  1. We really loved Jost van Dyke. A couple of years back we went and had a great time. More often than not, we book excursions with a third party. Thankfully when we went, we booked through the cruise line. On our way back, the boat we were on lost an engine and was having a hard time fighting the waves and current. We had to go to the nearest docking location and get bussed back to the ship. They held the ship for over an hour until we arrived. Not sure they would have done that if we hadn't booked through the cruise line.

  2. We really bring this on to ourselves. Every time a cruise line adds a fee, we complain and just pay it. If we, and I mean everyone, just said no and took their cruise dollars somewhere else, the cruise line would have to react to supply an demand in the market. When they raise the DSC and gratuities, have them removed. Pay directly to the service provider the amount you wish to pay. If people refuse to pay the added fees, service will suffer and cruise line will ultimately see less business. They will then have to react to the market. Ultimately people will just complain, spend less on other things that are important and do what they are told to do....Pay more for less.
