Called  my TA as I heard that other Cruise lines are allowing passengers to cancel with a credit on any of their upcoming cruises, no matter where they are going. Was told that RCI has no plans on doing so that they know of and my paid insurance wont help me.   We leave in 2 weeks from Bayonne and will  most likely give up our rooms and loose our money, but it is better than the alternative. I will not subject my family to potential quarantine and death.   This is supposed to be a relaxed vacation. I realize its not RCI fault, but they know its a breeding ground for the Contravirus. I only hope that  RCI,  like other Companies are doing,  will do the right thing and offer refunds.  As a once a year Cruiser, I will take RCI off my list if they dont and I am sure they will lose many royal customers.  Profits before peoples safety!!!!   I hope someone in Management is reading this.  I am not saying cancel, but offer a refund or credit for those who want it. Or at least to those who have autoimmune issue or disabilities.  I am traveling with a severely  disabled daughter , if she contracts the virus or is put in quarantine, there will be a very bad outcome.  Please RCI do the right thing!!!

We are sailing with you and are not overly concerned.  We are taking hand sanitizer, Lisol wipes, etc., and are planning to wash, wash, wash our hands.  We will also avoid (usually do anyway) the Windjammer as well as the elevators.

  2. On the Pinnacle Thread on another social media site, someone posted that each Pinnacle contribute a $1 for each cruise that they have taken.  Many will donate much more because of their love for the people of the islands that has developed from numerous visits.  ...a good beginning... it takes a lot of drops to eventually fill a bucket, but it can be filled.

I won't try to fix the photos in the Key West post.  Here's a link to the blog entry for that day:

The photos are at the bottom of the post.  If you click on the first one it should be enlarged with arrows at the right and left sides to go to the next photo,

Nice.  Thank you.  Looking forward to following on CC AND blog. 😀

  4. Thank you, thank you, thank you...

...for this wonderful review.  You have produced a gem and I will be a "twangster" fan from now on.

Thank you for your helping us.  But more than anything, thank you for increasing our excitement about our future cruise on the Empress.  We will be sailing with two of our dear friends who have been on the Empress' Cuba route several times and love this small vessel.

We wish for you many more excellent cruises.

I would.  I enjoy sitting on the couch and seeing a forward view with no balcony divider.  As I write this there is deck noise above me, scraping chairs as people move around but I never hear it at night, only during the day.  At times I think people must have ants in their pants because the chair scraping lasts for seconds that seems like minutes at times but it doesn't really bother me.

If that deck noise will bother you, don't book this cabin.

Thank you for you honest and open comments.

We are currently booked into 9600 for both legs of our B2B.  The 21-day voyage only has 3 sea days therefore most guests will be off the ship, including us.  The other 3 days will find us on deck...maybe even making noise with the chairs....and one of this couple does have “ants in their pants”.  If we were to change cabins it would be to one parallel to the pool deck bar with the “thump, thump, thump” during deck parties which would include us.

Thanks again.  I am looking forward to you next review.  Maybe our paths will cross at sea someday...we are on at least 6 Royal ships a year.

I suggested to Royal via email - they give Diamonds and above a deal on the coffee card - and the reply was - 'that's a good idea - I'll forward it'.   It would be great if we could at least get the card at a better price to make up for no cappuccino machine or lounge.  Something to make up for no lounge . . .

We will probably purchase the Deluxe Drink Package....40% discount per per person makes it tempting.  😁   Speciality coffee is included.

I've done some more recon.  This is area above cabin 9600.

The bend in the glass wall in the middle of this photo is the center of my cabin.  The doors to the forward elevator lobby and Windjammer are on the left.

What I'm getting a lot during the day are people sliding chairs in and out especially around lunch time when people are visiting the WJ for a meal.

At night people don't tend to hang out here so it isn't too bad at night but it tends to be a WJ seating area for folks who want to eat outdoors.  Sometimes the bar carts that they roll out onto the pool deck can be heard.

Interesting...thanks.  I really do appreciate your input.

We just got off an Anthem 9-day cruise in 13188...a cabin below the Solarium.  We had very little noise.

If you decide that 9600 is NOT a cabin that you would book again, please let me know.  OR if you come across an area that you think would be better for a cabin below, please let me know.

We have had a difficult time deciding on which JS to spend 21 days; a struggle we have never had before.

And seriously, YOUR reviews are the reason I decided to agree to do 21 days on the Empress.  My spouse is very appreciative of the role you played in this decision.

Another hidden discovery is that Wow! bands can be used to access your cabin.

Twangster:  please comment about the noise factor above this cabin...we are considering booking it.  Also, do you think  the balcony would be too chilly in a cool climate cruise.

    Thanks

Smoking is port side on both decks.

    Thank you.

We are moving to the Starboard side on deck 9 and would like to have your suggestion as to which cabin.  Almost all JS cabins are available.  We have considered the one halfway between elevators but am concerned that it will be noisy because it might be below the bandstand.

Thank you again.  We are very excited about the Empress due to your excellent review.

One other option....you won't get the benefit of the reduced price, but you can purchase the Deluxe package onboard.  I think I read it comes out to around $63 (maybe $67?) per day with taxes and gratuities, vs. Deluxe + Refreshment at reduced rates.  Ultimately, it's your call.

TAXES:  I  have only purchased the drink package a couple of times and did not pay attention to the price breakdown.

Do we pay TAXES on the drink package when purchasing it on board??

    Thanks.
