we are considering upgrading from a deluxe cabin to a deluxe balcony cabin. Does anyone know how big these are please. The brochure doesn't tell you this
-
I have been trying to contact Thomson by phone to potentially upgrade our cabin. It is impossible to get through!
Does anyone have any tips or a " golden" number to ring please?
-
You will on Spirit and Celebration
-
We have just returned from Celebration, we were on deck 7 in deluxe cabin 0131. It was fine, not restricted views because of lifeboats and no deck outside. We have stayed in a couple of other cabins on that deck and they gave been good too

Thanks for the info

Does anyone know where Celebration is going after her 30th April cruise this year?
We are on that cruise and hope that it isn't a "wind down" cruise

In St. Petersburg we booked our own 2 day excursion through SPB tours ( you will find them on the internet).
It was superb, cheaper than the cruise ship and great value for money. Our tour guide, Max was a school teacher in term time and sooo knowledgeable. Very full days but well worth it. Our party had about 23 people, cruise ship had 50!
Max knew all the short cuts for beating the queues

We were there last Feb. On the whole better to take dollars although a few islands do take euros. Wat h that you dont get local currency in your change

Thanks everyone, great info

We are on Norwegian Star in Venice in Sept. Our flight back is late at night and we vacate the ship at 9 am.
Can you stay on the ship later? If not can you leave your luggage somewhere other than the airport and spend the day in Venice?
Any suggestions please

It's our favourite Thomson ship. It may be one of the older ships but it is spotlessly clean, the entertainment is usually spot on but it's the great, friendly atmosphere that makes it for us,
We are on her again in April
-
we are on this cruise. wehave been on most of the big ships but always return to Thomson, the scale is better and the ships are friendlier
-
Only in deluxe cabins and above
-
We are on the same cruise and according to my research into this you are right in what you say. We have multiple-entry visas for India, tourists to the UAE automatically receive a 30 day visa. UK tourists arriving in Oman via the UAE, as we are automatically get a visa here also but not sure if there is a small charge
-
SPB only do small groups, I think there were 18 in our party. The cruise ship excursion had 50?
-
We did the 2 day tour with SPB this August. It was fantastic, 2 very full days and good value for money. Our tour guide (Max) was a history teacher in St. Petersburg and his knowledge was incredible. The visa/passport system was very easy and slick

We have been on the same ships. With Thomson, the ships are older and do not have the same wow factor, but we always return to Thomson. The crew are much friendlier and we always seem to have more fun.
The food is just about on a par with P and O but not as good as Celebrity imo
The entertainment teams are usually excellent, depending on which show team you get and the west-end style shows are very good although I think we have seen most of them by now
On Majesty the outside+ cabins are a good size but the " normal" inside and outside cabins are small.
I'm sure that you will have a great time

The cost was about £180 pp, dollar equivalent. It seems a lot but it was great value. The guide (Max) had a set itinery but constantly asked us if there was anything else that we wanted to see. We travelled on the metro, he provided the tickets. We did all the usual palaces and cathedrals, travelled up to Peterhof via the hydrofoil, did a city walk etc.
Great trip

In St. Petersburg we did the 2 day tour with SPB Tours. It was absolutely fabulous, very full days but we saw everyting. Great local guide (Max) small group of 18 and very little queuing. They sorted out the visa,s

We have been on decks 1 and 2 and 3 and 4. Our deck 2 outside cabin was big enough for our needs, we had a porthole rather than a window. We did not have any bad weather so can't comment on that. Deck 3 cabin was same size.
We have also paid more and had a deluxe cabin on deck 6, that was much bigger with a picture window

We are on Celebration in April with free A.I. I understand from this forum that less and less is included.
Does anyone have a recent bar menu or any other information on this please
-
We have been onRoyal Caribbean and many time on Thoson ( but not Discovery yet. Other ships are more grand and usually bigger but Thomson do have friendlier staff and great entertainment, particularly if you enjoy production shows. I think you will find the food ok but maybe not quite. As good as R. C. (Recently it appears from this thread that the food has been a bit more variable!)
We have also cruised with Celebrity and P and O but always return to Thomson
My other half also loves the kettle in the cabin!
-
I agree with all the above comments. We have cruised with RCI, Celebrity P &O and always return to Thomson, the atmosphere on board is..well, just friendlier than the others. The entertainment is better, the food is good ( but not as good as Celebrity) and contrary to what anyone says the ships are VERY clean. The itineries are good and you usually have fewer sea days.....enough said!

Yes you can. Buying your alcohol from the on board duty free is cheaper than the plane!
Baby cots
in Marella Cruises (formerly Thomson)

could anyone please tell me what the cabin baby cots are like on Discovery2. Are the mattresses thick enough?
