  1. Well I for one am glad there is Indian food on our cruise. I am looking forward to having it. I love curry have some in my pantry. Its always better if someone else cooks though ;)

I love to try new and ethnic foods, something ive never had before YUM!!!! its always a great experience

I know this is an indian thread but on a side note I tried fried tofu at a tiwanese resteraunt recently with a peanut dipping sauce yummy!!!!

    We feel the same way!

Just returned from our Alaskan Cruise on NCL's Pearl. Enjoyed trying the Indian dishes on the buffet and took the advice of other CC members and carted our plate over to the Italian rest. during lunch hours. To be honest, nothing but the Indian food stood out as being great on the buffet to us. But then, we are not burger pizza people. Interesting how the salad section of the buffet was being hit heavy during all meal times, as was the fresh fruit section (which we hit heavy ourselves). However, the dessert section, including the icecream, seemed a bit sub-par. You would hear many people asking, "what is that" at the 2-inch cut desserts on display. Never saw chocolate cake on the buffet - looked many times for it. Though we could get it through room-service, our one attempt at that went so badly we abandoned any hope of trying again.

  2. KW - thank you so much for your review. I'm only up to page 2 but subscribed so that I can finish it later. You gave me the gift of laughter with my morning coffee. Thank you! After taking this cruise, would you recommend it for 2012? Or would you recommend a different line/ship and if so - which? I'm on a fact finding mission for Sept. 2012. Yes, that's my Sherlock Holmes hat - what about it?

    "Whale"!!!

I hope the train slowed down <laughing>.

In a water arobic's class one time a man was standing against the wall we were looking at for instructions and he KNEW he had a hole in his swim trunks in an inappropriate place. One of the older gals next to me said loudly, "put that thing away, no one wants to see that little old thing". I about lost it.;)

  4. On one or our cruises we had come back from port very early and were sitting on our balcony reading. The guy next door comes out and I guess he thought everyone else was still in port because he proceeds to pass gas.....

The first time I just looked at my husband and said nothing. The second time I was trying to laugh without making any noise. But the third time, which was his biggest one yet, I just burst out laughing and said "OMG"!!!!......

He ran back inside his cabin and I don't think he ever used the balcony again.

<laughing> I'm suprised he didn't just laugh along with you!

Where are all the new posts?????

  5. Hi everyone :) I am relatively new to CC and found this site today while surfing the forums. I have not been on a cruise quite yet ...first cruise is booked July 24th..a birthday gift from my wonderful DH. I am so excited! Also a little nervous to say the least. If anyone has formal wear in 3x-4x I would be interested and very appreciative.. :)

I know it can sometimes be difficult to find those sizes in formal wear. I just returned from our local mall and Dillard's is having a very good sale right now. There were racks of formal wear in all sizes and they do have a Women's section.

FYI for everyone here - found cruise casual clothing but they had tons of formals if you need to dress up for your cruise. Ours will be more informal with NCL freestyle. No need for formals on this one. Good luck!

  6. Definitely not true.

The speed with which CC fraud is perpetrated has led to equally fast responses by CC companies.

They do not make any attempt to review your purchase history before they freeze your account if they suspect that some cc activity is fraudulent. They would rather inconvenience you than lose money.

The bigger issue is that some CC companies have set their sensitivity levels way too high and they are freezing activity for what you and I consider a regular recurring transaction.

The sneaky little boogers actually booked amtrack tickets for Washington State with my card - I caught it - cc wasn't even aware because I had booked a flight to Seattle using that card. Always check your cc activity before any nasty suprises appear on your bills. I've caught three charges in one year!

  7. This thread gave me a smile and I subscribed to it.

Get well wishes to everyone who had surgery (I know there are at least two of you here recovering).

Recently donated some dresses so at this point I do not have anything to offer. We'll be doing the free-style thing in August so there isn't a need for formal wear but I love looking at the photos.

    Have a great weekend!

    Ann

  8. I've enjoyed reading everyone's lists and have been writing down things I'll need in October. One thing I didn't see mentioned is an extension cord. If you sleep with a CPap as I do you might need it. On our last cruise, the outlets were on the opposite wall from the bed. I plugged the extension cord into our power strip for the night and unplugged it during the day.

Crap! I have to write this all down???? Now I'll have to start ALL over!:p

  9. Such a shame that this thread stopped attracting contributors...it was my very favourite thread and I really miss the stories! Come on...anyone else out there have some funny stories from their previous cruises...I need my daily fix!

This thread has become one of my online guilty pleasures :D.

I look forward to posting after our August cruise. The people of Walmart site is also hilarious.

  10. This wasn't on a cruise, but years ago we were on a vacation on Sanibel Island in Florida, staying in a beachfront cottage at a resort. The cottage next to us had two German couples (appeared to be 60's and 40's) and a young man in his early 20's. I was sitting on the beach one morning when the five Germans came down to the water in their white terry cloth bathrobes. They proceded to drop the robes and enter the water. No swimsuits, of course. Yards and yards of pale Teutonic flesh quivering in the Florida sun. Glad I was wearing sunglasses.....I could have been blinded. Sanibel Island is a very conservative family-oriented resort town. No clothing-optional beaches to be found. The manager of the resort came dashing out of the office yelling "NO NO NO!!!" The Germans were quite puzzled but put their robes back on and went back to their cottage.

We visit Sanibel every year and I've read, but never visited, a more "relaxed" beach is available somewhere on the island.
