  1. Thanks for the reply. We are unsure which trip to take as we would rather avoid spending too much time on a coach especially as l have read that traffic can often be bad. The details of the Krk day suggest you’ll use a boat although the island is attached to the mainland. I believe there is a esplanade in Opatija which might be nice for a walk. We will be in the second week of the cruise and will be wearing out! My husband is blind so although site-seeing trips are fine for me he can get a bit bored. We always try to go ashore each at each port but feel that there would be much to see in Rekeja. Thanks

  2. I just wondered if there is tiered seating in the show lounge or is still lounge style seating. Also what are the cabins like on deck four outside - is there much wobble etc and is the window big enough to see out and let light in.My husband has very poor eye sight so we have to take a lot into consideration when booking cruises.

  3. We were on the Dream for 11 nights at the end of April. It’s was our 8th time and we still prefer the layout to the newer ships especially on deck 8. Was a big choppy when we were in the Atlantic but was fine midships deck 6..Found the entertainment areas very good and would be happy to go back on her. We are tempted by a Adriatic Cruise next next year but concerned about the Celebration. We have been on her a few time several years ago and found the wobble uncomfortable so have still to decide.

  4. Thanks for quick replys. I had thought of getting some form of public transport up to the castle and after spending some time in the area walking back with lots of stops for coffee etc.I would love to make the most of our time but with so much to see that is spread over the city I just need an easy and achievable itinerary. We are going to be there on a public holiday and with several other large cruise ships so l think there may be lots of people using the trams, lifts etc.l would love to find a morning walking tour so l could just follow and listen.

  5. We are on the Dream next week and visiting Lisbon. We like to walk around and take in the atmosphere and see some sights. Has anyone got any recommendations for an intresting day and the places we really should see. Sight seeing from a bus or taxi is not suitable as my husband has very poor sight and needs time to focus. Any thought on how we can spend our day

  6. We were due to call in to this port about two years ago but never made it as too rough to dock. My plan was to use the local bus service to go to the beach. Their were two bus which ran around the island one clockwise and one anti-clockwise. We then planned to continue after a swin around the route to see the island. The Port looked very intresting and was once a very important city. Lots of intresting buildings. We were disappointed not to berth.

  7. We are on the Dream on thr repositioning cruise to Palma in April and l am trying to plan our port days.I am trying to decide whether to use the Yellow hoho bus 16 eu including Camera de Lobos in the morning and then look around Funchal Old town in the afternoon including a visit to Blandys Wine Lodge or would we see as much by just hopping on the local bus to Camara then back for our Funchal afternoon. I am concerned about getting on the bus for our return to Funchal as l know there are two ships in port that day. Any advice please

  8. We usually use the Mir ehenever possible but do like sirens for a change. We find the larger buffet areas very differcult. Have always chosen our cruises based on POC and are looking forward to Lisbon, maderia and Cadiz which together to Las Palmas are new to us So as long as the Dream is free of illness with reasonable food and entertainment it should be fine. But I can remember the times when holidaying on a cruise ship was something special!

  9. We are on the Dream in April on her repositioning from Tenerife back to Palma. It will be our 15th cruise including 7 on the Dream. I know and have experienced the short comings of the ship but the itinerary suited us.I have become really concerned with recent reviews. I know that D&V has been a big issue but the general reports have been awful. We were on the D1 in September and felt that the cost cutting re waiters and bar staff delivered a very slow service.I was surprised to read that trays in the Sirens are not allowed. My husband is blind so I always carry both of our meals whilst he holds my arm so if we want to use this restaurant it's going to be a lot more trips to the self service area. The sad thing is that after 20 years of cruising I think this may be our last.I had great hopes of the newer ships but found the layout and use of evening bars with very limited seating and no We on the entertainment deck really differcult with someone who is blind and finds stairs differcult Hopefully our April trip will be find and tui will have address some of the issues if they take any notice of these comments

  10. Yes we will certainly have a stop for tapas time allowing.Still uncertain what to do in Lisbon Fancy the information at walking pace on a walking tour but concern that we might slow the group down or fall too far behind.Concerns re hoho is if busy may not be able to hop of etc. May research places of intrest and just us public transport. Luckily all other POC sortedI also realise l am over stressing re Lisbon as disappointed not being able to get there for a holiday last year.

  11. In Lisbon l am trying to decide whether to do the hoho or get an all day ticket for public transport. We love the idea of the trams but worry about recent reports about how busy (therefore long wait) they are. Have also thought of booking a walking tour of the old area then public transport to Belem to do our own thing. We are ok mobility wise but my husband is registered blind. He has some sight but needs guiding on uneven surfaces. He would see more and learn more on the walking tour but would find the trams a great experience. We were going to spend a week in the Lisbon area of Portugal last year but was cancelled due to Monarch collapse. I am mindful of not trying to squeeze that holiday into 8 hours so need to find correct balance of sights, information and relaxing.

  12. Thanks for all the help.We have decided to do the trip to Ribeira as suggested and book a wine tour at Blandys in the afternoon and just have a look at places as we pass by back to the port. If raining we will just go on the local bus to Camara and back and go for a wander plus wine tour.Hopefully the weather will be ok End April. Now to plan Lisbon......

  13. We are trying to decide whether to do Hoho in Funchal or get the local bus to Camara del losbos (unsure of the number etc). Then visit the Wine Lodge for a tour I would book on line in the afternoon and then just a wander around town enroute back to ship .?How far would it be to walk to this area from the bus stop or would we need another bus. Or would the hoho be a better bet - we always worry that if busy we may spend wasted time just waiting for buses.
