  1. Yikes employed docs are probably not going to be allowed to use their common sense and sign that. My husband is a gynecologist and they won’t let us travel by car to west va to work on his dads farm even though there are no covid 19 cases there. They told us if we travel anyway automatic 14 day quarantine without pay.

  2. Hello all!

I  have always wanted to do a British Isles cruise but most of them include Iceland. Celebrity is offering one itinerary next May with all of the ports I would like to visit.

We haven't cruised often but we cruised celebrity two years ago ( Carribean) and I booked it though American Airlines when they had some good perks offered. So, would you book sooner without really many perks or wait for offers or for the price to come down? Would you book through  a travel agent or through just an online booking engine? We have never traveled to Europe so I'm unsure about what the best way to go is.

Thank you in advance for your advice.

    Best, Mary

  3. I’ve been wanting to book a British Isles cruise but most of the itineraries include Iceland, except for one 10 night next May. Since it is a one cruise offering, would you book it without any special offers, would you wait and watch the price for a while? Would you use a travel agent? We have never traveled to Europe. We have previously booked celebrity once with American Airlines cruises.

    Thank you for your advice,

    mary

  4. If we have OBC to spend, we will book a restaurant. On our last cruise, we did a reduced price for Tuscan and it was really great. We like that Blu is small, not as crowded and you get to know the serving staff better. Do not pay full price for any restaurant. On our first day of the cruise, we go to the restaurant and find out when they have a night that they will give us a reduced price, and then we book.

Yes they had specialty restaurants “on special “ each night

  5. I am thinking of booking a celebrity cruise to Alaska, and although I have sailed celebrity once with a deluxe balcony, I wondered if you could advise me on room types.

Just two adults, should I save my money and do the deluxe balcony again or is it worth it to spend more on a room?

    Thanks so much!

    Mary

  6. I will bring up a very delicate issue which is that there is more than one cruise line in the Med :). Those folks that limit themselves to 1 or 2 cruise lines really do limit both their itinerary and pricing options. We like X (Elite Plus) but have also cruised on 13 other cruise lines (with a 14th booked) and have enjoyed every cruise. Is Celebrity better than their competition? Overall the quick answer is NO. And keep in mind that most Med cruises are port intensive which means that you spend less time on the ship. Even cruise ship night life seems to wane on Med cruises because passengers run themselves ragged in the ports and are often exhausted in the evening. While Caribbean cruises can often take on a late night party atmosphere, in the Med many of the party crowd are sound asleep :).

Hank, could you tell me which line you used if any for British isles? Thanks! Mary

  7. We cruised celebrity last summer , western Caribbean and were very happy. We had the free room service breakfast everyday. I book when they offer enough perks. We got free alcohol free WiFi prepaid gratuities and 400 onboard credit for the 8 day cruise.

I think you will really like it, the food was so good in the mdr that we never ate at any of the premium restaurants. We’ve also been on Disney, total five stars, and Rc.

  8. I contacted Smiths for our LHR —> London hotel transfer in June, and I found their price for that service to be considerably higher than others. Here’s what Smiths quoted me:

“Hi, the cost would be £90 plus £8 parking and £11.50 congestion charge. Please let me know if you wish to make a booking.”

    [emoji15][emoji15][emoji15][emoji15][emoji15]

I ended up booking with Blackberry cars for a total of £44 — less than half of Smith’s, for the same size car (Estate Vehicle). Smith’s has a great reputation, but there are other good companies and I couldn’t justify paying more than double.

We’re using Woodford Cars/Cruise Connections for London to the port (with 2 sightseeing stops) and the port to LHR. Those trips will have 3 couples in a larger vehicle for £310 on the way to Southampton and £160 from the port to the airport.

  9. We didn’t start family cruising until our kids were older. The kids club could be helpful for restless little ones. Disney is expensive but they do offer specials mostly on the week long cruises. The way they do things would really make it fun for you with a 4 year old.We enjoyed disney it’s first class but our kids were all college or older. We have a kid who works for Disney and he had a discount on the 3-4 day cruises so we tried it. I think we were the only parents with all adult kids on the boat [emoji6]

  10. Well, after talking with celebrity and with family we decided to do the "cancel for any reason" and receive the 75% credit towards future cruise rather than sailing without the rest of our fam. According to celeb, they will reimburse us for all taxes, etc immediately and we will submit claim to cruise care for the future credit.

The reason for me initially coming to the board with questions yesterday was because when I called Cruise care insurance the information was very confusing as the customer service reps were not very helpful in answering questions--they basically read word for word the page which I had already read and sent me back and forth b/t celeb cust serv and cruise care cust service. One would say that's a ? for celeb and then celeb would say that's a ? for cruise care, etc. very frustrating.

The problem was I had questions regarding their interpretation of the policy/restrictions regarding pre-existing injuries- the rep for cruise care just said she didn't know and I'd just have to wait and see......?? Well, wait and see isn't an option given the price we paid for all 5 of us--if we were going to have to eat the whole amount obviously the 3 of us would have continued on with the cruise. She never mentioned the cancel anytime option. Later in the day, I called back to cruise care and luckily got a very informative rep (Jenna) that was able to give me specific info regarding how they determine pre-existing conditions, etc. If I would have gotten her the first time it would have been much less stressful.

Regardless, even though my brother-in-law received new information not previously known, due to the fact that he had been seeing dr.'s on/off for an injury the issue would not have been covered. He was previously cleared to travel but after getting a new more in-depth scan he was advised not to travel. But....he had been seeing dr.'s 60 days prior. It seemed murky--maybe we could have argued but chances are we would not have received re-imbursement. Cancel anytime seemed easier and all things considered is a good deal when cancelling 3 days before sailing.

I don't usually get the insurance b/c I've always thought it was a waste but for whatever reason I did get insurance for all 5 of us and so glad I did. I would recommend getting it especially when booking several months in advance as you just never know what might come up.

Hope this helps anyone in the future dealing with a similar issue. We are looking at booking another Caribbean cruise in Jan or Feb. I briefly looked at itineraries/ships---saw that both the silouhette, summit and maybe equinox has itineraries to carib in those months--any opinion on which ship is better. Never sailed with celebrity--we were booked on equinox.

Thanks again for the responses/info! jc

  11. We are sailing out on Sunday, bu did not select the unlimited internet package. Do they have a "by the minute price" or other, smaller, packages available for sale on board? I could not justify spending $200+ for a package. We are sailing out on Sunday, which may be an adventure cruise with the impending storms....kinda wonder where they'll take us???

Thanks so much for your interesting and informative posts.:)

Do not know but have heard that the wifi is very slow/ hit it miss when u want to use it, prob could find free in ports. We are on the 20 as well, I'm good with whatever they decide as far as itinerary, I've never sailed in very rough seas before[emoji13]
