  1. I am currently on Enchantment for the 3 night out of Miami. I, too, read all the negative reviews but took them with a grain of salt so to speak. This is our fifth cruise (first out of Miami - others have all been out of Northeast). So far, everything has been amazing. We have enjoyed CHOPS for dinner last night, Windjammer for lunch yesterday and today and heading to dining room tonight for dinner. Selections in the WJ have been fresh, tasty and hasn’t been an issue getting a table. The crew is friendly, courteous and really seem to be happy. Passengers have been pleasant as well. We easily found a couple of chairs by the pool and saw very little chair hogging going on, granted no one was really in the pool because the water is super cold. Hot tubs are rocking though! The vibe on the ship is that everyone is having a good time, lots of activity options to choose from and a party vibe going on. I don’t really see much in the way of things needed repair or broken but am also not actively seeking that out. I will post a complete review when I return home but wanted to share so you can plan to enjoy yourself rather than worry about the negative reviews. I would not hesitate to book another cruise on Enchantment again!

    Hope that is good enough:D

Is this just going to be for Anthem or for other ships as well? Just switched a cruise for next summer from Anthem to Grandeur as it got me 4 extra nights at the same price. Would still love some extra money though!

  3. Hello all,

My husband and I have cruised Carnival and Princess. On both there were self-service stations with Tea, coffee and tap water. I always bring a plastic refillable bottle and refile water during meals (because I drink alot of water and always have some with me). We will be sailing on RCI in October for the first time. Does Royal Caribbean ships have that option?

On Liberty last week they had dispensers with ice water that you could fill up bottles your have or available cups for use too. I am pretty sure they will fill them as well at meals and the bars.

  4. Can you bring water on the ship from a port of call? Not a lot of water but a few bottles or a one gallon jug.

I have never tried but have carried on small bottles of ginger ale. I know some people have brought on or checked with their bags entire cases of water. You are not supposed to be able to though.

  5. First time cruiser here. I am on the fence on purchasing the water package. Someone wrote that there is enough water during meals, another said they bought water at port. Water would be my drink of choice, but I'm not sure if I need the additional package.

    Thoughts?

I almost exclusively drink water and while water is readily available in cups, I do like having ready access to bottles. You can always carry a refillable bottle if you like having one. Or, you can also purchase bottles as you need them if you want to

  6. If you have ordered the water package recently, what size Evian bottles did you get. We just got off Liberty 7/2 sailing on Saturday and had ordered a 24 bottle package. We received the smaller 500ml bottles but on Explorer last year we received the 1 liter bottles for approximately the same price. I did not think to question it while onboard because it was printed on the drink package letter left in our stateroom the first day for the 500ml bottles and thought the price was probably due to increase in pricing but now think I should have questioned it since I read on the RC site that they were the 1 liter. Sent an email to guest relations but what do you think the chance is they do anything?

  7. We loved Bermuda and visited both this year and last as part of our cruise. Since we only had a single day each time, last year we took a bus to Horseshoe Beach which was beautiful, it was a bit crowded, the pink sand looks pink when it's wet. There's were chairs and umbrellas available for rent as well as a food concession stand -burgers, hot dogs, fries, etc but if I remember it was a bit pricey. This year we did a little wandering around the dockyard in the morning and then the Devil's Isle Catamaran snorkel excursion through the cruise line. It was a fantastic excursion and highly recommend it! Enjoy your cruises. We booked our next one while on board and as of now are heading to Alaska on Explorer!

  8. Just an update to the chair hogs...this morning we were up on the pool deck at 8:30 or so, and were able to find a couple of chairs in the shade. That's not to say it was easy to do but we did it. We were totally prepared to sit in some of those towel saved chairs if we had to. We also learned that the pool attendants go around to rows of chairs with only towels and fold those towels a certain way into the back of the chair and start their timer. If no one shows up after 30 minutes, they remove the towels and free up the chairs., but it was different attendants today than yesterday so I am not sure they are all enforcing the rules because of our experience yesterday.

  9. I guess I've pretty much resigned myself to accepting that a chair in the sun is going to be hard to find.. Either anywhere near the pool or upper decks,or the solarium on sea days.. We will be on in June 16, from Galveston..

Based on pictures theres nothing to be found even on upper decks.

I did find a glimmber of hope though.. It looks there are lots of chairs down by the flow rider..Does this area get a lot of use ...the chairs that is. I would be happy with that area.. with an occasional sprint to cool off..

Not sure what pictures you saw as there were lots of chairs on the upper deck around the entire pool area and as long as you don't mind sitting in the sun and/or don't mind cigarette smoke, then you should be ok. We could more easily find chairs on Deck 12 until about 10am or so. If cigarette smoke doesn't bother you, the entire port side of the pool area is a smoking section. As I have bad asthma, I could not sit there.

We did walk down to the flow rider but don't recall seeing lounge chairs there, just a stadium seating type area around it.

  10. I just need one chair, will this make it a tad bit easier to find something in a fun location to people watch and relax?

Finding one in the sun would probably be easier than finding two in the shade, which we had been seeking on this day. Had we not cared about the shade, we would have easily found two chairs. When we didn't care, we did end up,on Deck 12 just above the pool area which was fine as we were able to see everything going on yet enjoy the ocean breeze.

  11. If they're not back in ten minutes, I'll move their stuff off the chair and occupy it myself. What are they going to do about it?

I did consider it since there were only towels and no personal property there but just did not want the confrontation when they did finally show up. And considering the pool attendants were supporting the "they were here just a few moments ago" rather than backing us on it, I gave up.

  12. One big tip, if you want any chance at all of getting a deck chair poolside, you need to be there at the crack of dawn. By 9:30, the chair hogs are out in full force with every single one of them swearing that "he just went to get a cup of coffee" yet there are 8 chairs all with towels on them. Pool attendants won't do a thing about it. Very frustrating for those of us who follow the rules and don't save chairs

  13. That's for the Carnival cards, Royal Caribbean ones have a different policy on the verizon wireless rewards site as far as I can see, maybe there are different versions but what I see are the $100 travel certificates which right now allow me to add to my cart but say sold out once there. When and if you do get them, just want to make sure someone doesn't spend a lot of money on them before confirming whether they can be used how you intend to use them.

Copy / paste from the Verizon rewards website :

Get ready for a good time on Carnival Cruise Lines! Carnival eGift Cards can be used for almost anything: towards the purchase of a Carnival cruise,activities/shore excursions, and redeemed onboard toward the Sail & Sign account for gifts, drinks, and fun.

  14. I was looking at the fine print, says they can only be used for new cruise bookings and cannot be applied for shipboard credit, excursions or gratuities. Didn't someone on this thread say they used them for their onboard account? Has Verizon changed their policy?

  15. Mike, I stumbled across your cruise review last evening while doing some research on what we should do as our second cruise. I read from the first post to the last night -took me about 3 hours!

Our first (my husband, two sons 10 & 14 and I) were on the RCCL Explorer out of NJ the week of Feb 18 and LOVED it. We are hooked. We live in NJ and it was definitely easy without the plane ride. I hate to fly so am looking for other cruises nearby. BTW, my 14 yo is a Mitchell too but two L's in his name!

I had found the Carnival Pride and your photos and descriptions definitely make it easy to see what it could be like cruising out of Baltimore on her. We are looking at the first week of November in 2012. Thanks for sharing your experience and all the beautiful photos.

Good luck to Tracy and the rest of the family while she is away.

    Thanks again!

    Randi
