  1. Can anyone give me a recent update on Oceana, regarding the cabins, decor ,restaurants etc as some seem to say its looking a bit tired and tatty? Any information gratefully received before we consider booking thanks

  2. Hi I am considering booking a cruise to see Norway and the Northern lights and Arctic Circle on board a Hurtigruten ship. I have cruised a lot on P&O and I just wanted to find out what their ships were like. I see they look much more basic but what about dining room, cabins, deck areas, and facilities? I would most appreciate any comments from anyone who has cruised with Hurtigruten in the past.I am interested in travelling around Feb 2018 so as to still get chance of seeing the Aurora but also the snow too! Thanks

  3. Is it me or does it look like its listing to the left at the back?

also the two big cranes look attached maybe holding her up.

looks like my Sunday cruise may be delayed.

    Mark

Hi Mark yes I agree and I would be surprised if she's ready to depart tomorrow afternoon to the Canaries!?

  4. I can't get over how clear the webcam is! Looking at it with interest as we sail on her to the fjords in August. Have just come off Oriana and hoping for a slightly more modern ship!

something has been done to the funnel this morning!

  5. Thanks for all your comments everyone, still upset about losing some pictures but did have a back up but cant replace the ones earlier in the cruise. Yes there's always going to be one to spoil it for others, but P & O staff will never go over and above their call of duty , so it has put me off them now. Also there were many morons on that cruise and there were also staff changes due 2 days later .Makes me think............

  6. Your title suggests you want to compare the two cruise lines, but your actual question is just referring to the size of ship. As regards the cruise line, I would say that Azamara is definitely a class above P&O.

Thank you aquilega, actually I did wonder about the class, and also size which I can see is clearly smaller .Havent been on Adonia as someone mentioned but would definitely like to try a smaller ship, and would also like to be able to get a suitable sunlounger when I want one! Azura is 3600 so is huge. Also their quality is deteriorating as I think they flog off cheap cruises nearer the time and then you get the quality going down also.Maybe should change my name on here to "snob cruiser"!!?

  7. I recently went to the Caribbean on board Azura, and during our second week , I was unfortunate enough to accidentally leave my camera at Breakers Bar at midnight when there were very few people around apart from one occupied table and 2 bar staff. At 7am next morning I went back when I realised it had gone, and it was no where to be found and it was not handed in as lost property until we left the ship so i can only deduce that it was stolen. So a word of advice , dont be as trusting as i was and make sure you keep everything on you at all times.By the way, P&O couldn't have cared less either , a word of sympathy wouldnt have gone amiss as i was very upset.:(

  8. Hi

We are going transatlantic on Azura on 31st Oct and I need to find out more about the Retreat. I am not very much in to spa treatments etc but do want somewhere nice to sunbathe and I dont mind paying extra but do not want all the massages etc. We are going in a Suite so I dont know if the Butler can help once on board. It looks like you have to book before embarkation.Any information on this would be helpful thank you.

  9. Lpganpaulsmom- First, you will LOVE the Allure! Great first cruise to take because you will NOT be bored on her.. a few tips for the Allure: Don't miss the water diving show in the Aqua Park at night ( deck 5/6) , don't miss the ice-skating show in Studio B ( deck 3)..don't miss walking in Central Park AT NIGHT and look up to the stars if it's a clear night, and there should be a classical trio playing music there..also in Central Park, don't miss having a roast beef sandwich in the Park Cafe- very yummy! The musical is Chicago, and my wife said it was good, BUT very cold in there, so wear a jacket/sweater as a precaution...70's Retro night on the Royal Promenade is lots of fun, and for live music, check out the British Pub ( deck 5), Dazzles ( decks 8 & 9), Boleros on deck 5 ( latin music, very hot place!), and the always cool Viking Crown Lounge on deck 17..any more questions about the ship, fire away...

Now for what to do on your ports of call..Nassau is tough because you are only there 5-6 hours...I would walk around Nassau market, then maybe head for one of the local beaches, which you can find on the ports of call page ( on the second page "message board forums", click "Bahamas", and search for some things to do, OR put a post)

St. Maarten is easy- do either a tour ( I recommend Bernard's Tours) and go to Orient Beach & Maho Beach, where you can see planes take off & land RIGHT above you- it is amazing to see this...also, there is GREAT shopping in Philipsburg..St.Thomas also has great shopping, and Meagan's Beach is popular, along with Sapphire Beach ( a bit further away)..also Blackbeard's Castle is cool ( kids will like)..also, Paradise Point is a mountain top that you take a cable car to ( very safe), and get AMAZING views of the town harbor & all the cruise ships docked.. a great view...you can also take the ferry in St. Thomas to St. John's- that is beautiful, and go to Trunk Bay, a beach. There are lots of snorkelers there, but it's just a beach that's very serene & beautiful- not much else to do in St. John's unless you take a tour of the forest & island..Meagan's is a safe bet because, although touristy, it has all the water sports, restrooms, concessions, and its a nice beach & not far from the port..I would definitely check out the Ports Of Call forum and click on all three ports and see what people are saying... we have been to all 3 ports 7-8 times over our 29 cruises, so I know them well....any more questions, comments, give a shout.. a word of caution on Orient Beach in St. Maarten: There is a nude beach, BUT it is all the way on the right when you walk in the main entrance, about 300-400 yards down ( quite a ways)..it's mostly older people,FYI..you may see a few topless bathers there on the regular beach, maybe yes, maybe none..just an FYI..never had rough seas down there,BTW..Good Luck, and have a great cruise!!
