  1. We have made that 11.15 am flight to Dublin several times, with no problems.

Here is a post I made on the last one:

Our ship (HAL Koningsdam) docked at 7am and we had Expedited Disembarkation, so we were called at 7.15, and sitting in the car provided by Stefano's RomeCabs by 7.45.

We were at FCO terminal 3 by 9am. It was a Sunday morning (May holiday sunday) and there was very little traffic.

We had time to do some shopping for cosmetics for DW, buy a few 'Italian scooter posters' and have a light breakfast between arriving at the terminal and going to the gate.

Provided that the ship is docking at around 7am and you book a private transfer (Stefano's Rome Cabs is well recommended) for a 7.45 pick up at the dock, you should have no problems. You will need to take your own luggage as there are no porters around.

    Thank you for your reply.

Our ship is set to dock at 6:30am on a Saturday. I hope we'll have the same experience as you.

  2. We are looking to book a cruise that ends in Rome in either June or July 2018. Post cruise we are off to Ireland for one week. Looks like there are only two nonstop flights from FCO to Dublin. Both times are not ideal - which to choose? We will be 7 people (my two parents, my sister, my husband, 2 year old daughter any myself) and getting off the Celebrity Constellation.

Option 1) 11:15am from FCO - I don't know if we'll be able to make this flight? Is it too early even if we do the earliest possible disembarkation and hire a private transfer?

Option 2) 8:35pm from FCO - we would definitely be able to make this flight. However that does give us a lot of time to kill in Rome. Would a private tour be best? Would the tour be able to pick us up at port, tour Rome and then drop us off at FCO?

IF we could make the 11:15 flight, we'd prefer it, as it gets us to Dublin at a reasonable hour and not at almost 11pm. We do have a 2 hour drive after the flight to get to my husband's hometown.

  3. Constellation Europe 2018- I would consider booking as soon as you find a price that can be stomached.

We experienced serious sticker shock when looking at European cruises for 2017 and 2018.

After checking prices for months we decided to forgo Europe completely for 2017 and booked the Equinox (Carribean), however, while on that sailing we bit the bullet and booked the July 7th/2018 Adriatic sailing on Connie.

Even at that time (April 2017), there were very few OV cabins available.

    And now?

Believe it or not, despite the very high price tag for a seven (7) day cruise there are very few rooms left to be had, most categories are booking guaranty rooms only.

Book now... As others have mentioned If the price drops you can always apply for the price reduction, if you decide later on the price is just too high, you can always cancel before final payment.

    Good luck!

Thanks for your response. Your sailing is actually the one that I have my eye on. I'm surprised that you say there are few rooms left. I was checking today and I can see quite a few Interior (95) and OV (71) cabins available. Overall I think there is 22% cabins still available. I'm curious to know where you are getting your information. My information is based on the celebrity uk website that shows all cabins available. The celebrity US website does show minimal cabins available but I wonder if that's just a glitch.

  4. I'm looking into a Eastern Mediterranean cruise for next June or July on Connie. This will be a multi-generation cruise celebrating two milestone birthdays. Since its a port intensive itinerary we would likely be booking interior or ocean view cabins, with 3 people per cabin.

I have been looking at prices and they seem rather high. I've also been visiting a cruise price website that recommends I wait as the prices are likely to come down.

My question is: is there any advantage to booking this early? There seems to be many interior and OV cabins still available. There are no special promotions that I see would be applicable to us right now, other than Go Big (if we book OV). I guess one risk to not booking now is that Go Big could disappear in the future.

    Any comments would be appreciated!

  5. In terms of what cruise line we are considering. DH and I really like Celebrity. And are considering doing a Celebrity cruise as we like the itinerary the best and know what to expect from Celebrity. I know the kids clubs is not the best. I'm also considering Royal Caribbean as I've heard it is geared more towards multi-generation families.

  6. We are considering a eastern Mediterranean cruise with our 2.5yo for next summer. Leaving from Venice, ports include Dubrovnik, Corfu, Santorini and Naples. We will be travelling with my parents and sister, so we'll have some help. This will be the first cruise for parents and sister so I think they will be taking full advantage of each port. Since DH and I have been to most ports I think that we can choose to either stay on the ship, do a beach day or do short extrusions in port.

I'm starting to think that maybe this is a crazy idea. I know how tiring port intensive cruises can be and I know how tiring it can be to care for a rambunctious toddler. Is putting the two together a recipe for disaster? Has anyone done a Mediterranean cruise with a toddler? How did it go? Did you regret it? Any tips?

  7. Just saw an ad in Ottawa's paper for the upcoming season. Packages are for either Silhouette or Equinox this season and are in February and March. I seem to recall in previous years they began in January. Plus in the Ottawa paper it only notes Ontario departures (Toronto, Hamilton, London, and Ottawa) so not sure if the packages are available from other cities.

Would you be able to post a pic of the ad?

I'd be very interested in this package for next year.

    Thanks!!

  8. We just came from bermuda on the Summit on June 4th.

We carried off our luggage and were at the airport by 930 am. The Summit was a little late in docking so I think we were cleared to come off the ship at around 830 am.

We took a shuttle van from the port to the airport for $20 per person. I think they said a regular taxi was about $65.

Once you get out of the port terminal building turn right and head across the street to the shuttle area. Terminal staff were very helpful in directing us so don't hesitate to ask them if you need directions.

  9. We recently sailed on the Summit and really enjoyed Joe and Liv's performances. Our cruise was the last cruise they were going to be performing on. I was reading reviews of the Summit as someone mentioned that they would be going on tour. Does anyone have any information on this? My husband is Irish and he really enjoyed hearing songs from when he used to live on Ireland, so it'd be great to see Joe and Liv again.

  10. I'm looking to book a few spa services on our upcoming cruise to Bermuda.

I was just wondering if they ever offer discounts on spa services during the cruise (similar to the discounts offered for specialty dining).

Should I hold off on booking anything until we're on the ship or book in advance?

  11. What time us your return flight on 6/4? Are you flying home from EWR?

No truly complimentary port shuttles and limited hotels that offer any kind of port shuttle service. Airport hotels all offer free hotel shuttle. Port shuttle costs would be $35-$40/pp round trip on top of any hotel cost. Taxi/car service to port is running $55-70 each way.

Getting into NYC will take 1+ hours each way and cost $22-26/pp round trip.

The best deal out there is a sleep/cruise at the Ramada Plaza through trinityreservations.com (prepay but cancellable up to 1 day ahead) for a room and round trip port transportation for $175 tax included.

    Thanks for this!

Our flight on the 4th is at 1pm. I'm hoping to disembark early. We are flying back to Toronto, so we have to be there by 10am. Is the best way to get to Newark from port in a taxi?

  12. Hello,

DH and I are on the May 28 cruise to Bermuda from Cape liberty. We are arriving to Newark on the 27 in the early morning. I'm looking for a hotel for that night close to Newark airport. We'd like to be able to drop off our luggage the morning we arrive and then head into NYC for the day. Ideally we'd like a hotel that had a shuttle to port (either complimentary or for a reasonable price).

    Our budget is about $200.

    Does anyone have any recommendations??

    Thanks!!

  13. My husband and I had the Classic package on the Silhouette in August 2014. We found that there were only a few times that we ordered something that wasn't included in the package (once i wanted Gatorade and another time i wanted a Singapore Sling - both not included). For the most part anything we wanted was included in the package. We enjoyed pina coladas, margueritas, beer, rum and cokes, wine at dinner, bottle water, mint lemonade and lattes.

Overall I do not think that we drank enough to make the package worth it. In the end we did pay for "peace of mind". We know that if we didn't get the package we would have been tallying up all the drinks we ordered rather than just enjoying the unlimited amount we knew we were entitled to. Hope that makes sense.
