We are cruising out of San Juan in May, and would like to buy liquor at the duty free and fill the rum runners before we board the ship. Has anyone tried this method? If so, did it work?
I dont know what port you are going out of, but if you are going on the Victory you can just fill your rumrunners across the street at a restaurant called Aloha, and then just walk across the street to check your luggage just buy a drink so you can use a table, buy your booze and wine down at CVS. That is what we did and we got 4 RR through and 8 bottles of wine, we all brought 1 bottle on when we first boarded then 1 bottle after we went sight seeing. Simple as that!

Hello, we will, my wife and I will be on the Victory, out of San Juan on the 15th of May. Could anyone tell me, what bands will be playing, and who the piano player and comedian are. Thank you, John
This probably wont be that helpful but no one else has responded so...neither the "band" more like duo or guitar soloist were memorable for me so if that is important to you hopefully they are a different duo from when we sailed..think bad karaoke, and i really cannot even remember the guitar soloists voice. The piano player was good, but he was kind of a jerk, but everyone has an off night so who knows, we only went there once the smoke was unbearable. Both comedians we saw were very funny and i would try to make it to atleast one show, we only made it to one we were too tired! One person that did stand out to me was the main woman singer for the shows in the theatre she was awesome. Sorry i dont know anyones names..it seems that a trend with carnival is the entertainment has gone downhill fleet wide..im glad i dont care about entertaintment ill entertain myself lol

Easy enough to split your time in each place! You'll have full port days in each place - spend 2-3 hours shopping in the morning, then 2-3 hours at the beach in the afternoon before reboarding! Perfect blend of shopping and sunshine :D You'll get a chance to see a larger selection of stores and two beautiful beaches. You can do all this by taxi (taxi from ship to shops, then shop to beach, then beach to ship).
I would switch that and do the beach in the morning before the crowds..just my opinion.

Just wondering, i was on the Dream last year and the buffet tiles where always slippery, whatever they were washing it with or maybe it was the tiles they picked i dont know, did they fix this problem or is it still like this. I remember having to walk very carefully, and trying to walk on the carpet as much as i could. i didnt even remember this until i just went on another cruise and was walking normally in the buffet area, and i remembered how it was on the Dream.

I don't go out of my way to take ugly pictures
but this shot of mine comes closest to 'an ugly beach'
but I understand that you live miles away from any beaches at all
and therefore any tropical beach looks good to you :)
.
If this is ugly SIGN ME UP! lol id take that over the Long Island Sound any day of the week!

Taken last week at the cockspur beach club, the storm never made it to shore :) The beach was empty!

We keep the RR's seperate from any other bottle and can shaped items.
its common sence people, i dont know why anyone would put something suspicious in their bag with the rumrunners...your basically asking for your bag to be inspected, and once they open your bag looking for what looked suspicious on the xray and see the rumrunners...its open season on your bag. all i can say is DUH.

Cant wait...
I booked a room that is known for being loud. it is under the buffet area. Has anyone had a room like this and is it sleepable? We live in a apartment so we are used to loud in some terms.
i booked a guarantee balcony and they gave me 8396 basically under the pizza buffet  i guess we will see what happens!

We were on the Victory in October.
Let's just say that things were very lax at the San Juan pier!
can you elaborate?

I can't email you because I don't know your email addy.
i found out some info from reading some old posts anyway, seems like they have gotten stricter about it and the way to go is in your checked luggage along with a good tip, but if its any different my email is marisad22@yahoo.com

which bars would be open in the morning to get a bloody mary or a momosa? just wondering if they are open and what time, and where. im assuming maybe the Lido deck bars might be open.

What is just the Victory and not other piers? I didn't understand what you meant.
I meant that i get the feeling its only the carnival pier that they let you do this.
-
Jhale hi! i just have a question about your red cooler in the pics they let you on with one that big? on the site it says 12 in x 12in. We need one that big for our next cruise, maybe they wont give us a problem?
-
Yes, I think people are afraid to give a straight answer any more, considering the cruise lines read the boards.
Yea i can see that but people write everything else on here! Also i really do think its just the Victory i dont think its other piers..and i guess some people dont know you can do this or dont notice other people doing it, or trust people when they say you can bring it on in your carryon. i dont remember how we found out i think just some guy told us when we checked in our baggage, good thing we trusted him. you can email me and update on what happened if you dont want to post it :)

We sailed Carnival out of San Juan in 2004. We bought at the pier and carried on with no problem. We are sailing Victory on 1/23. Anyone recently off Victory? Can you still carry on liquor from the store at the pier?
Anyone have problems with liquor in checked bags?
can you please let me know what you find out when you come back, no one on here every has an answer for me. thanks!

people who do not use the words please, thank you, excuse me..etc. ugh dont bother to hold the door for people or check if anyone is behind them.
i seriously wonder who raised some people...

So where can I buy liquor ? Is there a store right at or near the port ? Flying in on the 13th feb and cruising Victory.
yes theres a store right in the port upstairs has a good selection of hard alcohol, if you want beer or wine you have to go somewhere outside the port. we didnt try to bring beer on last time but we will try in march. as long as their rules havent changed.
-
i was on the dream last year and they had this indian buffet..oh my god SO good way better than the normal lunch buffet..im going on the victory in march i hope they started serving it there also! i can understand how it can take a certain palate to eat it tho, if you have never had it start out with something easy like chicken tikki masala.
