  1. I am looking for the best area for first time snorkelers - maybe just from a beach where we can rent some snorkel equipment - or do we have to do a tour? One of the tours in open waters we were going to do - all the reviews said people were getting seasick because the water was so rough - I definitely don't want to get sick. Any help??

  2. From what I've read the bus drops off almost right in front of the turtle farm. We are doing this exact thing - taking a bus from the port to the turtle farm and then from there to 7 mile beach. :)

This I just found on the turtle farms website

Buses: Visitors may also opt to take the official public bus transportation system first launched in October 1998. The new bus terminal is located adjacent to the Public Library on Edward St. in downtown George Town and serves as the dispatch point for buses to all districts.

There are 38 mini-buses operated by 24 licensed operators, serving eight routes. Daily service starts at 6:00 am from the depot to West Bay every 15 minutes and the schedule is as follows:

    Route

    Colour Code

    Time

    Fare

    Route 1

    (Directly to Cayman Turtle Farm)

    Yellow

    6:00am - 11:00pm

    Sunday - Thursday

    CI $2.00

It costs $20 for up to 3 people to ride a taxi so the bus is def much cheaper options :) Hope this helps :)

  4. My friend signed us up for this. It was her and her 6 yr old son and me and my 8 year old daughter. A very sweet lady met us by the straw market and took us around Nassau. We went to visit quite a few areas - it was very safe for those of you who are skeptical. It was one of the best experiences I've ever had anywhere out of town because you truly get to experience the "real bahamas" - I can post some pictures if I can figure out how to do that on here lol - We toured a church that was being restored, met some people that lived on property and made fresh conch salad by the roadway - had fresh made conch fritters in a little hut and got to taste the salad. We toured a historical area that taught about slavery - we did some shopping, saw pirates cove, place where jaws was filmed - it was a wonderful experience especially for our children to see that places we visit are not all about big hotels and waterparks etc - There was a festival going on while we were there by the fish fry area so we joined in the festivities - danced, played games, bought some items and then enjoyed a meal @ the fish fry. If you get the opportunity to do this - I guarantee you, you won't be disappointed ! We loved it and sooo appreciated her taking time to come spend with us and teach us about where she lives!!!

  5. My first cruise was on Royal Caribbean Voyager of the seas - amazing ship! The last 2 cruises I've been on have been Carnival - the Triumph and the Splendor. My opinion is Royal Caribbean is a notch above carnival - however I loved both . I am one who enjoys going on diff ships/ diff itineraries. I think every ship has it's charm. On all 3 cruises we received amazing service, i always found food @ every meal that I loved. It's all a matter of personal preference. I loved that the hot tubs on the RC stayed open 24 hours a day. I don't know if it's like that on any carnival ships - not the 2 i went on (which I was bummed about). I don't have to cook, clean, etc so I'm one happy camper. I think there's those people that will always find something to complain about..... and I think with cruising you have to be very flexible - sometimes you may not make your port of call, you may meet rude guests, etc.... things happen but if you are flexible, no matter what the ship, you'll enjoy your time. I would cruise on either gladly again! We are going on Carnival in Nov and RC in March and I am just as excited about both. Just enjoy your vacation! :)
