  1. My plan is the following : given I am already paying $13.95 in daily service fees and $80.63 in services charges for the "free" UBP promo and $13.95 or so for service charges for the "free" SDP promo, I am simply going to demand good service and if not obtain a refund on my service fees. Trust me. NCL knows who I am.

Are these service fees going directly to the employees or Jack Del Rio's revenue numbers? I doubt 100% of it is being passed on to employees, and sorry that is not something I have control over.

If the average drink is $8.95 and at 18% the average gratuity is $1.61- then i am under a lot of pressure to consume 50 drinks on my cruise!!!

Given I have ordered one drink the last four cruises COMBINED and tipped $2.00 on it they are already getting 8 times the amount from me alcohol wise.

If I am not pleased with my service, I will simply fill out a contact card, get a refund on my service fees, and not sail NCL.

I have no problem tipping a room steward and always have, but this notion of service charges is going overboard (no pun intended)

I think tipping someone you have developed a relationship with is one thing, but to be expected to dole out $1 bills every time you have a drink is absurd especially on vacation.'

I am glad though I have this package- someone tried to scam me last cruise and bill me for drinks on GSC that I didn't order- and I had proof I wasn't even on the island at that time. Heck, one time I was double billed for a coffee I didn't drink as well.

They were apologetic when they realized who they were trying to scam.

So your theory is you'll extra tip the cabin steward (whose already getting tipped via service charge) but not the bartender?? Makes zero sense.

And my gosh you we're billed for a extra coffee? Oh the horror! No extra tips for ANY bartender.

Glad "NCL knows who you are" you sound like a joy to deal with!

I'll continue the occasional extra tip and continue receiving SUPERB service thanks.

  2. I see. You clearly have an axe to grind because you had a problem with your refund with Carnival. So let me guess. Was it an accident or your forgetfulness that you were 'screwed' by Carnival?

Yeah I'm not happy with them, you can call it what your small mind wants (axe) if you wish. When a company CHANGES things (IE Vista booked DAY 1 then they change cabin layouts, add many more etc) we agreed to I will take my money back thank you. Ever hear of a refund if the company substantially changes things, and you apparently feel that's ok? Not in my book. Sure they can (and do) changes things to better suit themselves, I'm good with that, however I can then change also and say no thanks. I should have to fight to get a refund for something 1 year out. Your incorrect assumptions about an accident or forgetfulness are simply wrong so unless you know details zip it.

And yes I'm done with them, MUCH happier with NCL and MSC thank you. Glad you enjoy the herd mentality...

  3. Just wanted to get some input from other cruisers and any tips on how to possibly win this battle against Carnival. Here is my story. Myself, my wife, my son, my daughter and her boyfriend who is 18 were supposed to cruise on the Carnival Paradise out of Tampa last week. Her boyfriend was denied boarding because he didn't have any form of photo id with him because he accidently left it in the hotel room in Georgia we had stayed at the previous night. We had his birth certificate and the hotel found his wallet with drivers license in it and sent us and Carnival a picture of the license. After waiting for over 3 hours we were told he wouldn't be allowed to board. Now we are fighting with Carnival to try to get the money we had paid to be put towards a future cruise with them. They are refusing to give us anything back or put towards another cruise because we didn't purchase the insurance they offer. We were told by the Carnival employees in Tampa that the insurance wouldn't have helped in this situation anyway but that is not what customer care is telling us. We have been on multiple cruises with Carnival and brought other couples previously on their first cruises. I am failing to see what Carnival feels like they will be losing by giving us our money towards another cruise with them. It was a 5 day cruise from Tampa to Mexico in the cheapest cabin they had so they won't be out much money in my opinion. Anyone with any suggestions on this?

Shame on Carnival. I know fora FACT one can FLY without an photo ID if forgotten. Sure it's not easy and takes extra time as things are verified but there is a program in place for these emergencies. RIDICULOUS carnival doesn't have some type of backup plan. Accidents happen we all have forgotten things. Yet another reason we just dumped Carnival (they tried to screw me out a a refund 6 as I cancelled a cruise 6 months out!). Bye Felicia!

  4. Submitted docs and received a match. My question is has we're already booked on existing first MSC cruise: is the upgraded status immediate? Will we receive all of the benefits immediately with the first cruise? For example, priority boarding upon entered terminal or do we have to wait till on ship?

  5. ....$8000 for a family of 4 for 7 nights in a balcony with beach ports and unlimited food is a fantastic deal....

    .

A fantastic deal??? HARDLY in my book, more like an absolute rip off to me. Glad your doing that well to consider that a deal. Not me.

Hence part of the reason 2 of the last 3 cruises have NOT been with RCCL, they're prices are absolutely higher than most with IMO nothing better. They've pretty much lost my business

  6. Just got off June sailing and passed. Personally I think that Vibe is COMPLETELY useless expensive "fad" as it has no pool! Holy HOT!!!!

Think about this, you pay extra to enter a small area that has no waterfall/pool/area to cool off. Then you get to pay even more for a cabana to shade yourself. When I stopped to think about this for awhile it really struck me as a dumb move.

  7. Having started cruising on CCL and migrated to RCCL and lastly NCL were thining things. NCL has been great but $$$. Just got off Getaway and we loved it (me,wife,12 year old). However the NCL (and RCCL) pricing prevents us from cruising more than we like to.

My question is what ships do you recommend that are most similar to NCLs getwaway. I know this isn't an apples to apples comparison but we like the following:

Activities (we couldn't get our 12 year old off Getaways ropes/slides for a week).

Bigger ships with lots of amenities.

    Newer ships

    Lots of dining options(non buffet).

Please list your top three ship choices out of Florida. Thanks!

  8. Agree completely. Just got off NCL Getaway last week. It was very nice and we enjoyed it but just booked Carnival Vista for HALF. I'd rather "slum it down" a bit and cruise more often. Sorry NCL you've gotten a little to greedy...
