Just off the Splendor on 13 Oct and the Steel drummer was there everyday.

My wife and I cruise the Mexican Riviera a lot and as another poster stated it will be cool the first and last nights. In November it will probably even be cold! The ports should be very comfortable--tee shirt weather. Enjoy.

Have done Alaska on both Carnival and Princess and loved both. Thought the buffet on Princess was better but liked Carnival over all.
I recommend the train trip in Skagway. The train comes right to the ship so a short walk for you and it gives a great look at Alaska over about 3 1/2 hours.
Enjoy.

czexrus I don't know how this would work but if you give me a name and address or an email address where we could talk, we have lots of "Carnival stuff" that you could put in your kids Christmas baskets. And we would be happy to send it to you.

We will take our 12th Splendor cruise next month and have not had your problems. The occasional hic up but no sustained issues. Sorry it didn't work for you.
-
I don't know if it is relevant but we are on the 6 October Splendor sailing and had no trouble getting boarding times.
-
We were on the Splendor in July and she does not have a Blue Iguana. OBTW we had a wonderful cruise. Enjoy.
-
We cruise out of Long Beach a lot. When flying into LAX we use either Super Shuttle or Prime Time. Both are good and a lot less than a taxi.
-
We are just off the Splendor Mexican Riv cruise and beyond the standard "pay attention to your surroundings" advisories there was nothing special. We spoke with guests that did tours in all three ports and no one experienced any problems.
Enjoy.

We leave books that we have brought with us when we finish them. Many others do also.
The libraries are on the honor system and have a pretty good selection.
Enjoy

We have done Alaska a half dozen times and it never gets old. Is it cold? Some times but it is also warm and sunny. Recommend the train trip in Skagway and also the helicopter trip. Both are superb and while pricey are a one time must do we think.
Enjoy

We sail out of Long Beach all the time and you will find the ship is tied up at about 0700 and cruisers are getting off by about 0730. We routinely fly out of LGB on a 1015 flight.
-
We attended a travel expo in January of this year and the young lady at the Carnival desk had a stack of new brochures--we got two. Full color with deck plans for all ships currently sailing.
-
We have done the partial transit and it is spectacular. Recommend the train trip across the country if you are looking for an excursion to do. It was better than advertised!
-
Some years ago we did the partial transit on the Coral Princess. The canal is amazing and we took a train ride to the Pacific side. We loved the entire experience.

Not included in My Carnival Splendor docs out of Long Beach. And I sail this Saturday.
We sail with you Sat. We went out of Long Beach in Jan and they did the form on a hand held device didn't want our paper forms.

I don't know this for a fact, but I suspect the glitch rears its head whenever a payment is made (or some other change) and the bedding preference defaults to twin beds. I'd be curious to know if anyone who has chosen twin beds as their preference has ever had it "mysteriously" changed to king bed. If that has happened, there goes my theory.[/quote
We always ask for twin beds and it NEVER happens--always KIng. Makes us feel bad to have the Steward have to make a change on his/her busiest day. It is done with a smile however!

We also go on the 28th.

We take all of our meals on Lido except for a night in the Steak House. We find the variety and quality to be excellent. Do we like everything--no but with the choices we do very well. We do this as we don't care for the structure of the Dining Room experience--used to but no longer.
-
Buffet, burger bar, deli shop pizza shop and BBQ +ice cream and all kinds of desserts. Enjoy we plan to next week!
-
We go to the Steakhouse once each cruise and it is always delicious. I recommend the chocolate sampler for dessert.
-
We cruised the Splendor in Feb and even though we had filled out the health forms (no pregnancy form) the young lady checked us in with a hand held device that also did these forms and scanned our passports for a picture. Going again later this month and will see what the procedure is now.
-
We cruise out of Long Beach a lot and have had no trouble making an 1130 flt out of LAX. All bets are off if there is a delay with debark at the pier however.
-
Have done the Legend to Alaska several times. Nice ship but no big screen on Lido Deck.
Recommend the train ride in Skagway and the Mt. Roberts Tram in Juneau. The day spent in the Fjord is magical.
Steak House is killer and we like the Chop Stix Asian food on Lido Deck for lunch.
Enjoy.
