  1. Honestly, none of us has proof one way or the other. In any event there's really no way for NCL to force crew to turn in cash tips even if they expect them to. NCL has no way to know who has received cash tips from which passengers, and how much they have been tipped.

I have proof...in the form of an email from an officer (a very dear friend) of NCL that this DOES NOT happen (I also have adopted sons as crew members).....I have in the past, took my service charges off and paid cash...until my friend explained it like this....

    What happens is this:

The daily service charge is divided among all the crew. Any CASH given to a crew member STAYS with that crew member. However, if you take your service charge off and pay a crew member in cash, that crew member still gets a part of the dsc "pot"....so really what happens is the crew member you give cash to "takes" money away from the other crew members that didn't get paid in cash.

I have a lot of very dear friends that are on several different NCL ships......as crew and officers. I have adopted sons also on ships as crew members.....I KNOW what I am talking about.

1)THERE IS NOT a list of people removing the service charges......

    2) Since I have done so in the past, I KNOW that you CANNOT remove the service charge until the day before or the last day of the cruise

    3) Any cash given to crew members is their money and DOES NOT get put into the "pot"

  2. I will be flying into Fort Lauderdale but cruising out of Miami. I know that there is a shuttle that will take me from FLL to Miami, but not sure about getting back to FLL after the cruise. I am thinking about staying in Hollywood 2 nights before the cruise (airfare went up and I can fly in on Oct 9 cheaper than Oct 10 and pay for 2 nights)....I can't remember the name of the shuttle service that I have seen posted on here. Please help

  3. Does Pride of America have the White Hot Party?

    CJ

I have not sailed on POA but a friend did in Jan 2013 and it did then. I had told her about the party so they took white outfits to wear and she thanked me for letting her know.....I would assume they still do....the party is a Norwegian signature since they were the first cruise line to do it

  4. We decided not to take formal wear on our Alaska cruise. I just got this dress for formal nights since I can wear it either with or without the jacket.

I have a long one dress just like this that I bought at Ross......then later I found a cocktail length at Ross without the jacket....but same dress....so I wear the jacket with both dresses

  5. Here are photos of my fiancé and I on the second formal night on Miracle last night. This was the Adrienne Papell gown that I bought more than three years ago and couldn't wear until now. I held off on the warm melting chocolate cake until the last night, after I had worn the dress, which is completely unforgiving. It still fit beautifully after six days of cruising! Oh yeah, he loved it. :D

Would love to see all of the dress...the top is beautiful

  6. For me it is the same like watching a movie inside your cabin. That is not what I pay airfare and cruise for. Getting some sun on public decks is much more entertaining. I can sit on a balcony by myself and read or watch TV at home, no need to do that while on vacation.

Exactly the way I feel. I booked an Alaskan cruise just 2 weeks before sailing. All the insides were sold out (which is what I always book) so I went with an ocean view guarantee....Imagine my surprise when I opened the cabin door and it was a balcony. Have only "booked" a balcony 1 time and that was because it was cheaper than inside or ocean view. I don't go on a cruise to stay in my cabin. I am actually in it very little and by paying double price, most of the time.....I can sail more in an inside

  7. I just wanted to come back on this thread and share that I finally found a pair of seamless panties that I just absolutely LOVE. A friend of mine recommended them. They are by SaraMax and called: BestFittingPanty

I actually found a pair at Walmart of all places. I bought one pair of black briefs, which actually fit more like a boy-short not a granny panty.

They are by far the most comfortable pair of undies that I have ever worn..... and, ding-ding, no panty lines. SCORE !!!

For anyone interested, they come in briefs, bikini, hi- cut and t-back. The colors that I saw were black, white, grey, and a few mixed in colors like sea-foam blue, and a shade of pink and coral.

I bought one pair on Friday, just to try, and ended up going back yesterday and buying out every pair in my size. From what the sales lady told me, they are hard to keep in stock due to being so popular.

    Here is the link: http://www.bestfittingpanty.com/best-fitting-seamless-lace-romantic-hipster

BTW: they were a bargain at under $5 per pair. They had some really cute bras and such.

    .

I believe these are the ones that I have been buying at Sam's Club......

sure looks like them and when I went to the website and read, it sounds like them......Sam's has the 3 packs

  8. I read the Roll Call but wouldn't ever go to a meet and mingle, but I usually talk to lots of nice people as the cruise progresses.

I am unlikely to ever see anyone from a cruise ship again so if they don't like how I look, they can look away..

Try a Meet & Mingle the next time you cruise. I have made lifelong friends by first "meeting" them on the roll call and then actually meeting at the Meet & Mingle. There was 75 people on the roll call of my first transatlantic.....out of that 75, there were prob 25 of us that formed a small "group" and did things together for that 13 days. A year later, there were 18 of that 25 that did another transatlantic.

I also thought....who cares. You'll never see those people again....There was a couple on the first transatlantic who wasn't really part of the 25...but did have lunch a couple of times with us. 6 months after that cruise, I flew to Barcelona to do a transatlantic back to the states. Standing in the terminal after checking in, I hear this woman screaming "Kathy, Kathy".....I turned around and it was that couple. There were 12 people on that ship that had been on the TA, but not part of the group of 25, but all but 2 (crew members) were part of the 75.....

  9. Ladies, I need your help. My neighbor has a daughter that is 17. She is a junior in high school and has decided that she isn't going to her prom because they don't have the money for her a dress. I hate to see that happen, but I don't have extra money to go buy her a dress.....and Lord knows I don't have any in her size. She needs something for a young girl in a size 8. I know several of you were that size. Do you have anything that would work for a 17 year old that is dressy and would make her feel special? Either long or short.....evening dressy/prom looking

Ok, just talked to her mom....she might wear a size 10....I will have to post again once I talk to Amanda. She is only 5'4" tall

  10. Bottom of the scale is NCL. Short of your birthday suit you can wear anything you want on their suggested dress up nights. See dark suits sitting next to tee shirts, shorts and flip flops.

I disagree with this completely. I have sailed on 8 cruises with NCL and I have seen them turn people away from the mdr, not only on formal night, but on other nights as well. Just because it's Freestyle, doesn't mean anything goes. I have been on 6 different lines and I work "rank" the lines as follows...HAL, Pullmantur, Costa, a tie with RCCL & NCL, Carnival

  11. I just booked (yesterday) MSC Divina as a solo for Oct 11 (total $385) and Oct 18 (total $373) for a 7 night Caribbean cruise...I KNOW I will do Oct 11th, not sure about Oct 18th yet since I have done those ports...but hey, a b2b for a solo for under $800 is unheard of

  12. I have never sailed MSC....I've heard both good & bad about the cruise line. I had an internet friend sail on the Divina back in Dec and LOVED it. I am thinking it could go to dry dock before these cruises because if you look at the deck plans it says something about before & after April.....so if the deck plans are changing, that tells me a dry dock...but I thought this was a new ship, so not sure.....Doesn't matter at the price this is.....Under $400 for a 7 night cruise as a solo is unheard of....

I've set up roll calls for both Oct 11th & Oct 18th....come sign up

  13. MSC Divina 10/18/14 solo rates including taxes and fees start at $372. I may have picked up the last cabin at that rate but the next cat was $402. Great deal. Cruise goes to San Juan, Sint Maarten, and Great Stirrup Cay. For that price it could go to Pittsburgh for all I care. ;)

    I am booked for Oct 11th....solo rate, inside cabin, midship for a total of $385.05 ($248 + $137.05 = $385.05......only $49 more because I am solo)

    I am also booked Oct 18th.....same cabin....TOTAL....$372.44......$248 + $124.44 = $372.44.......Again only $49 extra because of solo

Two people in a cabin....inside....starts at $199 each

Not sure I will do Oct 18th since I have been to all the ports, but I will do Oct 11th.....I have until the end of July to decide......Only $100 deposit for each. Booking online can be a headache, I called yesterday morning. First time I was on hold less than 10 mins.....when I booked the 2nd cruise, I was on hold for about 45 mins

Not sure if this is allowed
