  1. The 2nd guest free thing is for the flight portion if you choose to use it. ""Buy an air ticket and the 2nd guest flies for free. *View ....for full terms and conditions.""
  2. That would be my preferred approach (cruise/land/cruise) - so I guess option 2. Whatever you choose, it's one heck of a pre-school trip!
  3. That depends on the cruiseline and ship. We have sailed Holland a few times inside and always had a sofa in those. I do really feel having a sofa a pretty big "nice to have" in a cabin for us, although not a deal breaker. It just makes the room feel more like a room.
  4. I've always thought that the time frame varied for different cruise destinations depending on how quickly those destinations sell.
  5. Would we be OK? First time sailing into Miami cruise port and we have a 7:00 am arrival. We're MSC Yacht club so should be quick off the ship. Looks like cabs are about 35 minutes to FLL so seems doable to me to make an 11:15 flight time. Looking for experience yey's and ney's??
  6. I think all the HAL ships we have been on had framed photos along the corridor walls. The theme probably varies but I recall one with historical cruise ship photos and one with iconic cruise port destination photos ...🤔
  7. I haven't sailed Azamara yet (have a booking for next year) but wondering what perks there are to booking while on board? (I presume there are some perks in terms of OBC or something)
  8. My thought when I see door decor is - why on the outside? Why not decorate the inside if you like to decorate? At times I find the decor just plain tacky.. and generally does not add to the decor and ambience of the corridor decor installed by the cruise lines. Nothing against people's tastes, but why not stick to decorating your room to suit your preferences?
  9. When is the next cruise? If it falls outside the annual rollover of AARP membership I think you would need to re-apply then.
  10. I think a better comparison would be an E-class ship pricing with an Azamara cruise which is not part of the inflated price that comes with being an Azamara PerryGolf cruise (that has been made even more expensive as it is sold out for the golfers). I am curious on the pricing and differences between the two though- we have sailed Celebrity and are booked on an "overpriced" Azamara (PerryGolf and golfing) but am curious on comparing the lines price-wise for similar itineraries (not inflated by the golf program)
  11. I think that error message would mean you ave already been verified as having an AARP membership.
  12. Not sure which Azamara cruise you are looking at .. but if it is the April 10-24, 2026, the inflated price is a result of it being a "PerryGolf" cruise...which have inflated prices compared to the non-golf cruises made worst by the fact that the golf component has already sold out. https://www.perrygolf.com/golfcruising/japan-golf-cruise-2026-april10.php Having only 700 rooms is also a factor.
  13. I use Cruiseplum.com for looking at price history for a cruise. For example- if I am looking at a December 2025 cruise, I would look at the pricing history graph of the equivalent December 2024 cruise. Cruiseplum is not a booking site, so we can name it (within CC guidelines)
  14. Yes - there is a form that needs to be submitted within 60 days HAL transfer form.pdf
  15. I think you are confusing the perpetually confused "Mariner Early Booking" OBC offer (within 90 days of launch) with the general "Early Booking" offer which has the amped up HIA (with crew gratuity) runs a much longer period. https://www.hollandamerica.com/en/ca/cruise-deals/mariner-early-booking-bonus?ICID=INTHWEB20240502NDPXRUYK1W
  16. There also seems to be something about getting the last bottle started on your package before the last night of a cruise in our recent experience. On our last cruise (a couple of weeks ago) on the second to last night we were finishing the third of four bottles of our package and said we wanted leave the final bottle until tomorrow (last night). We were asked multiple times by our waiters if we wanted to open the next bottle (while our glasses were full) and we finally just said "sure" as it seemed important to them. They were giddy to peel that sticker off our card... and we each had an extra ounce that night and store the bottle for our final night. Perhaps an incentive to save the potential heahache of folks who may not finish their package before disembarking?
  17. On our most recent cruise we did not have HIA (rare for us) - and at Happy Hour we each ordered "a" beer (2 of us) ... and the bartended said "2 beer" .. we said "yes" .. he said "2 each?" we said "no - just 1 each" - he said "10 beer?" .. we ended up at "yes please" .. 😏 a bucket of beers is 5 for the price of 4. During Happy Hour - buckets are 2 for 1 .. so 10 beer for the price of 4. We got them in a bucket and paper 6 pack carrier to take back to the room. We saved some money, but are going back to HIA for our next booking - it is the amped up early booking HIA with grats and we like just not thinking about the cost of anything on a cruise.
  18. After completing our previous cruises with HAL, we would receive an email with a "thanks for sailing with us, come back and sail" type thing which offered $50 OBC. We're back just over a week and haven't received one yet. Are they still doing them? Was about to book but maybe worth waiting for that email.
  19. I am in your category of typically 30% discount - so I wanted to test it to 2027 but I can't see any HAL cruises that far out. I am seeing it on a Sept 2026 cruise we are looking at booking. We just returned from a cruise a couple of weeks ago, so not sure if that was needed to "renew" our status in the Casino discount world.
  20. That was our first mainstream cruiseline ocean cruise - on the NCL Jade (when it was a new ship) and it sold us on cruising! 😀
  21. I'll add our lower gambler data point - We are typically 600 points for a week of cruise - which has been enough to maintain a 30% discount on cruises (after receiving a few freebies in the initial post Covid era ). A couple of weeks ago - we went "crazy" in the Casino and racked up 1000 points for the week - our comeback card was our standard 30% with the addition of $50 freeplay.
  22. Just off the Volendam on a Can/NE cruise staying in an inside cabin - nothing to worry about! Great ship - easy to get around - and Inside cabins are actually quite large. Edit: Should add that our ship was full booked - and never felt that way at any point.
