  1. On our last cruise we treated ourselves to a new camera....Nikkon Coolpix (DSLR) in mini form....we have the big Nikkon, which I love but it gets too heavy to carry around all day plus the lenses. This little guy is 42wide, zoom , 4.3-180mm It's amazing! 4"x5" and a couple of pounds. Easy to carry. Can't change lenses, but so far we really haven't needed to for vacation purposes. My husband has a small point and shoot - but I could never hold it steady enough to get a good pix. This camera compensates for my klutzy hands, also. Has GPS...Great color and focus!

Which Nikon did you get, if I may ask. I, too, have a big Nikon with 3 lenses, etc, but sometimes want something a little "less" , but not exactly a point and shoot

    thanks

  2. I am looking to do something on my own, but also am open to trying shore excursions. What are some interesting things to do there? What have you enjoyed?

    Thanks!!

check out Thenford Grey - http://www.thenfordgreytours(dot)com

He has a variety of tours, and was the best tour operator we have EVER had. He also has a facebook page. Last time we did the "grand tour" I think it is called. Goes to Caribelle Batik and Brimstone Fortress, among other places. A true gentleman!

  3.

Yes, moving from ES to GTY does wipe out the ES.

We usually go in late Jan or early Feb. But family issues made us switch to the early Dec cruise. So am enjoying the price drops with ES :)

You are on our cruise - see you onboard!

  4.

The only problem with booking last minute is that if it is a popular cruise, you may not get the cabin you desire. For off-season cruises like this one, it isn't a problem. But I have a repo cruise that has been pretty much fully booked within the first couple of months it became available. And the prices are over 60% higher and I doubt I will see it below what I paid.

Well, because we upgraded to a guaranteed balcony, it took away our ES. I'll know next time - or at least wait til the last minute to upgrade. :(

Still a good price. We only cruise in early Dec - so you're right about off season availability

  5. So I just went into mine.

    1. Go to Cruise Details for this booking

    2. select View Cruise Documents

    3. check the box for Print General Information and press the SUBMIT button

    4. in the pop-up PDF, scroll down to Itemized Charges.

If you have OBC, it will be in a box below the "Itemized Charges" box.[/QUOT

that's where I looked- so gave her a call-hopefully we got it - it was about $70 pp - but when I upgraded - who knows - next time I will book at the last minute!

  6. Joy,

Go to the Cruise Documents in the booking. Scroll down the PDF file and it is usually at the top of page 2.

    Steve

When I check the invoice - it shows the original price -unless I am totally missing something. I guess I will give her a call

    thanks!

  7. Take it and take at least 1,000 pictures.

I totally agree! I used a separate flash card for each day and/or island. Our 7 day from San Juan, I ended up taking almost 9000. After all-it is easy enough to delete the ones that aren't good, and you might surprise yourself with that "ONE" shot. And take all the lenses you have also.

  8. So, we are cruising in a month with Carnival and I am looking at the Cozumel excursions that they have listed. There are two La Casa en La Playa - one says Rocky Shores and one says A Select Retreat.

Does anyone know what the difference is? Has anyone here been on one of these lately?

Neither is marked Adults Only,so I am not sure.

    thanks in advance

  9. I am looking at an Alaska cruise on Celebrity for May 2015, RT from Vancouver for 10 days, but have read mixed reviews about Celebrity.

We have never cruised on this line before, so please tell me the pros and cons on using Celebrity.

Also, do they have price reduction guarantee like Princess and Carnival?

    thanks in advance

  10. I know Princess is doing a roundtrip from Vancouver in May on the Coral Princess which is a wonderful ship to sail Alaska on.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums[/quote

Same problem -very early May - I looked at that because I know I can't go wrong with Princess

  11. I have been checking on some roundtrip, out of Vancouver Alaska cruises for next May, and while NCL had the 10 day RT I liked, it was only offered May 7/8, and I think this will be too early for the WPass RR.

Celebrity has one with several different ports, but we have never sailed on this line before and there were mixed reviews on the ship ,etc.

Has anyone done this particular trip and what was your experience?

    thanks in advance!

  12. not sure if this is still a good one, or not - **********@gmail.com

this was one of our favorite tours - after all the other island tours we did, didn't want to spend all day riding around in a van again. He says his minimum is 12, but we could only get 8 from our roll call group, and he took us anyway. I guess it would depend how many other ships were in port and how busy he was on his other tours.
