  1. We are looking at an 11:05 departure next April after we leave the Majestic Princess. I want a nonstop to Chicago and it makes a difference whether we can leave the day we get off the ship or have to spend another night. We will be checking a bag each. I am Elite and can pretty much leave when we want to, but will have to get our bags. We would arrange a private car service.

I know it's tight, but is it even possible? Our ship is due to dock at 7.

    Thanks,

    Janet

  2. I purchased an adapter with the intention of using the outlet under the bed for a travel fan. It just dawned on me that the fan would have to be dual powered. Is that true? I have previously just used an extension cord from the desk. Perhaps that makes more sense?

I would confirm the restriction with your airline.  IIRC from posts made here, they do not all have the same restriction at FLL.

Added:  I was curious about this and found the following on the FLL official website (https://www.broward.org/airport/passengers/pages/cruisepassengers.aspx)

Due to peak cruise travel activity with multiple ships in South Florida ports, airlines at FLL may only be able to check your bags up to two hours before your scheduled flight. This is necessary to ensure that all passengers receive their luggage at their final destination. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you for this information. We are looking to have our bags transferred to the airport by the cruiseline. Therefore, we would only have our carryons. I assume we will be able to go through security whenever we want??? Is it just the bags that have the restrictions?

Why stress over this? When you are ready to go to the hotel, check uber/lyft apps for wait time and cost. If they are OK, order the ride. If the taxi line is short, take the taxi. If you don't mind the wait and cost, call the hotel shuttle.

No stress here. Just asking a question, since I haven't been to Ft Lauderdale for a couple years and I have never stayed at the Hyatt Place. All is good.

  5. It's been a few years since we have sailed out of Ft Lauderdale. What is the current rate for a taxi versus Uber to go from the airport to the Hyatt place SE 10th Ave? (just off of 17th) I attempted to get a price from the Uber app, but it was giving me $25-$30. This seems quite high, but maybe this is how it is now???

Just curious if anyone knows of recent pricing.

Can you click on order history? It should show the order there.

If you don’t see it. Go back to the old App. You can see history there too.

Yes, this did happen to me. I ordered before the $10 charge.

About a month before dailing, this OCT, it only showed my DH had ordered the OM.  So, I had to order mine. I paid $10.
I Know both were ordered originally with no fee!  I have a screenshot!  But, not important enough to bother.

Funny thing. They shipped separately, mine from Japan and his from Singapore about 2 days apart.

If you don’t have a history, then your order disappeared like mine.

Yes, on the old app it has an order # and the date it was placed. Thanks for your reply. I guess I will find out in a couple weeks when (or if) I get notice that they were shipped!!

  7. I ordered the our medallions for our January cruise way back in January of 2023. I believe this was prior to the $10 charge to have them shipped. When I look on the old app, it states they are ordered. There has never been any mention of a charge. On the new app, under Ocean ready checklist, it has a green check mark and says, "ready to sail." Beneath that part, it has a paragraph about ordering the medallion and a blue box "order now".

Do I assume they are ordered? I don't want to clck the "order now" if they are already ordered!

Just curious if anyone ordered them prior to the charge and stil got them?

Be sure to go into your personalizer on the Princess website and go to My Account, then My Profile, then go to Account/ Contact info.  Be sure that your Email contact is checked.  It does seem to fall off from time to time.

Thank you! That was it! Mine said "no" under email. I would have never figured that out!!

  9. Okay, so it's not an official policy that shorts are allowed, but some people wear them anyway and it is "allowed" or ignored. I get it.

We have been going to some all-inclusive resorts and the dress code has recently changed. I was just curious.

Thank you to those that have politely replied.

  10. We are elite, but we have not cruised for the past 2-3 years. Without everyone arguing about the dress code, can you please just tell me if dress shorts are allowed in the MDR for men? I am just referring to a nice button down shirt and dress shorts on regular days, not dress to impress nights. We will be on the Ruby 10 night Panama Canal in late January.

    Thank you,

Probably too soon.  You did not say whether yours is a full transit or partial transit.  We just got back from a partial transit 2 weeks ago (RT Fort Lauderdale).  We had previously done a full transit pre-pandemic.

Either way...take a close look at the excursion "Panama Canal & Locks Transit by Boat" when it becomes available.  I'm pretty sure they offer this for both types of transit (not absolutely sure...)  You get off your cruise ship in Gatun Lake and are shuttled over to a small boat terminal where you board a boat that holds (I estimate) 200-250 people.  You then continue on through the rest of the Panama Canal in this smaller boat, continuing through the remaining locks.  Our ship (Caribbean Princess) entered the Canal from the Atlantic side using the new locks (we'd never done the new locks) and then the smaller boat transited on to the Pacific using the "old" locks.  A VERY interesting experience going through the locks on a smaller boat!  You then board a bus and are taken back to Cristobal where you reboard your "big ship".

Thank you for your response! It is the partial transit. I will certainly look into that excursion. Was the day really long?

    Thanks again,

I will add an "editorial comment."  Princess has moved to a highly automated system with an App that handles all kinds of issues.  Why on earth do they not have a place on the App where folks can simply do this trade-in option prior to the cruise.  The process of trading-in for a coffee card (now all done electronically) is a royal pain for both the passenger and Princess.  Just getting through to Room Service the first or 2nd day of the cruise can be difficult and then those poor folks have to send somebody to each cabin to remove the mini-bar items.  Life would be simpler if it was done in advance (via the app) and they do not even stock the mini-bar.

    Hank

I agree!!! On the Enchanted in March, I tried several times to call room service, with no success. We had the drink package anyway, so I just gave up and actually just left most of the mini bar items when we left. Yes, you are right. Life would be simpler if it was done in advance.

I'm sorry!  I have googled and searched, and just want peace of mind as I am leaving in a few days.

Does the Sky move it's clocks ahead one hour to what would be considered Atlantic Standard time, and if so, when?

I have a private tour in St. Marteen that wants a definite answer today.  He doesn't trust the posted port times.

    Thanks!

PS our excursion is before DST switch on March 13 - so that doesn't come into play.

We turned our clocks ahead a couple of days in. (Sky January 22 sailing)
