Veterans... All gave some, some gave all..
"Courage is being scared to death- but saddling up anyway."
Yeah that's true, but it's the pucker factor that keeps you glued to the saddle!:D

Is there anywhere in particular that you can see listings of upcoming military appreciation or veterans cruises? I was looking for something on Carnival, but when I enter the search term at the Carnival site, it comes back with an entry from 2007 (that doesn't work).
The site we use is the Armed Forces Vacation Club dot com. They have space A places all over the world and can probably help with cruises. The one thing I've noticed about a bunch of vets/retirees getting together is that all our stories get better with time and you had better not be standing near a fan.;):D:eek:

I believe it applies only to active duty and their dependents. On the Continental website, it states 'active us military personnel'. It doesn't matter whether your traveling on orders or leisure. Dependents receive this benefit when traveling with the military member. Unfortunately, retired members are not eligible.
Us retirees never die, we just fade away. Most civilians have no idea what color shows whether we're active or retired. :D

Wearing my class A uniform was great, but it sure added a lot of weight in the suitcase, so I bought a white dinner jacket and tux pants and just wear my miniature medals. Now I don't have to bring my uniform cover and worry about where to put it (no hat racks).
You could even wear your miniatures on a suit and that would be acceptable too. For veteran's meetings I wear a baseball cap showing my service. With Princess I get cruise credits starting at $100 for a 7 day cruise and on Veteran's Day they had a super program hosted by the Captain of the ship.

The Orinoco Was one of the ships that my parents used to get back to Mexico, back in the early 30's. There is an excellent photo of her on the internet.

We won a free dinner in the Italian restaurant aboard the Sapphire Princess, and nothing was as good as what was served in the International dining room. We were very disappointed, but it was free. As far as the tenderness of any steak, the rarer the steak the more tender it is. Any well done steak can be used for shoe leather.:D:D

Don't forget that by buying 100 shares of CCL stock you can get shipboard credit on every cruise line owned by Carnival. That is well worth the price of the stock, if you cruise a lot. I cruised a lot with the navy and Coast Guard but never did get cruise credits for that, dang it!!!:D
