  1. Trying to find a list of ships on royal that has an actual nightclub on them. I know alot of them were removed. I know there is the Viking lounge but that's not a club. Anyone who knows would be greatly appreciated

Just Blaze on Oasis and Allure are fully dedicated enclosed true dance clubs remain....however, their dance floor space is quite small for such a large ship.

Harmony & Symphony have the partially dedicated ComedyClub which doubles as he the dance venue down in Entertainment Place.

Also on all Oasis class is Dazzles, which is an enclosed dedicated dance & live music club.

Music Hall on Quantum class ships is partially dedicated.

Boleros (is on almost all ships) & is dedicated dance area(not an enclosed club).

Mariner had lower floor of Dragons Lair removed in this current retrofit (the upper deck was removed before it originally left for China).

All dedicated dance clubs(Voyager & Freedom classes) were turned into specialty restaurant on top floor & interior staterooms on the bottom floor.

The Viking Crown Lounge-VCL (usually in part renamed where the dance floor is, eg. BlueMoon on Adventure of the Seas) serves as the defecto dance club on all other ships, except Sovereign & Empress classes.

On the Vison & Radiance classes, the VCL was originally built in part as the dance club and these ships have the best layout/vibe for a dance club that you can get in the VCL.

After the 2 floor dedicated dance clubs were removed from Voyager & Freedom classes is when part of the VCL became the defacto in this case 'pseudo' dance club. Even the DJ has a portable set up.

Both Empress & Sovereign classes utilize the dance floor in the aft lounge as the defect dance club...Spectrum on Majesty(only ship in this class left at Royal) & Boleros on Empress(only ship in this class).

It is rumored that Blaze on Oasis & Allure will mirror Harmony/Symphony when they go into next refurbishment.

The Oasis & Allure also had The Olive & Twist dance floor in the VCL. But this area was repurposed for Suite Guests/Pinnacle only (unless you take in the Chefs Table dinner, worth the view). As such, that dance floor is long gone too. It is too bad that unless you are a Suite guest on those two ships(as well as Harmony/Symphony), you cannot enter what used to be the VCL deck/area just to take in the best view on those ships.

Fun fact, the VCL was imagined by Edwin Stefan, founder of Royal. He attended the 1963 Seattle Worlds Fair and after experiencing the Spaced Needle, jotted a sketch that would eventually become the VCL(in all its variations).

It is unknown what the dance layout will be on the new ICON class under development.

At a time when the other main Royal competitors have upped their game with dedicated dance clubs, Royal has chosen to go in the other direction and replace the dedicated dance clubs with additional revenue generation(specialty restaurant & additional staterooms).

We’re not sure if the happier we are, the more we dance.... Or the more we dance, the happier we are... Either way, we’ll be dancing!

Take more chances, dance more dances!

  2. Thank you so very much for this excellent review! We are especially thankful that you took the time to post all of the cruise compasses for both weeks! Very very helpful for us as we do some pre-cruise planning. :D We are also doing these same 2 itineraries back2back starting on July 27. We sailed Adventure last summer on a B2B out of San Juan, PR, and she is a lovely ship with a wonderful crew. We will follow you on Instagram! Best wishes, and happy cruising!
