  1. We got off of her last week and loved it! The BBQ was amazing as were all the sides, MDR food was really good. I'll answer a couple of questions I saw that Trumpster couldn't.

I was in line for BBQ wayyyyyy back. They moved it really quickly. I waited for only about 20 minutes.

The did the "Quest Game" on the 7 day. It was in the Fun Times listed as "Adult Game" on one of the last nights. I didn't go, so can't tell you.

Amber Cove was very nice but the water is not clear and blue like the other ports. It was clean but murky.

YTD, we waited with beepers for around 20 minutes on the Elegant nights. All other nights we walked right in.

All in all, I loved the ship upgrades, the crew and the food. The only thing we had issues with is they couldn't seem to get us off the ship on time. We would be there an hour to an hour and half early and still get out late. Have no idea what the issue was.

  2. Just got off the Magic Saturday. The smoking areas are deck 5 just a little past the Red Frog area (like the pictures above). And on deck 11, aft, one level up from the aft pool, and half the Casino bar. I saw where it said that I believe the nightclub was as well, but I can't verify as I didn't go in there.

The only place they listed that you can smoke cigars and pipes is the deck 5 area.

  3. We just participated in the one on Magic last week. It was listed in the Fun Times for 5:30 and they had the Vibe Club reserved with a sign out front listing the event.

There were multiple Carnival people present. A PR person, the Hotel Manager, the Housekeeping Manager, the Entertainment Director and the CD.

They had the entire bar area filled with pastries, cookies, fruit juices, coffee and water. It was a very nice spread.

There was only 5-6 people there and they left very quickly. Another 5-6 wandered in and out. One gentleman, came simply to gripe about everything wrong with Carnival and cornered the PR person as soon as she walked in.

We stayed around an hour and had a great time with the crew. CC members dropped the ball on this one by not showing up. Carnival put forth a great effort to make it nice.

  4. My husband has a CPAP machine as well and we bring an extension cord and power strip for it. I always email Carnival before we go with our booking # and ask. They always send me back an email, giving permission, with the rules. I print it off and take it with us, just in case there is a conflict. We have never had any issues with it. Last time, they even flagged it on our account because the check-in Lady asked us, "So you have your CPAP machine and equipment?"

This is the email address for that: iCare@carnival.com

I just do it as a precaution, but Carnival's rules clearly state you can bring an extension cord and outlet as long as they are in good working order and safe.

  5. Nope. It's she, and we don't dine with strangers at the table except on cruises from time to time.

Why pay base rates not to eat base food offerings in MDR?

The whole discussion, and long run strategy blew right past your fixation for plate envy humor. Carnival +1, passengers -1.

Have to love when someone answers back with an insult. I can actually carry on a conversation without resorting to that type of behavior. Sorry to disappoint.

Your whole theory of long range strategy is just that, a theory. Could be a true theory, who knows. The real world, outside of cruising, already operates on a "upcharge" for people who choose to divulge. I pay more for box seats than I do for upper deck at sporting events. I pay more at a restaurant to change one of my sides to asparagus. I pay more at the car wash to get wax. All of those have base packages but you have choices to pay more for extras.

I happen to like choices. I like that they are adding more choices to the room service menu. I like that they have added more options in the MDR and I don't have to make reservations and change restaurants to partake if I choose. I like that I can choose if I want to pay extra for something that is not on the base menus, but that I don't have to if I don't want to. I like having options and I see no reason to complain about anything that I'm not being forced to do.

  6. LOL yes that's what's he's saying. I think the majority of diners do not have Plate Envy at the dinner table..lol

I was just wondering if, when at home and going out to eat with family or friends, he waits until everyone else orders before ordering so he doesn't make them feel uncomfortable and makes sure not to order anything more expensive than them?

    Plate Envy...cracked me up!

  7. We were on the Liberty, last fall, and had YTD. The very first evening, we had to wait over an hour and a half for a table. We didn't complain and just hung out in the lobby for awhile. Hubby went to check after about 45 minutes into it, just because 2nd dining was being sat and he thought we may have been forgotten. He wasn't rude, just asked and they were so apologetic about our wait. When they finally buzzed us, again, they apologized profusely. As we were leaving after dinner, once again, they stopped us and apologized again. We told them it was fine. We understood that it could be chaotic at times and that we were not upset at all.

The next day, we came back to our room around 3:00 pm from the pool. When we walked in our room, there was a plate of small desserts with a card from the hostess that said, "We appreciate you being understanding last night. Please enjoy these."

I thought it was very kind and that extra touch let us know that they really do hate making you wait and that they appreciated us being patient.

  8. Participate! First cruise we just kind of hung out and watched everything, pretty unsure of everything. Next one and every one after, we have learned that the more you participate, the more fun it is! Join in that line dance on Lido, even if you don't really think you can dance...no one cares! Go dance in the club for a couple of songs, join a trivia match, have your picture made even if you don't want to buy any...we've had a ton of fun just taking the pictures and making crazy faces or silly stances and looking at them later!

  9. Carnival was started in 1972 and Disney Cruise in 1995. I guess by that token, Disney copied Carnival by having a cruise line period...SMH. Yes, that's absurd.

My point on even commenting on this thread was because I came after hearing about the new "Pirate" theme being discussed and was hoping to see ideas and suggestions from others as this does interest me. That is how it used to work when I first started here and it was great to trade info with other like people. If you didn't like something or it didn't interest you, you skipped that thread. If you had a bad experience, you wrote about from a factual based experience not speculation, or you wrote a review. If it didn't interest you, you left it alone and let others enjoy it. Just seems like every thread I go into lately has the same people complaining about everything. I would love to get back to the old way. Ok, I'm done now and want to get back to the original reason I found the thread.

So, I for one, will participate and enjoy this. I'm thinking I might actually have to break out the sewing machine for this as bought costumes never fit me in the right places. It's either too big in one area or I'm spilling out of the other. I'm not about skimpy and want some coverage.

Does anyone have any good suggestions for DYI or good websites?

  10. I don't think this pirate thing has anything to do with their Marketing strategy, it is just another themed party night.

I think we should suggest that they copy Disney and have a Snow White night. You could be Grumpy. :D

Or a Harry Potter theme night and she could come as a Troll.....oh wait... :)

  11. Well said. It seems that some people think that if it doesn't interest them then there is no need for it. The hairy chest competitions and some of the shows don't interest me but I do understand that there are some out there that enjoy watching them. I just find something else to do at that time. I guess that ties in to the "It's all about ME" attitude that so many people have these days.

Thank you and I agree with you as well. There are many activities that don't interest me as well, but I think it's great that they offer so many options as people do have various interests. I was laughing about a complaint that the chocolate left on pillows was bad....ummm...don't eat it? Shewwww.....that was a close one.

  12. Great idea if you are 6. but for adults?......pleeeese. Hey Carnival quit wasting money on stupid stuff and bring back the steel drum bands for caribbean cruises. NOT cartoon characters.

Maybe if more "adults" would lighten up and enjoy being a big kid, people would stop complaining so much about voluntary things that they can choose to participate in or not.

I for one, will participate and have a great time. Just like other events on the ship, I choose to do some and some don't interest me. What you will not find me doing is complaining about things that don't interest me and questioning others on why they do find them interesting. Life seems to work pretty well that way.

  13. We are looking at going there in September (Playa Puerto Nuevo)

Is it a pretty safe location to travel with kids? I would love to see the waves crash against the rocks.

    Thank you for any opinions.
