  1. Hi!  We are arriving in London on Tuesday May 12th our cruise leaves  on May 15th out of Southampton .  Just wondering if it would be better to spend all 3 nights in London and take the train from Waterloo on Friday morning or if it would be better to take a late train on the 14th to Southampton and spend the night there?  My daughter has never been to London so she is looking forward to seeing as much as she can.  Hotel suggestions would be welcome.

    Thanks. Renee

  2. Stockholm Sweden...We are docking in Frihamnen on the 23rd disembark is scheduled for morning of the 24th. We can self carry off and be on the first bus, is this too tight of time frame? Has anyone taken a flight that early and used the ships transfers? We can Disembark on the 23rd and get an airport hotel but if it’s doable we would rather stay onboard? Would love to hear from anyone who self carried and how early you arrived at the airport. Suggestions or opinions please!!! Thank you

  3. We are on a 10 night ultimate Scandinavia-Russia cruise in June. The last 2 days we are docked in Stockholm. I have been reading that you shouldn’t have a flight earlier than 1pm. Our flight is at 11:05, since it might be close we wondered if we could just get off the first day and spend the last night in a hotel near the airport to assure we don’t miss our flight. Has anyone done this? Is customs available? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. What is the earliest flight anyone has taken out of Stockholm? We booked our air through air2sea and bought ship transfers but we really don’t want to get to the airport and miss our flight.

  4. Personally I would call beforehand to verify the soda package. I would also have them email you what is included with your room and take a hard copy. Last cruise they didn’t have my OBC but I had my reservation that stated an OBC,spa treatment, and one specialty dining that travel agent had gifted. They had none of those down for our room had to stand in line a little while at guest services but it was handled quickly because I had the print out and they simply made a phone call to verify.

  5. I know for us it was important for them to go to the first night To meet the workers and get a feeling for how it worked. Then we had no problems the rest of the week. I have a friend who took her four kids and didn’t make the older ones go to the informal get together the first night and they never participated all week. They never cruised again. You know you child better than anyone, mine needed to ease into the idea and they loved cruising. Sometimes we would have to make them spend time with us!

  6. I would encourage your 14 year old to go the first night to the meet and greet...my daughter always made friends that first night even though there was no scheduled activity per say. Seems like if that age doesn’t connect soon they wander around feeling unincluded. Royals kids and teen programs were the main reason we have stayed loyal to Royal.

  7. Our experience with our 3 kids was the importance of going to the introduction session the FIRST night of the cruise. They meet others and from then on they don’t feel like a new comer when they choose to go. I have stressed this to friends going on cruises with their kids first time. It always seems that those that Don’t go the first night their kids and teens never like the programs. Ours loved it at all ages to the extent we would have to make them spend more time with us!

  8. There are ATM machines everywhere in Europe. Don't use the one on the ship as very expensive. If your tour guide you need an ATM, they will take you to one. Or before you board your ship you can visit an ATM.

I would say to use an ATM at a bank to make sure are getting the best deal.

This is what we have done on three different occasions. The one thing I did do after my first Europe trip is open an account at Charles Schwab that I just put money into for my trip. Their debit card will refund you for All ATM charges just realize that they reimburse you at the end of the month so be sure to have extra money in the account for the fees but they will be refunded. It has worked great for us!
