I think you have made the right decision. Sorry don't know about the Mass languages but would think they are moist likely to be in Spanish rather than Latin. Major shops will not be open on Sundays but some of the smaller, privately owned (and more interesting) shops will be. All bars, restaurants, museums etc. will be open.
Re. Granada:-
I did some research for you about services in Granada and found this link http://www.misas.org/buscar/?location=Granada&date=06-Ago-2017&c_feast=&hh=&name=&address=&postal_code=&province=&language=&ritus=&public=&music=
Apparently there is a Church actually within the Alhambra comlex by the Arab Baths but this doesn't seem to be used for routine Masses only on special occasions.
I'd learned of the church in the Alhambra complex, but nothing more. I'm feeling very comfortable with the decision not to make the excursion there. We will have fun exploring Malaga.
As silly as this seems, do most of the cafes/casual dining spots offer wifi for customers? I'm happy not checking email, but mom and daughter really enjoy checking in with family. The tapas place (Cortijo de Pepe) you've recommended to others seems like a great place. Do you know if they offer internet service while dining?

Thanks - that is super helpful!
I hadn't considered the temperature. It sounds like spending the day in Malaga will be more relaxing and enjoyable. I'll continue research on activities for us to do there. To include a bit of wandering and souvenir shopping. Will most shops be open on Sunday? I saw your previous post about Malaga wines - will be sure to find some to enjoy.
I don't see your link to the mass times at the Cathedral, but I did some internet searching and it appears to be:
Sundays and public holidays: 9, 10, 11:30, 13 and 19 h.
Do you know if any of these are in Latin?

Hi campolady - you've been very generous with all of us - sharing your knowledge of the area and offering suggestions - thank you!
I'm struggling with whether to make the day trip out to Alhambra or simply spend the day in Malaga. I'm traveling with my 17 year old daughter and my mother. All of us are in good health, but my mother gets unhappy with me when we walk long distances (like 8km).
We will be in port on Sunday August 6. We'd like to attend mass that day either at the Cathedral in Malaga or near Alhambra.
Would love your thoughts on this.
Thanks!

Terry,
Wow - that is a lot going on! Congratulations on your first grandchild and so exciting to have your second one on its way!
I'd also love to get to New Zealand/Australia someday - not sure when/where just yet.
All the best,
Eileen

Terry,
MANY, MANY thanks for this spectacular blog -- it enabled me to relive all those terrific memories. It was wonderful meeting you on the cruise and at the restaurant along the canal in Venice. Your pictures truly captured many wonderful moments and highlights of the ports and the ship. I was one of the late-comers to that big buffet and it was great seeing the sumptuous spread before the masses descended!
I'll stay tuned to future updates and hope that a photo album for further review is a project that comes real. :)
Only one question -- when and where are you cruising next?

VMax1700, thanks for the additional confirmation that Alhambra in August is not the best idea. Appreciate your reinforcing the decision not to go. :)
