  1. Actually, having been trained by the USPH in their VSP procedures and inspection methods, I'm perfectly aware of how the virus "works". But I guess you know better than the USPH/CDC epidemiologists about the possible transmission vectors, so you don't have to follow the rules.

Let's see. Let's say someone has noro, who is contagious without being symptomatic. They touch, either hand or mouth, their refillable cup. They then use this cup at the drink dispenser, and their glass touches the spout or the dispensing lever. The next person comes along, and follows the rules and uses a clean glass, but that glass gets contaminated by the spout or lever, and then the person touches the glass either with hand or mouth, and they at the least transfer the virus to their hand. They then pick up their burger bun, transferring the virus to the bun, which they then eat. Guess who has noro?

Do you think the cruise line puts the sign up and (admittedly sporadically in many cases) enforces the rule because they want to wash more glasses? Really? Or did they just put those signs up to interfere with your enjoyment of your cruise, because the crew lives to annoy the passengers?

I'm really amazed at the people who decide they know better, and can pick and choose the rules they will follow, when those rules are formulated by some of the most respected people in the field.

Yes I do know more, which is why I use my own cup and not the dirty cups with lipstick, food, and dirty water spots on them.

  2. Can I cash checks on board?

Guests may use their personal checks on board to acquire a cash advance. Global Cash Access (GCA) provides this service by debiting the guest's checking account, using the account number on the check. Limits are determined by the monies currently available in the guest's checking account that the check is drawn on. Just like a debit card transaction, the money is immediately debited from the guest's account.

For this service, GCA charges 5.5% of the value of the cash advance requested or a flat fee of $5.50 USD*if the amount requested is $100 USD or less. As part of this transaction, a new GCA check is generated for the transaction amount and the guest is requested to endorse it over to CCL in order to receive the cash. The guest's personal check is returned to them after the bank account number is obtained from the bottom of the check.

Both the Guest Services Desk and the Casino offer this service

    Guess there is a fee.

  3. If I'm not mistaken, you can't purchase the Cheers deal til day 2 when sailing out of Galveston, so that may take care of your predicament. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

That is correct, so you can still use the bar credit from the package. The texas info is on the faq on carnival.com under cheers.

  4. Yes...but it's the same...one $200 check per cruise. Easier to bring the cash you need...take home what you don't use!

Thanks. I ran out of cash last cruise and since I had my check book in muy suitcase, I used it instead of the atm or casino to avoid extra fees :)

  5. One of the reasons the casino does not really have a smoke free area/tables is that it is such a small tiny area and smoke is sure to drift all over. Larger casino's that have smoke free areas often have seperate rooms dedicated to smoke free. People will continue to smoke in any available areas designated as smoking and remember when cruise lines tried the smoke free ships that was quickly scrapped.

Celebrity is a smoke free cruise line and is doing very well.
