Well hello, fellow Arlingtonite!! Yes it IS a great way to save some, or a lot! Several people pay for their entire cruise, using discounted Carnival gift cards and they save a lot. We save some, by getting a few and applying to our Sail & Sign account.

As far as when Allstate will get a restock, it's anybody's guess.....from a few days to a few weeks. They go very quickly now that AARP has gone to their new fulfillment company, and not satisfactory to me at all.

    Thanks!

I guess I should update my location. We’re back in MO now after having taken a job transfer to TX for a few years! A small piece of me will always miss Texas. Looking forward to a short business trip to the dfw area this week.

  2. Hey everyone!

When Allstate cards go out of stock, about how long on average is it before they get more?

Sorry if this has been posted before. My now wife and I cruised on the Legend back in 2010 and we’ve got a trip booked on the Breeze with our almost 6 year old, and an 18 month old (at the time of cruising) - so I haven’t been active on here for a long time. When I saw this I thought it would be a great way to save some money!

  3. I proposed to my wife on the Legend in 2010. I let a photographer know what I was doing so it could be captured. It was the first formal night. To be honest I debated how exactly I wanted to do it and had been carrying the ring with me all evening until I settled on doing it in front of a photographer. No matter how you do it I'm sure she'll love it. I like the marriage show idea as long as you think she's cool with it being public. Even with ours just being in a public area we were recognized the rest of the cruise.

Here 7 years later we're getting ready to go on our 2nd cruise in January - this time with our 3 year old!

  4. Hello Everyone! It's been a LONG time since I've been on these boards. The first cruise my (now) wife and I went on was the Legend in 2010 out of Tampa. It's actually where I proposed (picture attached). Anyway, we went to Roatan, Belize City, and Cozumel (Couldn't tender into Cayman) and had an incredible time. Roatan was by far our favorite port (and probably our favorite place we've ever been). Since then we've gone to an AI in Cancun and several other places, but we've never had as much fun as we did on the cruise. Here comes our dilemma:

We live in Texas now, and so we're thinking about doing a week long cruise out of Galveston in January. Our choices are taking the Freedom or Magic, and the routes we can do are Cayman, Cozumel, and Montego Bay, or Roatan, Belize City, and Cozumel. I have no idea which option would be best, so I'm looking for some opinions from people who have gone on both of these ships and/or routes.

About us: We now have a little boy who will be 16 months in January. Leaving him at home is not an option as our family lives too far away, and we wouldn't want to leave him for a whole week anyway. He's pretty easygoing and there's the potential another couple will come with us and help. We enjoy the shows and piano bar, so we will likely make use of Night Owls once or twice. He won't be potty trained, but I doubt he'll throw any fits over not being able to swim as long as we can on shore.

    Magic Pros:

    Waterworks (for us)

    Cove Balcony!

    Price

    Freedom Pros:

2.0 Upgrades (especially Guy's Burgers, Blue Iguana)

Smaller Ship (and potentially less crowded?)

As far as routes go, we loved the route we went on, and I'm sure we'd have a great time again; however, we're always open to seeing new places (Montego Bay, Grand Cayman).

If there are things I should consider regarding the ports or ships, please let me know! Appreciate any info you all give. Thanks!
