Has anyone actually received FCC in this manner? This is the letter we received. It states a Future Cruise Credit of 20% of “paid cruise fare”..

My invoice from my travel agent reads:

CRUISE FARE $1,696 (20% of this is $340)

NCF $700 (if this is added then my FCC is $480)

GOVERNMENT TAXES $350 (if this is added then my FCC is $550)

And I’m sure Princess is not going to reimburse me for airfare ($1,800) insurance or anything else…
It is a “goodwill gesture” and while I appreciate this effort, IMO $340 is not nearly enough for what we missed. Not to mention we had 8 Sea Days (originally had only 6) on a VERY crowded ship…

As far as weather conditions..really who knows? I chose the May dates because Iceland has less rain in May..Even though we have 25 cruises with Princess, this cruise has made me rethink ANY cruise itinerary…

  2. Just as an aside, the two ladies who went to New Zealand were New Zealander’s, returning from Britain for a family funeral.  They.only completed half of their 14 day quarantine for compassionate reasons and it is not known where the virus came from as it could have been on the plains or en route as well as from the UK.

  3. Hi everyone.  We have booked Silver Moon leaving on 13th April from Athens, 9-night cruise in a veranda suite, sailing to Venice.  We have an overnight stay in Venice on board and (as part of the package) transfers to Lake Garda, staying 6 nights at Grand Hotel Gardone and then transfer to Verona Station where we catch the Orient Express for two days.  This takes us to Calais where we travel by coach through the channel tunnel and joins the British Pullman for afternoon tea and trip from Folkestone to London Victoria station, ready for our onward journey home.  I don’t know how much the  Silver Moon element of the package has cost, but we are very happy with the overall package, so that’s good.

  4. Does anyone have photos and/or dimensions of accessible cabins, so that my son and wife can make an informed decision as to whether such a cabin would be suitable. My son is in a manual wheelchair and uses it most of the time, although he may well move around the cabin on foot. It would really help him to make up his mind as to Magnifica or P&O Britannia. Many thanks in advance.

  5. Don't want to upset you but October is mid hurricane season in the Caribbean with the high winds crossing the Atlantic. Been there and have the T shirt, never again. Best time is Christmas through to June, while July August and September can be iffy. Sorry!

I'm sorry that was your experience. We sailed on Discovery last year, on a re-positioning cruise from Palma via Cartegena, Madeira on to Antigua and it was just like a pond for the whole cruise - perhaps we were just lucky. We thought that th end of the Hurricance season was November?

  6. Yes we booked three weeks ago for next October from Palma going to Gibraltar Lisbon Malaga cartegena 22 nd Octiber , but before that we are going in two weeks under rci from Venice so it will be interesting to see the difference from this time to next October can't wait will be at hotel at Gatwick this time in two weeks

We are also on this cruise in October, but have not seen many others on CC. As mentioned, there are more pax chatting on FB.

  7. It's not a silly question we are doing TA on Azura in March, there are four formal evenings but can't find out when they are.

The first one will probably be the first day after boarding. The last one will probably be the second to last day, the last day being packing.

However no idea when the other two will be, except if you have sea days they will normally be on a sea day or a port that leaves early.

Hiya. I was just reading your question about formal evenings on Azura and noticed that you were in the Navy from 1972-1978 and that one of your drafts was on Monkton. My hubby was buffer of the Monkton, sailing her out from Plymouth in the first week of January 1972. I joined him in Hong Kong in May, one day after the ship arrived. We were just wondering whether you were on Monkton between 1982-1974 and if so, who you are!! If this is the case you could contact me on nanniejean@icloud.com. If not, just let us know via these boards. Cheers Jean S

  8. We like Freedom dining because my hubby cannot hear when he is in an environment which is noisy. He is not unsocial, he just cannot hear when the background is noisy. We have met many people in the situation of actually being on a table of two next to another table of two, where conversation is great and manageable, but this is difficult in with fixed dining, so we opt for Freedom whenever it is available. I love to chat, but not at the expense of my hubby's discomfort, so it is wonderful when we get the option of Freedom dining.

  9. Hope you don't mind me asking but how can you get these discounts? Are they offered only on set times etc really early or really late?

Do you keep an eye on the daily newsletter this this offer?

Is a discount something you can ask for when booking on embarkation day?

    Thank you!

We were on the Eclipse in September, eating dinner in the Moolight Sonata MDR when we were approached and offered $20 off - very special offer which we very gratefully booked. The meal was absolutely delicious and our table was brilliant overlooking the wake of the ship as the sun set. We have to say we didn't actually look for a deal but we were very pleased when we were approached. Good luck for your cruise 😀

  10. During our cruise on Celebrity Eclipse to the Baltics we had the Classic Package. We opted on most nights to drink Bombay Sapphire. Yesterday I looked at the latest Classic package which did not include said brand on Classic. Today I had an email from our TA, in which there was a link to the Classic package which includes Bombay. Perhaps we just need to wait until Sunday to ascertain the truth of the matter, unless ..... Anyone knows better!!

  11. Hi. I have seen a few responses from Celebrity at times on these Boards and would really appreciate some official advice as to whether the noise issue is likely to affect our future cruise. We are on the Eclipse from 13th September, sailing to the Canaries and Azores, we are on Deck 6, mid ships and starboard side. If there is a chance that our peace will be disturbed, I would prefer to know beforehand, at which time I can see whether I can raise additional funds to upgrade to a different part/deck of the ship - if this will even avoid the situation. I do appreciate that some passengers are not being disturbed at all, which is why some information from Celebrity would really help!!

  13. Congratulations on your retirement, I hope it is long and happy. We love being retired, my BH says it took him all of 10 minutes to get used to not working. Mind you, he does still do his bit as a magistrate. The next thing you will perhaps find is that you wonder how on earth you had time to work!! All the very best, we also love Celebrity and, to be fair, cruising!!

  14. This ship is a waste of time All we heard before are cruise is how beautiful she was what a disappointment no wow factor at all.The buffet is a joke the lawn club is a waste of space the pools are nothing special.Just nothing special about this ship boring:eek:

I amo so sorry that you felt such a disappointment. We love the buffet, it is one of the best we have eaten at, that does include Silversea, Cunard, Azamara, P & O, MSC, Fred Olsen, Costa, Thomson, Cruise & Maritime, Celebrity etc, so what do I know! I don't do the Lawn Club but I do rate the service throughout the ship, which is how I choose to pay my money to do the next cruise I select. I hope you find something that does fulfil your expectations and hope you share your experiences on this forum.

  15. Hi. We did this cruise in May/June this year and I bought the unlimited package at a discount on the second day of the cruise. I was reasonably happy with the coverage even though I was not able to use FaceTime, because the band width was not sufficient.

On a 15 day cruise, the system went down (for not so very long) on 3 occasions. Overall I was glad I had made the purchase, but I did make the comment on a couple of occasions that I was glad I was not on a limited package because there was a delay in connection.

I am joining the Eclipse again in September, but because we are visiting destinations I have already visited, I will probably buy a 240 minute package because I know I will find cafes ashore where I can get free WiFi. I did not find many such cafes on the Baltic Cruise, although that may be only my experience. Hope this is helpful.

  16. We just love Sue Denning as CD!!! We have had her several times. She is so full of energy and works really well with the entertainers, especially Perry Grant!! They cannot pay her enough for the joy she brings to all cruisers!

Hi. We are on the 13 September sailing on Eclipse and would love to know whether Sue will still be the CD - does anyone know if this is the case?
