  1. To the OP: Keep in mind that if you try to skirt the rules and put them in your checked luggage you are relying on the luck of the draw as far as getting your mixers to your cabin. They may be held until the last night if the screeners find them and decide to remove them. In my opinion, you're better off just following the rules.

    Agree!!

Here is a picture from Zydecocruiser's Conquest Cruise a month ago ... Oh is that over 20oz bottles of mixers that were confiscated?

By George I do believe they are.

  2. We leave in 2 wks and have pretty much everything planned....we just have not idea of what to do in San Juan....we are there from 7:00AM - 3:30...we have been there once before and just shopped and looked at the forts....any ideas! I am getting pretty excited for this needed vacation! :D

We did the segway tour. Took the 9am tour and had plenty of time afterwards for wandering.

They do go to El Morro and you said you have been. The guide gives a personal guided tour there.

It was very interesting having a small group [just us and 1 other couple] our guide gave us a very detailed history of Old San Juan.

The best part .. no walking until we go to El Morro, LOL

  3. I'm super excited to hear about all the new changes that have taken place on Carnival Liberty. Sounds like they are great improvements!!!

Does anyone have a schedule of when other Carnival ships are set to upgrade? I want to try this new FunShip stuff but want to make sure the ship I pick will have been upgraded by the time I sail!!! :D

Ironically, the complete list can be found on the Carnival Site under FAQ's

  4. We have 3 of these cabins booked. I promise to take pictures and post them. Thanks for posting the other pics. We are in 6202, 6203 and 6204. They are the centre ones. I'm not sure if there's a small sofa or not. Glad to have a window for the same price as an interior!

Those cabins have a chair and coffee table; no sofa.

If you Google 'cruise line rooms' and go to the site with those 3 words

Look at Valor 6203 .. Liberty's sister ship. There are pictures posted there.

  5. We booked today and got the upgrade from a 4A to a 4K included and we are pretty happy about that! I was wondering if anyone had any pictures of that type of cabin since we have never been in one. Thanks in advance!

Do a Google search for cruise line rooms

Look for the site containing all 3 words run together.

You can look at cabins for any of the Spirit Class ships .. I have found the most pictures to be posted under Spirit.

Check for your cabin number or 1 close by.

  6. I'm with ya. Don't get it either. I can understand for kids but not adults.

    'like and agree' button

My DH thought I was nuts for buying DGS a build-a-bear lion. It was just us 2 on the cruise so I had to hand carry the little cute box with the lion head sticking out.

Yeah it was cute carrying it through CBP and then TSA.

I just could not be focused on worrying about the thing on excursions and such.

  7. If you Google cruise line rooms go to the site named that. Go to Dream and look at cabin 1203 and you will see 2 pictures posted. This cabin has the same config as the one on Magic.

    1210 1A 185 sq ft

    Beds: 1 twin-1 sofabed

    Bathroom: shower-toilet-sink

Features: flat screen-TV; telephone; 110 AC current; individual climate control; hair dryer; safe; minibar; 3-closets; sofa and coffee table

  8. I am sailing on Fantasy in a little over a week. I have never sailed Carnival before. I am in Cabin E130 which is above the galley. Do I need to worry about excessive noise. I booked an oceanview guarantee which is fine so I get what I get but I'm just curious if I need to bring a sound machine to drown out the noise.

Also would love any other info about the empress deck pros and cons would be appreciated.

Thanks, getting excited now and hope the tropical storms stay away.:D

Your stateroom is kinda tucked under a little alcove area, I doubt there will be much noise from that area. It could be refrigerator / freezer or storage area.

The Pro is that there is a bar right down the hall, LOL

Take the aft elevators or stairs up 2 and you are at the Serenity area:D

  9. Are you a member of this site? I hate to pay to join and there not be any pictures of my stateroom.... or will there at least be layouts?

    I personally use cruiselineroomsDOTcom.

It is free and hopefully other cruisers have posted pictures of their cabin either of or near mine.

You can also check other ships from the same Class as yours.

For example we are booked on Legend cabin 5238 but on Spirit listing that cabin has pictures .. same class different ship but same cabin layout.

  10. Does anyone know anything about this stateroom? I am trying to find info on what is around it (don't want to be under/over a casino or disco) wondering if it is near the food? And i saw something like that room might have an upper pullman? Is that instead of a loveseat/sofa? I would kinda like an extra area to sit, such as the sofa. Any advice would be great- only been on one cruise before and that was a few years ago with royal caribbean. Thanks!

Stacked deck plans .. that cabin is over the sports bar.

    Cabin 6298 4E 185 sq ft

    Beds: twin/king-1 upper

    View: no window or balcony

    TV; telephone; 110 AC current; individual climate control; hair dryer; safe; minibar; 3-closets; shower;

    chair and coffee table

  11.

5238 is the best balcony in that category- are you looking for a cabin for 4 people?

I agree .. we have 5238 booked for our Legend Cruise in August it is however a Mod HC cabin.

5236 also has a large balcony.

    Both are 110sq.ft.

There are pictures posted on CruiselineroomsDOTcom of both cabins.

Sorry to hijack, but if anyone has pics of room 1130 on pride, I would be thrilled to see our room for our upcoming cruise on Pride.

Check CruiselineroomsDOTcom there are pictures of the cabin 1136 just down from yours.

  12. We just switched to 7220 for our upcoming cruise...has anyone stayed in cabin 7220 on a Conquest class ship?? If so, do you have pictures I can see? Reviews? Anything? :)

    Thanks!

We stayed in 7358 on Valor .. I have picture in my signature Album #1.

7220 is fwd and we were mid-ship. Both are the same size.

  13. Yes, that's a general recommendation. It covers the worst case scenario for all itineraries, but doesn't mean that on a particular itinerary 6 months remaining validity is required. Yours doesn't because neither Mexico nor the US require it.

Think about it... on an itinerary like yours, no passport is even required...you can cruise with a birth certificate and drivers license, so how can they require a passport with six months remaining validity? If you use a BC and drivers license, the drivers license doesn't need 6 months remaining validity.

Obviously there's nothing wrong with your renewing your passport before taking the cruise, but we shouldn't be misleading future readers of this thread that 6 months remaining validity is required for this particular itinerary. In fact it isn't required for any Western Hemisphere closed loop cruise itinerary that allows the use of a BC/Photo ID in lieu of a passport.

What you have posted is true but and a BIG but .... if the person were to be left behind at a foreign port they would not be able to FLY out of that country until they get a passport from the US consulate.

I am a firm believer in CYA. You never know what could happen. An accident getting caught in heavy traffic. Unless you are on a ship excursion the ship will leave without you.

So, yes you can cruise without a passport but that can be risky.

  14. For those fans of taking your passport with you on an excursion, where precisely do you put your passport while you are at a beach and snorkeling in the water for an hour?

I've been to several Caribbean resorts and I wouldn't trust my passport in a bag on the beach at all while I was swimming.

Well, where do you keep your DL, money and credit cards then???

Wouldn't you run the very same risks of losing those as you would losing your passport?

    Just saying

  15. I thought Carnival returned confiscated liquor, as long as it was sealed, and in original container.

There's a good Margarita Mix called Coyote Gold. Friends always bring that on white-water raft trips.

Carnival does return confiscated original bottles. The only thing about it is that anything you purchase is delivered to your cabin the night before and anything confiscated you have to claim the morning of disembark. Kind of a penalty for being naughty.

If you are going on Carnival why not just order booze from Bon Voyage. I know it is pricey but at least you will not go through if it gets confiscated or not. Then you can use the soda/water allotment for your mixers.

  16. Tracy has completed 8 weeks out of 25 weeks. Very busy, very interesting as she puts it. Yesterday she had to do pepper spray (mace) training. Each cadet has to be sprayed in the face so that so that they know first hand, how it affects the body. She said it was the worst thing she ever experience.

First I have to say KUDOS on an awesome review. I just stumbled upon it last night and finished it up this evening. DH and I are sailing on Valor in 101 days 1st time cruisers, Oh BTW Valor now has Serenity:D

I have to laugh at Tracy just like I laughed at my oldest DD when she was at basic and they had chemical warfare training or something like that. I actually have the video they made of the soldiers coming out and there is my poor baby all teary eyed looking like I do not know what, as drool was pouring out of places I had not seen drool come out of since she was a wee lil one. LOL

    Happy Cruising

  17. Although we know we do not need a passport as our cruise leaves and returns to Miami. We have gotten our passports after an incident from our local area. We have this sad news to report from our little town here in VA. A young college man was shot and killed recently. His killer was arrested and his name was delayed being released because his next of kin could not be located. As it turned out his parents were on a cruise, with NO passport. They had to try and contact another family member to identify their son. I can not imagine what the parents went through being stuck on a cruise that is meant to be fun and having to deal with their son lying in a morgue until they got back a week later. My heart was torn apart and I urged my husband that we needed to get passports.
