  1. Thank you everyone for your comments and I do take everything on board. What I found so galling is the decision taken by X to arrive at 12 which precludes a trip to GBR! As people have remarked X could have decided to arrive earlier to give an opportunity for everyone. Now we seem stymied and late arrival was not made clear at time of booking- In UK we call this Trade Descriptions!

  2. Thanks Cynthia

When I booked the cruise in January NO shore excursions were available yet the blurb specifically stated GBR so surely it is a fair assumption to assume X would offer GBR.

Its very glib of people to tell me to book another cruise as flights were critical and frankly to circumnavigate Australia and not see the GBR is like going to Egypt and not seeing the Pyramids!

It frankly is ridiculous especially when X promoted GBR in advance- it really is unacceptable especially when you are paying top dollar for back to back cruises.

I live in the UK and I will not be coming to Australia again in my lifetime!"

  3. Hi

I just thought i would advise you all of the problems I had with Celebrity regarding the lack of opportunities apparently to visit the GBR via Yorkeys Knob/Cairns.

Having booked this cruise 1 year before departure on back to back from Auckland I am furious that we are not ,at this moment in time, being offered the GBR trip. Apparently this is due docking at 12.00 which does not leave enough time with 6pm departure.

This frankly strikes me as ridiculous planning by Celebrity as they have almost a year to effect a change. I wanted to advise you all that I have taken up the cudgels with Celebrity and ave been n touch directly with the Ceo Michael Bayley's office and expressed my displeasure. I had attempted to speak to both UK and Florida offices but frankly got nowhere. i would not take no for n answer and would appreciate some assistance from fellow cruise passengers and I will inform Mr Bayley's office of your dissatisfaction also. I am sure that a powerful bunch of dissatisfied cruisers would have more impact.

I am more than willing to act as the conduit here so please put a message on CC or email me directly at anthonyhblake@btinternet.com and I will forward all these on. I have already received a reply from the office with profuse apologies and blaming the tour operators which is a complete cop out on Celebrity's behalf.

They have almost 1 year to change the itinerary in order to arrive early - I for one thought that the GBR would be offered as a trip as it is one The Wonders of the World and to circumnavigate Australia and not be given the chance to see the GBR is patently ridiculous and not acceptable.

I will post this message on the other 2 links and please reply to me ASAP in order to remedy this situation.

  4. This whole farago is complete and utter nonsense! Why is everyone so uptight about the drinks or lack of drinks etc? There is more than adequate choice and frankly if we will end up on Azamara with some non stop drinkers trying to maximise every last " free drop" that id not my sort of holiday or people we want to be associated with! Are people not aware of how much they should realistically be drinking anyway or do they want to completely ruin their livers?

    Unbelievable! get a grip.

  5. I cannot believe how irate some people have become and the nonsense being spouted!

The Azamara experience is what we all enjoy and the welcome and staff etc - if you are all so worked up about a particular drink not being available etc - then take it on board - it really is so petty and unworthy.

  6. We were on the Singapore to HK cruise last winter, which stopped in at Bangkok and 3 ports in Vietnam. While we enjoyed the 2 Azamara excursions that we took (primarily because of time restraints, to ensure that the ship wouldn't sail without us!), and they were nice as large bus tours go, we truly enjoyed the one on one experience of a private guide and driver. It saves so much time to be dropped off at the sites and then have a driver waiting to pick up you and your guide when you're done. You can cover a lot more territory that way. Also, we found the guides in both Bangkok and Vietnam to be extremely reasonably priced, in fact, a downright bargain.

    Hi

We are booked on the Journey Nov 25th Singapore to HK and very interested in the private guides information- do you have any email addresses etc for these guides so we could follow up- would be much appreciated
