If you are using tenders in any of your ports you will most likely need a tender ticket unless you are booked on a ship excursion.  There will be information in the Celebrity Today paper (which is left in your cabin every evening) as to when and where tender tickets will be given out.

I would suggest being ready to leave the ship as early as possible and going for tickets when they start handing them out as you may have to wait before your ticket number is called.

Just returned from the July 13th sailing on the Edge, and this information is incorrect.  We did have to use tenders twice (Cannes and Monaco) but there were no lines and they do not issue tender tickets.  There is absolutely no reason to get "ready to leave the ship as early as possible".

  2. My husband and I will have a port stop in Monte Carlo aboard the Celebrity Edge in mid July.  I know that he will want to go to the casino later in the day/early evening but am looking for advice on beach clubs to visit during the day.  The Monte Carlo Beach and Racquet Club was recommended but at 300 eu for the day, that is way out of our price range.  Any other suggestions for upscale / private  beaches? Thinking about maybe even going to Nice...

    TIA

  3. Hello all and thanks in advance for your advice! We have taken several Caribbean cruises on both Celebrity and NCL but this is our first in Europe. I have always depended on this board to find great private tour operators.  One of our first stops on our trip this July is to Naples, and we want to go to Capri.  I've already booked a private boat tour (including the blue grotto) once we get to Capri.  Is it necessary or recommended though that we use the ship's excursion to Capri or is it very easy to catch a hydrofoil boat at the adjacent terminal and do it on our own?  The Edge gets into port early that morning and does not leave until 7pm so we would plan on leaving Capri around 4-5pm.

  4. We went on the silhouette last year during our daughter's spring break in march and given the chance to do any ncl or rccl cruise, se insisted we go on the same celebrity ship again (but different itinerary). She's similar to your son in that she feels comfortable meeting people and has said that the fact that there are not a ton of teenagers on celebrity actually makes that very easy. Forgive the pun but "they are all on the same boat". On lines with tons of kids and families, people travel together making it harder to meet people. She also loved the size of the silhouette, the special treatment, and the food. She also loves that there aren't a lot of crying babies/toddlers or wild elementary age kids. Every day we went together on excursions and had dinner together and then she met up with her new friends and they had a great time. During the at-sea days, they spent the day in the pool and playing basketball. She still talks to several of them and may visit one while we are in Florida before our cruise later this week. So as long as your son isn't looking for a ton of activities/shows/entertainment, I would highly recommend celebrity! While they might not really be seen or heard (which is probably a good thing), I promise you that there will be plenty of other teenagers on the cruise!
