I was on that cruise and my experience was much worse than yours. Even wandering around the ship, I often had no ability to send simple texts to our friends on board or to our family at home. And photos almost never went through. I found the whole thing very frustrating and certainly not a Regent "luxury" experience!

It was hit or miss.  Luckily for me (as I did have to work some on the cruise) we had relatively good luck.  Pictures though....sometimes took days to "send".

  2. I am an Android user and my husband is an Iphone user.  We were on the Splendor for the 16 night Christmas on the Canal cruise.  We were easily able to text each other with our phones in airplane mode and set to the ship's wifi.  You should enable wifi calling on both phones if you want to make or receive calls.  As an aside, the wifi was hit or miss.  Some days it was great ( I was able to participate in a Zoom meeting and Facetime with our grandchildren on our balcony) and other days we could barely send a text between us.

  3. We are experienced cruisers but this is our first time on Regent.  We have the pre-cruise hotel stay at the Mandarin Oriental in Miami with 12:00 port arrival time.  As we have a home in South Florida, we typically travel directly to the port, check our luggage in and head straight into the terminal, but thought the pre-cruise stay would be a nice way to start our vacation.  Wondering how the luggage transfer works at the hotel and whether it is easier to simply call an Uber, head to the terminal and forego the transfers?  Thanks for your help.

  4. We are booked in a suite on our upcoming Hawaii cruise.  As we will be away for a total of 20 days with pre and post cruise travelling, wondering how the laundry service is.  Is it safe to send all types of clothing, should it be limited to socks and undergarments?  Would definitely help with the packing if I can count on laundry.  Is it better to just make time to use the self-laundry?

  5. Just back from 10/13 sailing. We were in 8718 mini suite, large balcony. Balcony is great, there were two loungers, two chairs and small table. Had both sun and shade depending on time of day. Bathroom was great, overall we felt cabin was small but comfortable. No noise at all. Long walk down very narrow hallway to get to cabin and/or elevators and stairs.
