  1. We want a one way Panama cruise in October or November for around 14 days. The November 19th cruise from LA to Miami works on the Norwegian Bliss or the October 22nd Ruby Princess from San Fran to Ft lauderdale works too and both ships look nice but they go through the new Canal. The RC Serenade of the seas (either direction of that sailing in November 2023 works) and it goes through the old canal, but the ship is quite a bit older and I’m wondering how it would be for the many sea days etc. The itineraries are similar although the Ruby Princess visits San Juan del Sur Nicaragua and Puntarenas Costa Rica and the Bliss visits Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala.

    Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

  2. We’ll be in Hilo late September and there is a Land of Frozen Fire tour through celebrity but I can’t find any reviews of it. I like seeing excursion reviews from real people like on a carnival cruise.
    😊 THANKS

I know many will say rent a car instead but that’s not an option for us so I’m looking at this or other  options.

  3. We just got back from a carnival cruise on Saturday with 5/6 of us having had covid fewer than 90 days ago. We had to have a positive pcr test and a doctor’s note. If you didn’t get a pcr test (we lucked in to getting them right after Christmas before they weren’t allowed for general population in Ontario)

PCR tests MAY a show covid up to 90+ days but a rapid antigen test shouldn’t show positive after 10-15 days.
You could get a rapid antigen test at shoppers and just show that at the ship. They won’t really even care if you tested positive on a rapid test 80 days earlier if you didn’t take a valid PCR test. They just want you to be negative getting onboard and  that you can say you haven’t had covid in the last 10 days.

We purchased a GoPro camera onboard when we had excessive onboard credit. You can also purchase accessories. Find a great camera and spend some "free" money on it!

Can you tell me the US cost of a gopro onboard, please?  We have a credit to use and I was contemplating buying a gopro in Canada before leaving for our March cruise. Thanks.

  5. Hi,

Has anyone had good luck getting insurance in Canada to cruise since some travel restrictions are being lifted for March onwards.

A CAA representative at the store today told me that cruises are still level 4 in risk but that we could get emergency Medical for our March break cruise but no trip interruption or covid coverage if anyone in our group happens to test positive on the rapid test needed to fly back to Canada from Florida.   I realize we can just quarantine if need be at our own expense after the cruise if we can’t fly home.

Thanks for any help you might be able to share.

  6. We are flying in around 10 pm on a Friday night in March 2019 for a Saturday Carnival Breeze cruise. Since we're too late for the airport shuttles to the Cocoa Beach hotels, I'm thinking that the Sleep/Cruise package might be better as it includes a hotel near the Orlando airport and then return transportation to Port Canaveral/airport.

My main concern with the transportation to the Port is that the pick up is 10:15 am, but it's a big bus, so a shared shuttle, meaning we could be picking up people all over the place including the airport. May be faster to do our own shuttle or UBER from the hotel. We'll be 4 adults with 4 big suitcases though!!

It's convenient as we DON'T want to rent a car.

    Any help is appreciated.

  7. We have a credit for a specialty dining experience on the Coral Princess in Alaska in July.

Does anyone have a favourite of the 2 restaurants? We like both surf and turf and Italian.

A couple of review said they wish they'd stuck to the main dining room every night, so maybe we won't try one if that's the case.

Any help is appreciated! This is our first Princess cruise and first time in Alaska, so we're excited!!

    Cheers & thanks

  8. I've decided to pray for decent weather in Juneau so that we can do a "bucket list" helicopter flight to a glacier and dogsledding.

Both Temsco and Coastal have availability in July when we'll be there for the day. Temsco lands on the Mendenhall Glacier and Coastal lands on the Herbert glacier. I would pick based on the dogsledding experience as great views are expected on both.

Mendenhall Glacier seems to be the "famous one" but I'm wondering if you see any more of it if you fly Temsco as both helicopter operations must land in spots where the dogsledding is set up, not an area of a glacier with giant crevices etc.

Any advice is most appreciated! I'm sure both are great! Prices are very similar booking away from a cruise line.

  9. Hi,

I am heading to Whittier mid July for a Princess cruise and want to take Major Marines Surprise Glacier tour prior to boarding the Coral Princess.

I can get from my Anchorage hotel via either the train or the bus. The bus is a bit cheaper, but money isn't the issue if the train is a better way to see the sights on the way to Whittier.

We will have 4 people, so I guess we could also take a taxi or UBER, but was thinking the train or bus with commentary on the way would be the best!!!

Please help out an Alaskan cruise newbie!!!

    Thanks

  10. We'll be getting on the Coral Princess in July and want to do a transfer from Anchorage & do a glacier cruise. We may be a bit jetlagged, so I'm not sure if we should try to get to Whittier for a 5 + hour cruise or take one of the shorter ones that would start a bit later & get us back in time to board the ship around 5 instead of 6 pm.

Please let me know which cruise you'd recommend. They all seem to get good reviews online.

    Thanks!:)

  11. Hi,

We will be in Anchorage the day before our Coral Princess Cruise in July 2018. We would like to do something other than just take a shuttle to the ship, since it doesn't leave until 8:30 pm.

I've seen people suggest either of the Phillip's tours *(26 Glaciers or Glacier Quest), or the Major Marine cruise. I've also read where in the past, coupons from books such as the Northern Lights book have discounts.

Does anyone know of any discounts available for 2018. I didn't see a coupon for either when I did a search on the Northern Lights coupon book *(there was a 2 for 1 for the train to get to Whittier)

Or....if anyone has another idea for a "good way" to get to the Princess Ship from Anchorage other than renting a car, I'd appreciate it!
