We had a wonderful cruise May/June 2019 on Sojourn.  We loved every minute of it.  However, my husband commented several times during our cruise that he thought Seabourn would be retiring the Sojourn.  I wonder now if that is the new plan.

I don't think retirement is the current plan. They have announced that all bookings for the full 2021 world cruise will be automatically transferred to the world cruise in 2022.

"For guests booked on the full 2021 World Cruise on Seabourn Sojourn (January 3- May 24, 2021)
In a review of our options and in light of the current world travel situation, our next World Cruise will take place in 2022 on board Seabourn Sojourn. The 145-day World Cruise: Extraordinary Horizons will depart from Los Angeles, California, on January 11, 2022.

To help you fulfill this incredible experience, your 2021 World Cruise booking will automatically be transferred to the 2022 World Cruise in the same suite at the same rate as your current booking, and they will receive the additional five cruise days at no extra charge. Any confirmed early booking amenities will be automatically transferred to the new booking. Although the itinerary is still being finalized as ports are confirmed and is subject to change, we’re confident the 2022 World Cruise will be just as exciting."

Just released. New pause in operations.

    Encore through 11/25/20

    Ovation through 12/20/20

Sojourn through 5/24/21 ( this seems strange)

    Hi

What is your source, please? I can't see it on Seabourn's website.

This speaks to the reality of a global world ( and this, just looking at cruising) that none of us can escape.

This is what really depresses me. Maybe I've watched too many disaster movies in previous years. In most of those where the world is threatened by a worldwide catastrophe, meteors, floods or whatever, governments throughout the world soon realise they have to work together and co-operate to meet the crisis. I should have realised they are fantasy movies. Now we hear claims, true or not doesn't matter, that Russia and China are trying to hack and steal and even interfere with vaccine development in the West and the US president decides to buy up the entire stock of remdesivir for at least the next three months so that no other country can have access to it.

As the UN Secretary General keeps trying to remind us - We are all in this together!

What kind of a world are we living in? Latest figures say nearly 15 million cases worldwide and over 600,000 dead with potentially millions to be at risk of starvation. What on earth are we doing?

Sorry, I don't want to upset or depress anyone and probably this isn't the place for such a rant but I feel rather strongly about this.

  4. Side note: The Book with Confidence FAQs now include some answers that I would have thought would have only been available to agents. I don't think they were there before and the answers are clearly addressed towards agents.

Cruise lines do not need a no sail order to know they cannot cruise.

True, but they are still not cancelling cruises that they know cannot go ahead in order to avoid having to issue refunds, rather than FCCs. When the no sail order is extended, they will have no choice. Only 8 days of the current order left.

And at the risk of being political, I'm not sure that the CDC is under as much pressure at the moment as Anthony Fauci who should be commended for standing up to the 'bizarre' attacks.

Isn't it about time the CDC got round to extending the 'no-sail' order. Or do they really suggest cruising will be safe from July 24?

Indeed, and yesterday the USA recorded the highest number of daily new cases which any country has had since the pandemic began....72,000 new cases, which will result in many more deaths as the virus continues to spiral out of control due to many ignoring appropriate safeguards.....unbelievable!

And yet Seabourn has still not cancelled the October Sojourn cruise from LA to Miami, in two of the worst affected states for the virus, via Mexico, one of the worst affect countries!

  8. I really wouldn't get too sanguine about antibodies tests. They offer no real assurance about any protection against the virus. This is from the CDC website.

    • A positive test result shows you might have antibodies from an infection with the virus that causes COVID-19. However, there is a chance a positive result means that you have antibodies from an infection with a virus from the same family of viruses (called coronaviruses), such as the one that causes the common cold.
    • Having antibodies to the virus that causes COVID-19 might provide protection from getting infected with the virus again. If it does, we do not know how much protection the antibodies might provide or how long this protection might last.

    The italics are mine.

If I book a cruise using my $2000 FCC and it gets cancelled by Seabourn, What happens to the FCC. Back in my account, lose it, or does it get refunded?

Logic says - 'lose it' should be out of the question - 'get refunded' extremely doubtful, why would they do that when they need the money and you only had FCC in the first place - 'back in the account' most likely and possibly with an extended 'use by' date.

But what has logic got to do with Seabourn in these days?

Do we not think this is a cost saving exercise - i.e. invited to retire?

I very much doubt it is a cost saving exercise. They will have to replace him with someone who can see them through the current crisis and will probably want to be paid more and with massive bonuses when they come out the other side. Maybe Orlando Ashford saw this as an opportunity to move over. It may be worth someone checking the two companies salaries' figures to see which was the higher paid position.

  11. This seems to be a new, I hope temporary, policy. A few people have reported being given not very good assignments immediately after booking since the crisis started. I have an OB guarantee for our cruise in October, booked months ago, but no assignment yet.

Lucky you Norm, on the first scheduled cruise back!!   And Norm, consider yourself lucky that you got a confirmation regarding your excursions.  We are close to 50 days and have received absolutely NOTHING from seabourn.

And, now that they have removed the Cruise with Confidence from the website, no telling what the new rules for using the FCC's especially since they from the last version have to be booked by the end of this year and with all the cancellations have to be for 2021 cruises only??

I don't know if I was just lucky to get the email confirmation but the difference might be that I called the Seabourn Club number  - not the general number.

You're right about the Book with Confidence. I keep checking the page and it has now been broken ever since the hiatus extension. At least they could extend the two periods to the end of 2021 and 2022 respectively.
