  1. Why haven't they even mentioned the Fascination? It sails from San Juan, PR on 9/10 and goes to many of the affected ports (including St Maarten). I sail on that 9/17 and wondering what is happening with the 9/10 cruise to judge what I can expect with mine.

Same, I'm on the 9/24 sailing and I'm waiting for the same info you are. I'm wondering what affect the power outage in Puerto Rico will have on our sailings, if any. If the power outage isn't an issue, I assume that both of ours will still sail with a modified itinerary - there's no way any ships are going to St. Maarten anytime soon. :(

  2. I personally would be scared to death to bar hop in that city. I wont do another excursion in that city. My last cruise put us in unmarked buses with police escorts to the border. We passed many military vehicles with large machine guns. Go to an all inclusive resort. Way safer or stay on the ship.

Are you sure you're talking about Ensenada? The US/Mexico border is 60 miles away...

  3. We did this excursion in April, and it was a lot of fun! We had a very nice tour guide who made the whole thing a lot of fun. The three bars we went to were right next to each other, and at no point during the excursion did I feel unsafe (my friends and I were all females in our late 20s and early 30s). We got fairly tipsy (we drank more than just the included drinks) and it was nice to have the transportation back to the ship pre-arranged.

  4. My favorite is IT Cosmetics CC cream. It's got a matte finish and is SPF 50+. It's thicker than most CC or BB creams, but you can get a lighter coverage if you use it sparingly. Sephora and Ulta also sell a travel size that's great for trying it out. It's also one that looks great when applied with your fingers instead of a brush or sponge.

  5. If you don't care about the shows, go check out the live band FUNkology. It plays good music (70-90 hits) and the female lead singer has a very good voice.

I suggest this too! We made friends with Ollie (the male lead singer) during our muster drill, and we ended up going to see them play almost every night. Very fun!

  6. I'm a diehard Seahawks fan, and I'm trying to figure out if the game might be on the ship when I sail. I'm on the 10/16 sailing on the Splendor out of Miami. There are 2 late games (4:25pm EST) on embarkation day. Seahawks vs. Falcons, and Packers vs. Cowboys. No Florida teams. For those familiar with the local Miami stations, would they be more likely to show the Packers/Cowboys since they're both popular teams? Or Seahawks/Falcons since Atlanta is the closest of the cities to Miami? TIA!

  7. Carnival most certainly does refer to them as "elegant" nights. "Cruise Elegant" to be more specific.

To the OP: I've only been on a 4/day Carnival Live sailing, so I can't specifically answer your question, but I don't see why they would do away with one night. If anything, they would only move it to a different night. Ours was not on the same night as the concert.

Thank you! I saw someone's review of our exact itinerary and ship, minus the Live show, and the 2nd elegant night was the day of the Grand Cayman stop, which was the 4th day. So I'm just going to assume that this one is the same. :)

  8. Carnival does not call them elegant nights. You do not need to buy another dress. Something that you already own will be fine. Many women wear black slacks and a dressy top.

The Carnival website calls them elegant nights...? I'm well aware that Carnival's are much more casual than other cruise lines, so I'm not going to wear anything extravagant. But I don't even own a pair of slacks, nor would I probably ever wear them again, so I'd rather get a cocktail dress. :) Thank you for the reply!

  9. No, you won't be a plain Jane at all! I think a lot of people on cruises prefer a hassel-free look, so you definitely won't be alone.

I personally get eyelash extensions, and I love them. They're definitely not for everyone, though. I love how they look, and I love that I don't have to bother putting mascara on my top lashes. The only time I've ever worn false eyelashes was when I was going through chemo and all my natural lashes had fallen out. They're such a pain to put on! And I hated that I could feel them sitting there all the time.

  10. I've had really good luck finding cute tops and swimsuits at Torrid! I'm 29 and about an 18/20. I've found that Torrid has cute tank tops year round.

Also, have you heard of the brand LuLaRoe? It's a consultant-based clothing company, and I love their clothes! They have a kimono that makes the perfect swimsuit cover-up. I'm taking at least 4 of them on my cruise, haha. They also have a couple dress styles that are really flattering on us bigger ladies. I'm not a consultant, just a big fan of the brand! :)

  11. If you have a car and the time to drive the extra distance, I would actually recommend Northwest Trek. It's a wildlife park and much different from any zoo expierence. However, it's quite a ways off the beaten path.

I've never been to Woodland Park Zoo, so I can't give my opinion on that one. Point Defiance Zoo is nice, and they've done a lot of improvements the past couple years. There's a lot more to do in Tacoma than people realize. There are some great restaurants on the Ruston Way waterfront, and there is the glass museum and LeMay car museum downtown.

  12. I'm usually into high-end brands, but my favorite foundation of all time is the Covergirl 3-in-1 Outlast Stay Fabulous. It's full coverage, but doesn't feel heavy. I wear it in the heat and at music festivals because it lasts all day. My favorite way to apply it is in two thin layers with my Beauty Blender.

As others mentioned above, the it Cosmetics CC cream is also amazing. It's very full coverage for a CC cream, and I love taking it on trips with me. I can just slap it on with my fingers and go. :)

  13. If you're concerned about getting makeup stains on the line's linens, I'd recommend getting a Makeup Eraser washcloth. I love mine, and take mine with me wherever I travel. It's a washcloth that takes makeup off - even waterproof mascara - and all you have to do to clean it is wash in the washing machine or in the sink with some soap. I got mine at Sephora.

  14. Hey all! I'm wondering if any of you ladies have worn a wig on a cruise before. How was your experience? I went through chemo earlier this year, and my hair is at a point in it's regrowth that I absolutely hate. I like wearing a wig out with friends and to events, and I plan on wearing one most of the time on the ship if I can. I know it can get windy on deck though, so I'm a little worried about that.
