I was there less than 2 weeks ago on the Regal Princess.
Taxi will take you there, one way was $10 and also you pay a fee to enter the park which is $4 for non island residence.
Then another $10 cab ride back to the port. Total $24.
There is a beach area restaurant and bar.

Also keep in mind that Alaska is a very big state so you will have to visit multiple times to see the best things.
I know that Princess offers very good cruisetours that are guided. They have 5 lodges in Alaska and they take care of all luggage transfers. They even have a cruise train that takes you right from the ship all the way up to the Denali Princess Lodge. Lots of tours are offered there too. You get checked into your hotel room while you are on the train and the train depot is a one mile bus ride from the lodge so it is very close. And the bus takes to your hotel building so no need to go to the main lodge. It really is very convenient. Check out Princess cruisetours very carefully because there are so many they offer.

SeaPete,
The Alaska Railroad train depot is about 2 city blocks south of the hotel you are talking about, the Hilton Hotel. It is very close but the hotel is up hill so there should be a bus transfer at the train depot but try and confirm that.

If you are on a Princess cruise ship, they have a Denali Express train from the ship all the way to the train depot at Denali Park which is a one mile bus ride to the Princess Lodge. It is part of a cruisetour only.

In the year 2015 Princess Cruise Line will have 4 ships to and from Whittier, AK.
There will be a ship in port every Saturday, either the Star Princess or the Grand Princess. And the Coral Princess every other Wednesday. And every other Monday the ship will be the smaller Pacific Princess, at up to 680 passengers.

Pizza is my favorite food so I plan on trying a lot of it on my Princess cruise this week.
Help with train from Anchorage to Seward
in Alaska
Posted
I read somewhere that this year all Gold Star passengers have a meal included in the train fare. Not positive that applies to the Seward train, maybe only the tran that goes from Anchorage to Fairbanks. Seward and Anchorage are only 80 road miles apart.
