  1. So, how do you check for price drops now that the check page has been discontinued. I can check for my cabin category (ocean view) but cannot check for the actual type, as in 6C. Help! I tried a mock booking all the way to the trip details page, but it still does not state the actual 6C category, or any numbered category.

  2. Cruise prices have gone up across the board since two years ago. We were also on Liberty two years ago. The year before that we went on a 7 day out of Miami for $349 per person for a balcony cabin. Even short cruises are pretty pricey now. I still think it is worth it though. I recently priced out a 7 day cruise vs a week at Disney World and the cruise is still significantly cheaper.

Not sure about that. We are booked on the Dream out of NOLA in February during MArdi Gras for $1676 for 4 people. That sailing will spend a lot of money just on fuel, so I still fail to see why a small ship like Fascination costs so much. And size of the cabin does mean a lot to us since we sail with 4 adults in one cabin, one of which uses a wheelchair which must be stored in the cabin.

  3. OP here. We were looking at late April/early May 2018. The ocean view cabins are smaller (185sqft.) than what we are used to (220sqft.). There is no couch and the description of the cabins say that it is either 2 upper Pullmans with the lowers staying separated, or one Pullman with a trundle. Keep in mind we are all adults and my one son is disabled and he cannot sleep in a Pullman. Cost was around $2200 I think. So, we looked at 2 cabins side by side and the cost total was $2700, plus gratuities. Compared to our cruise 2 years ago on the Liberty out of San Juan at the same time frame at $1662.00, it is a lot more expensive either way.

  4. We were hoping to sail out of San Juan again, but looking at the prices for the Fascination, wow! It's an old ship and a small ship, so why so expensive? Because the cabins are small, we would need 2 cabins for 4 adults. If it was a larger/newer ship I wouldn't mind the price, but gee, I wouldn't want to be smashed in a cabin that small with the other 4 adults in my family. Thoughts?

  5. Speaking from personal experience after sailing on a Journeys cruise and having FTTF, it was a total fiasco when trying to get off the ship in any port. There were so many Platinum and Diamond guests (well over half the ship's passengers) that went before the FTTF people, at times it took us well over an hour to get off the ship. It was a total waste of money to buy FTTF. Carnival would also not let any of the Platinum or Diamond cruisers to take additional people with them that were not Platinum or diamond. Maybe things have changed since March.

  6. Now that I am seeing the locations, the Hertz location is close to our hotel, so thinking of taking a Taxi/Uber from the airport since we are arriving late, then walking to Hertz the next day to pick up a car. Thus I will save on the pricey parking fees at the hotel for at least a day along with a day of rental. We might even wait to rent a car until we are ready to go out of the city for sightseeing. Thanks for the info.

  7. We are thinking of trying MSC Divinia out of Miami because of their past guest matching program. My question is how accessible is their ship and handling issues of disability? My sons are in their 20's and both have developmental disabilities. One uses a travel chair on board. We do not generally need a handicapped accessible cabin. My other son has food allergies. Do they have a special needs department?

  8. We are thinking of trying MSC because of their past guest matching program. We always pick our cruises based on itinerary. Having been to the ABC Islands along with the Panama Canal, Costa Rica and Belize on Carnival, we would pick the Panama Canal, Costa Rica and Belize itinerary in a heartbeat. We loved every minute of those ports since they are somewhat off the beaten path and not as commercialized as the ABC islands.

  9. Yes, we can afford a cruise vacation, but saying the website caters to people who are more tech savvy is misleading. Unfortunately we live in a rural area and there is no broadband service available, so we have to rely on dial-up or satellite internet. I refuse to spend my money on high tech gadgets because we cannot connect to the grid efficiently. So, my old desktop running Windows 7 will just have to do until the cable company decides to run a line down my road. And I have an original Kindle tablet that works just fine, again until high speed is available. So, if Carnival is wanting to attract people with money that use high tech devices, I guess they will lose us, because we only fit half of that descriptor.

  10. FYI for those of you who might be flying back into the US from a foreign, at least through Baltimore. We just flew in from Mexico and there were no forms handed out on the airplane because apparently they use the computer kiosks when you get into customs and immigration. You scan your passport, answer the questions and you get a slip to hand in. HOWEVER, since we had a wheelchair, they still required us to fill out a paper form which they had to give us at the airport because the computer terminals are not handicapped accessible. We also flew in through Charlotte some time ago and their computer terminals at the time were also not handicapped accessible.

  11. Yes, these are the shows we saw in March and 88 Keys was the best. However, none of the Playlist Productions were very good at all. Only one singer was mostly on key and the rest were off key most of the time. The sets were high schoolish and it seems like they think constant fake smoke in the theater will help somehow. The ones we saw on the Sunshine in November were 200% better.

  12. We were on the cruise with you. We absolutely loved Costa Rica! Maybe it was the incredibly great tour we booked through Shore Excursioneer. My husband is going back to do an eco tour in December. The Panama Canal was really gret to see. We also loved Bonaire and Aruba. Took a golf cart around Bonaire for the day and in Aruba we went to the butterfly garden and did our own thing around town. Hands down my younger son loved St. Maarten the best, another awesome tour through Shore Excursioneer. Loved reading your review. We didn't love the cruise as much as you, but it is still in our top ones. Thank you for your review, I enjoyed reading it.

  13. Just got off the Pride, celebrating my birthday and my son's birthday on the cruise. As per an earlier discussion on these boards, expected some kind of gift or acknowledgement during the cruise on or near our special days. Nothing! Actually on my birthday, the MDR hostess did wish me a happy birthday. That is all. Nothing for my son.

However, my other son had a birthday earlier in the month before the cruise and he received a spa credit and free photo from Pixels. Go figure.

So, don't expect anything in the way of birthday gifts or acknowledgement on your cruise unless this fluke was just a Pride issue. If they are going to do these acknowledgements, they need to be consistent or not do anything at all.

Did this ruin our cruise? Absolutely not. Just somewhat disappointed.

  14. This year the Pride has been repositioned to Tampa for the winter January and February. Not sure what the plan is for next year. We just cruised out of Charleston in November on the Sunshine. Great city to visit and the itinerary was great but they only go there once in a while. We went to Key West once on a cruise and it was such an awesome place to visit, I would love to go back again, but not when combined with the Bahamas in the winter. So, I would pick Magic just for the itinerary. I had a friend that cruised to the Bahamas in February and she complained about how cold it was, especially the water. All they could do is sit on the beach in their clothes and dream of swimming.
