So actually purchased $1K worth on Sunday, were supposed to be delivered Tuesday, then changed to Wednesday, and today now changed to delivery for Friday. 🤣  I'm tired of staying at home waiting for the delivery, this will be 3 days of waiting.  I have never had this much confusion on a delivery before.  Hopefully we will both receive our cards soon, 😁.

You can track your package right on the aarp website without calling:
On the Rewards for Good page, click on "REDEEM POINTS" in the lower right corner.

On the page it brings you to, click on 'MY REWARDS"
Under "RECENT TRANSACTIONS" find your purchase. It will say "shopping" on the left following the date. To the far right is a tab that says "DETAILS">

Once on details to the right ofd the item purchased click on 'TRACK PACKAGE". All the updated tracking info should be there!

Once you find this you will never call AARP back again!

  2. Ok. So I purchased $500 Ecard. What are my options now? Print out receipt and take it with me on my cruise? Add to my existing reservation? What is the safest ways to handling this?

You receive two emails when purchasing. The first is a receipt/order confirmation; the 2nd says "You've received an eGift card". The second one is the one that gives you the giftcard number and PIN. When you apply it to your cruise balance (or excursions, drink programs or anything purchased through your cruise manager) those are the numbers you use. If you bring it on your cruise to apply to your sign and sail card, that 2nd email is the one you would print and bring with you! Hope that helps!

  3. Not clear still on how best to use the GC. We do not cruise often, going in May 7day on Dream, will have 2 cabins(adult and kids in each). We plan to buy 1 Cheers package and go on maybe 2 excursions. So if I buy say a $500 card, I can add that as credit to my S&S card before the cruise and use that once I am on the ship to buy the Cheers program or anything else we want to buy extra? In putting it on the SS card is that what Cruise Cash is? Also can you use the GC to prepay for excursions? But they are not just pre-paid debit cards right so you cannot use them to say book an excursion that is not with Carnival for example?

Will try to help (though keep in mind in fairness to the hundreds who get notifications on each and every post from this particular thread, that the purpose of this thread is ONLY to be notified when AARP gift cards for Carnival are available)!

AARP gift cards can be used to pay for anything that you can purchase on your particular cruise ONLY through Carnival. That includes paying your cruise, booking excursions, and also paying your Cheers program in advance. Just a hint. Purchase your Cheers program in advance which is discounted by Carnival ONLY in advance. Then pay for it using the AARP gift cards which afford you an addition 10% discount on the total cost.

As for excursions booked outside of Carnival (and this is only my experience), many do not accept any credit card payments when walking off a ship and purchasing. If they accept credit cards, they may or may not accept credit card gift cards and certainly not one that is only Carnival specific as the AARP cards are.

Hope this helps, but it is helpful and appreciated by all of us who subscribe to this particular thread if you start a new thread with your questions!

  4. how long does it take for the Aarp cards to arrive? next Friday need to pay off my cruise, was wondering if they would arrive by than.

In answer to your question, the tracking for the cards I purchased on 7/27 are scheduled to be delivered by end of day on Monday 7/31. That's pretty fast considering the closest UPS location to me is 50 miles away! I believe they are only shipped UPS requiring signature when over $500 so I am unaware if the delivery time is faster or slower for say a $100 card. I ordered five $100 cards which does require signature.

  5. Ordered and had them in 3 days. $500 cards so they used UPS. For the first time no signature was required (label said carrier leave if no response). Kind of not happy about that. $3000 in gift cards in envelopes by my front door. Wonder what would happen if they disappeared?

This really surprises me that they left it. I just received my tracking from my purchase on Thursday and it is UPS and requires signature (ordered five $100 cards). The only ones I purchased in the past that did not require a signature were when I purchased less than $500 total. The one time I was not home they left a post-it on my door notifying me of the delivery attempt and date they would try again.

  6. The information on the aarp gift cards is on dozens of threads on this forum (there is a search feature on the forum menu under "Carnival". The original purpose of this thread was for someone to post when they became available and it was much more helpful. Now we get notifications several times a day and the majority are not posting about card availability! Not trying to flame anyone...just thinking we need to get back to being a notification thread and look elsewhere for the info!

  7. I too had to call for a large quantity of gift cards I purchased. To verify everything.

I did mean to say anyone was incorrect...only that my experience on at least 10 purchases never required a phone call to confirm!

Perhaps there is a difference in payment methods or requirements on some credit cards? I have ordered up to three $500 at once and have never had to call to confirm (or on any of my orders even if it was only for one)!

  8. We have purchased over $2,000 of these in $500 increments, and we have had to sign for each shipment from UPS. We also have to call Rewards for good each time to confirm the purchase. They send you an email with a code you have to give them within a few days or the order is cancelled.

If you link your AARP card to the account you get double the daily points for just logging on.

We also only purchase the $500 cards, but have never had to call them to confirm an order. Perhaps you see the "From address" on their email which is "contact us@destinationrewards". The confirmation email does give if you a phone number to contact if there are any problems, but nothing about confirming! Here's what ours order confirmation email states:

The details of your Rewards for Good order are below. You will receive a shipping confirmation email when your order has shipped. If your order includes magazines or gift cards you will not receive a shipping confirmation for these items. Please note that for faster service, your items may be sent in multiple shipments. If you have any questions, please contact Customer Service at 888-842-2891.

  9. No electronic option to receive GC #/pin?

My final pmt date is 11/9, not sure they'd get here in time.

You have plenty of time to get one if you order the $500 card. They are sent UPS with a signature required. I ordered one last Friday and it will be here tomorrow. If you order $100 cards they are sent regular mail and there is no tracking info. If your final payment is less than $500 you can use the remaining balance for your sign and sale card!

  10. Last month our grandson had two $100 giftcards on their cruise which we had given him. When they first went to apply them, the guest service person made a mistake and entered the value as $1000 for the first card in error. He then told him that the computer was down and they would have to return to get the card applied. Fortunately, they got the print out receipt from guest services with the last 4 digits of the card and the value showing incorrectly at $1,000, along with the card.

The next morning they went back to guest services. Their 2nd card was put on their account correctly. When the 2nd guest services person went to check the first card, there was no longer a balance left on the card. They proceeded to tell him there was nothing they could do and he would have to call the card company when they returned from their cruise. This information from guest services was totally wrong, as according to aarp, the card was redeemed.

It has now been over a month, and they were just credited the $100 from Carnival. Carnival main office told them they should not have left the ship without getting it resolved.

DOUBLE CHECK your receipt from guest services for each card before you leave the desk. Be diligent in getting it corrected onboard. When you are applying the card at guest services, the screen comes up and asks if you want a printed receipt. Make sure you check yes. And finally, check your sign and sail account to make sure each amount has been credited!

  11. Just to update on card status. On 11/13/15 I ordered a $100 card that I didn't need but couldn't resist buying because they were up so long. Today the USPS delivered the card no signature needed. Bonus flier was in the envelope.

I ordered 3 cards on 11/11 and still have not received them. I called them yesterday, and the said they were shipped USPS on 11/13 from Ohio (to Florida). They told me if I hadn't received them by 11/25 to call them back. Sure hope they get here by then!

Has anyone not received the cards as ordered? If so, what resolution was given?

  12. Am I the only one that is grossed out at the twirling of the napkins in the dining room?

Seriously.... All those germs just flying around the room.

Seriously.... Leave when the music starts. If you are a germaphobe, you may want to select another form of vacation travel.

  13. Just go to book an excursion. When you get to the payment page, click on pay with a gift card then check the balance and back out.

The physical cards do have a pin# to use if you scratch off the Grey panel on the back. Then you can use the regular check gift card balance tool on Carnivalgiftcards dot com.

Without going to a payment page you can also just go to the "check your balance" here!

  14. Just as a reminder...many of us are on instant notification for this thread because the purpose is to notify us of when aarp gift cards are available for purchase.

By the way, because of this notification I ordered another $500 this past week and got the email yesterday that they are on their way UPS! Thanks to those who posted the notification!

  15. Where do you check the balance. On the carnival site you need a PIN number. I just got my cards yesterday and would like to make sure they are all loaded correctly.

I googled "Carnival gift card balance" and it brought up the link to check the balance. The $500 I received this week was just fine! Hoping to get a couple more in the future! (I would have posted the link, but didn't think cruise critic would allow the links!)

  16. Turn complete and heading down the channel;

Carnival Breeze Day 1 by paulmedik, on Flickr

Thank you so much for taking this photo! We have that room on our upcoming sail on the Breeze! And to think I was having 2nd thoughts on our room selection! Not now! Thank you again for the fabulous review and for the shot above!

  17. That sounds like a very good idea. I didn't know I could do that. We are flying American. So..can you please explain what we do specifically? You said we call 12 hours prior to see if we can get on standby of a particular flight we're interested in. Then I assume we get to the airport in the appropriate amount of time for that flight. What happens next at the check in counter and where would we be instructed to go...do we wait at that gate and see what happens and find out last minute? Where is the boarding pass issued..right at the gate? But then if we don't get on that flight..where do we go to get the boarding pass of our original flight..do we need to go all the way back to the check in counter? I'm just trying to find out how it all pans out ..step by step. Thanks

I would call American to find out the specifics on options for an earlier flight. On a recent flight to Hawaii (also American), we were told to just show up at the airport at 6:00am, go to the desk, and were placed on the standby list for the earlier flight. Then we went to that gate, and waited to see if we could get on (several classes of "standbys" went in front of us) yet we still got on the first flight to Dallas.

Then we went to the 2nd gate, and checked in for the stand by list for the final flight. You just wait until the very end of boarding before you know if you are on! Good luck! (There were no charges)!
