  1. We are scheduled to visit Puerto Plata, DR on March 6th. I checked the Amber Cove port schedule for that day and it shows 2 carnival ships scheduled to be there. Can I assume we won’t be porting there OR at Taino Bay? If NCL knows this, wouldn’t they let us know beforehand?

  2. So yesterday I went for it and booked a balcony BD guarantee.  Checked NCL.com today and they assigned us a BA balcony midship on deck 9. Looks like a great location! Happy I took the chance. Saved almost $1,000!

Thanks for for everyone’s comments. 15 days to go!

We usually book last minute when we cruise out of NYC but as previous posters have mentioned it depends on the cruise destination & time of year.

With schools now almost out in the NYC area parents will be booking summer vacation cruises so these usually fill up fast.  Usually not a lot of last minute deals.  We cruise  in the September-November time frame & there are a LOT of last minute deals then.  Yes, it's the tail end of hurricane season (and we've run into a few over the years! lol) but that's the chance you take.

Good luck & I hope you can score a good deal for yourself!

    Thank you very much!

  4. Hello,

I am considering a last minute cruise to Bermuda on the Gem. I have been checking the prices the last few weeks and they are always the same. As the cruise gets closer, will the price drop at all? There still appears to be many empty cabins. Thanks in advance for your help!

  5. It is because Carnival attracts a lower class of people, due to the cheap cruise prices. Not judgein just sayin. Sometimes it is fun to see all the drunks make fools of themselves. I cruise Carnival for price alone so I must put up with whatever comes aboard. Most of the time I enjoy the show.:)

I don't understand the "cheap cruise prices" comment. On our recent 7 day NCL cruise from NYC, we stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath penthouse suite with butler, etc. We are trying Carnival for the first time next summer and have booked just a regular balcony room. The CC is quite a bit MORE than NCL, although it is an 8 day vs the 7 day NCL. NEITHER cruise is what I would consider "cheap"!

  6. 300 Thread Count Sheets? I hope this has changed. We sleep on 600 thread count sheets. I can sleep on 300 but with all of the raving about the great suite amenities, I expect 600.

I don't know what the thread count was, but the bed sheets in the Garden Villa on the Gem were wonderful. In fact, it was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. I actually inquired about the brand of mattress, I want to get the same one for home! LOL!!
