Thank you.  To recap, I will pay $210 now, then request the $105 discount be refunded as OBC through GS or Crew Chat once I am on board?  You were very clear, thank you, I believe I understand correctly.

As of last year your app showed the 50% off price I quickly booked from another cruise ship in Nov 2022 for a 28 day cruise in April 2023 before the last price raise.   In early 2022 they were still charging you full price and refunding the overpayment as OBC.

This is the important question!  If they are still testing on board and isolating positives and close contacts, this change will likely result in more people being quarantined on ship.  Not a good thing in my view.

I did 25 days on Princess in April, May we were not tested at all during the cruise and

all the  positives were found when they had to test to go back to the US.   We were

only a cruise of 1500 people by the second leg and I gather close to 20% tested positive at the end.    Keeping in mind anyone staying in Europe or like me going back to

Canada did not though I did a week later to go to Bermuda and fortunately tested negative

Remember who we're dealing with here.

Bermuda has a real cash cow going for them in that they also include a $40? paperwork procedure for all pax as part of their protocol.  They won't likely be giving that up soon.

And although the press release says "departing from destinations", what isn't mentioned is that it isn't just cruises originating from those locations - it's when they are destinations as well.  So although it begins with a Spain departure, I fully expect our October 31 TA back to the U.S. to require testing.  Not much chance the 'guidance' on testing will change here on this end -- until perhaps after 3 January 2023.

Bermuda had already said they will be requiring the testing and authorization at least until next year

  4. I have not done VV yet doing it in December but yes they are probably hoping that they don’t need it next year as do we all.   But all the ships I have been on this year have all used deck 9 balconies for the Covid wing

  5. Hopefully you have gotten through by now I have spoken to them twice both times rather that waiting on line I requested a call back first day which was Friday I called around 10am and got a call back about 5 hours later second time was Sunday

requested a callback around 8:30 and received a callback around 2 hours later

and after a bit of negotiation rebooked a cruise for early December.  Now just waiting

for my access Key so I can make it back to back

Many of the comments are right on. MSC and any other cruise line are very much alike.

The biggest difference I have found is the Food. I rate it not as good as any other cruise line. Quality, preparation, presentation and variety is not as good as the other cruise lines. That is my opinion after cruising on other cruise lines and even MSC in Europe and the Caribbean.

Entertainment is very good and very different  It is not Broadway type but still very good and they have entertainment every night. More great single singers who are some of the best we have seen on any cruise line. Do not expect what RCI has such as water shows or ice skating shows. Children would possibly enjoy other cruise lines such as NCL or RCI than MSC due to the different children type options.

Ships are very clean, classy, but smoke is very European. Too much all over the place. European women do not always wear a top on the pool deck. So, if you are not familiar with this, don't be shocked. Different categories of service such as Bella, Fantasia, Aurea, etc. Only anytime dining in Aurea or YC. Why, not allow it regardless of category?

Staff really tries to give you the best service, however, just like all the other lines, MSC is short staffed, too. Guest Services is very limited on answering questions as is the Internet and Main Office/Customer Services. Depends on who you talk to and you may receive many different answers.

The Specialty Restaurants are priced different when you purchase a  package. You don't get to select from the entire menu, only from a small portion of the menu.

Cruise Prices are good, but you can do well on other cruise lines, too.

Would I cruise MSC? Yes, in fact I have 2 MSC cruises booked this year. No one cruise line is the best or the worst. Try it for yourself and see what you think. No one can tell you this or that. I have had great experiences on MSC and poor experiences.

They are expanding and very fast. They are trying to get into the American market and should be there. They have been in the Caribbean since 2006 that I know of. Our first experience was on the MSC Lirica.

Read the good and the bad. Then throw them out and say....

My money, only I can decide if it is good or bad. If it is for me or not.

I personally believe you will not be disappointed.

    Stay Safe and Happy Cruising!

Actually 2004 I was on he inaugural Caribbean cruise on the opera in I think fall

2004 even then there were lots of bitching but I had a great time.  Sadly post Covid everyone has lousy client service they lost a lot of staff and you can get a different answer from each staff member for each question.   And then of course there is the wait times!!

I was told onboard that testing should be set up as soon as the ship clears customs and the first walk offs disembark. I would confirm this onboard. We got off at 8:30, had no line and results on 30 min (PCR).They do make you wait for you results and hand you a paper copy. They also do antigens onboard the day before for those doing B2B, so you could ask them if that’s an option for you too.

Thanks for your answer I am actually doing B2B the week before so will ask them at that point changed to the 3 hours later flight so I am not rushing so much.   Luckily Aeroplan are being really flexible at the moment

  8. Cruising out of LA on the Majestic on Saturday and wondering what time do they start testing on disembarkation by the time I fly back on the 12th only a Antigen will be required.   But wondering

what time testing in the terminal building starts.   Will do self walk off as traveling light.

I’m now convinced there’s some fraud involved. My PCC insisted I paid $699 base price when I called to upgrade. I insisted it was over $1,000. I found the original invoice in “all mail” box. I’m unable to forward it as an email or message. This is why I feel there’s deception. So I took a picture of my invoice and sent it to my PCC.
I’m looking to upgrade from a studio to a balcony, which is now priced at $629 for solos. But I was told that’s a “sail away” price. Yet, that’s the websites only price that appears. Yes, I made my final payment.
I’ve cruised NCL over 20 times.
I’m so disappointed this is how they treat platinum latitudes members, or any customer.

They only allow Sailaway to Sailaway upgrades and differences between the $699.00 and  $1000.00 is taxes not included in the base rate.

  10. Does anyone have any up to date information on the ease of getting to the train station from the port will be on the Star TA in April and as we have a very long port stop there’s quite a few people planning to do by train.    Has anyone recently tried getting a cab to take you to the train

    station early in the morning.

It was on my last cruise. I only had drink taxes, CN, and DSC on my account. Obviously the non-refundable I got from a price decrease didn't go towards DSC, but my account was credited the full OBC even though the drink taxes were less than it.

As far as I know NCL only differentiates between refundable and non-refundable OBC - there's not different types of non-refundable.

As for 1 vs 2 - if NCL hadn't regularly been doing a use two promo I probably would buy only one, but with that in mind it's kind of silly not to buy two.

If you buy one after OBC you pay $150 as you only get $100 OBC if you buy 2 you get $125 per back per CN so they only cost $125 so 2 or more is the better deal

So, the Cavern Club opens it's doors 45 minutes before the Beatles show. How early have people been lining up to get in, as it only seats 70?

I you want a good seat get there before the doors opened the one night we got there about 30 minutes before we only got a seat because someone decided not to wait.

Just got off the Bliss; it was not an enjoyable cruise. Way too many people for too small spaces. Entertainment every night in the atrium is fun, but don't expect to be able to get a seat. Same with the Beatles Experience. Food was mediocre except in the specialty restaurants, and service was poor in Savor/Taste/Manhattan Room. Passengers were rude, and the elevator situation? Let's just say that's where the rudeness really becomes evident. The best part of the cruise was "The Jersey Boys" and the aforementioned "Beatles Experience". They need to figure out a way to enlarge the Cavern Club so that more than 70 people can enjoy that show. Lesson learned: stick with the smaller ships that can handle the number of passengers on board.

I cruised her in December and agree with your points the Cavern Club is way too small for the number of people on the ship you need to get there at least an hour before showtime and same with the  atrium.  Service could be crazy slow in  Savor/Taste/Manhattan so if you need to get somewhere at a certain time tell them at the beginning of the meal.   Book your shows as early as you can when you board the ship but if you can't get a reservation turn up for

standby it always worked for us we never didn't get in.  My worst complaint on the ship was disembarkation got thereat 8am for self disembarkation and there were lines for miles mostly people who were other colours the crew did nothing about it and they just got off and were pissed when their luggage was not available.  It made things difficult for the staff in the terminal and also for people who were legitimately walking off.    I am sure people missed their flights that morning I entered the line at 8 and wasn't off till 9:30.   Hopefully they got feedback from the terminal and started policing the lineups.   But despite that was a good cruise and enjoyed all the entertainment despite all

the time hanging around for it.

When the Escape was sailing to Bermuda out of NYC the last couple of years, you could get great last-minute sales early and late in the season (May or October). Now that the Encore is sailing to Bermuda out of NYC, it might be less likely to get last-minute price drops because the Encore is the new, shiny ship. So not only are you getting the high demand of NYC/Bermuda, but the high demand of he newest ship in the fleet.

well Escape was the shiny new ship when it first came to NY for Bermuda and there were deals and there have been lots this winter in Florida so very likely there will be

So it only occurred to me twice that I eagered to become a Canadian. I immigrated with my parents, and when they became Canadian I was too old to change nationality with them as a family. Another time was 3 years ago, that I actually did the application to the last page, $900....I thought it was too expensive and I was unemployed that time... So I just kept my Chinese nationality. But it is irrelevant to this topic.

Wow the price has gone up I took Canadian Citizenship in 95 after 30 years in the country at that point it was $150.   But as it was such a hassle to renew my British passport it was worth it.  Sorry this has become such an issue for your family

The wedding is on! The happy couple, Judy and I had lunch with the Captain and Amy today.  That was cool in itself but, Bob and Betsy finally decided to get married on the ship.  It will be July 9th, or first sea day after Bermuda.  Marsha and Amy are setting it up in Insigina Lounge and everyone is invited.  We will let you know the time when that is settled on with the ship's schudule. I told them I was putting out the word. We are all as excited as the bride and groom.

Congratulations Bob so happy to see this outcome of this wonderful trip of a lifetime

  17. Can someone verify that you cannot get Virgin cocktails with the soda package? What would cover a frozen drink for someone underage? Surely a Shirley temple would be covered, right?

No with the soda package you just get soda's no other drinks not even bottled water

  18. Hey gang!

I have some time off in December, and I was considering a 10-day sailing on the Breakaway in early December. I’ll be sailing solo, and it looks as if that specifc sailing offers a solo-cruiser discount ... making the rate for a balcony or mini-suite SOOOOPER cheap. That being said, it’s a “sail-away” rate without any promotions or room selection. The price feels too good to pass up, but part of me remembers that you get what you pay for. If I pay the double-occupancy, I’ll get OBC plus two free-at-sea promotions (I’d do the drinks and shore-excursion credit).

Thoughts on sail-away rates without the promotions for a solo cruiser? Am I correct in understanding that I can still participate in the bidding process for upgrades?

Just looked at your cruise it goes from $1665.00 for IX to over $3000 I would hope no one drinks enough to make that pay off in 10 days

I think you need to look at the difference in price if it is worth it... it can be quite a lot and then look would you drink that much quite often it's 500 or 600 difference

And really not worth paying that to get the drink package with your cabin. I try never to pay double unless the cruise is an amazing deal to begin with.

  20. Whoops! We live on the west coast, but have family living near NYC. We do want to experience a smaller ship since we've always cruised with larger ships. What do you love about Norwegian Dawn?

If you want small ship do Oceana they dock in either Hamilton or St George I did it last year as a New England, Halifax and Bermuda cruise I agree with your timing I did labour day last year and compared to previous times it was uncomfortably hot
