not, but if you actually stayed in this area, please do tell.

well said! great attitude by the way! :)

  9. Congrats on your decision to gift your family a cruise. I question the wisdom of extending the invitation to your extended family who sound like new cruisers also. I realize they pay their fares. A well chosen cruise is special. You may end up with the stress of being an unpaid group leader with no knowledge of cruising. They may book, become unable to pay at time of final payment(they may even lose deposit), or cancel because a cruise is outside of their comfort zone.Average cruise cabin is sold, resold 6 times! That said, Caribbean offers most beauty and bang for buck due to competetion. Choose a newer ship, 7n or more on a mid range ship. Princess or Celebrity. Or RCL, NCL for more activities. CCL for Vegas style .Post Hurricane time just after Thanksgiving till mid Dec. usually lowest priced, good weather. Lots of cruise line/port books in your library. Inside cabins fine.Mexico scary at this time.

Mexico is safe as long as you stay in the resort area (that goes for anywhere really) Just dont wander off and you'll be fine. If you do shore excursions stick with cruise ship related ones they cost a little more but the ship has to wait for you if your are late, if you book outside the cruise line they dont.

A lot of men go on their first cruise because the wife wants to go and they end up loving it (my hubby did!)
