If anyone has been to Amber Cove since the hurricane, how was the port? Any damage?
Amber Cove is as it has been in the past… lovely. No issues

I haven’t heard anything else. I believe they were symptomatic but minimally so, if that’s a thing. If I learn more, I’ll definitely share.

With pre tests starting the odds should be down, but if you do test positive seems like you are allowed to quarantine. Deck 2 seems to be where they quarantine.
No one can confirm much about positive covid cases as carnival isnt disclosing them publically. Havent heard if we can drive home or not.
Currently on the Horizon… sea day. Two positive cases (not us). Allegedly disembarking the two via a boat meeting us somewhere at sea at around 10:30am today.

Our check in time was 11-11:30. Arrived at 10:40. On ship by 10:55. This process was faster then when they allow Platinum on earlier. I’m onboard right now and having a great time.. minus a killer sunburn.

As with most things, there are the good and the bad. Each person must choose what is best for their circumstances. I was reluctant to cruise… but I am onboard the Horizon right now and loving every minute of it.

What you are being told is leaps and bounds in the opposite direction from the information I’m receiving from many sources.
I hope my sources are correct. 😉

Yes.

I’ve been to Amber Cove many times. The zip lines are fun regardless of one’s level of experience. However, they are very much on the “beginner” level.

In this case, I do not think trying to argue the facts make any difference. If she is going to be nervous on the cruise, neither she, nor any one else in your family are going to have fun. Sometimes emotions can not always be controlled by facts and logic, they just are. If I were in that situation, and I am not sure I am the one to take advice from since I am divorced, I would reschedule to a time when everyone could enjoy the trip.
They have a jail onboard. If she becomes a Debbie Downer… off to the brig. 😉😂

I certainly understand the dilemma each of you is facing. Being vaccinated is not full proof but it’s leaps and bounds beyond the alternative. The Delta variant is in every state. There are only so many precautions one can take and still lead a normal life.
I’m on the cruise just before you and your family. I, too, have reservations. But, I want to live my best life. One never knows what the future holds. We could have a very enjoyable (and healthy) cruise and the day we get home be killed by a vicious skunk in our yard.
I hope whatever conclusion you come to is what is best for all of you.

Exactly what was said. You choose a time (formality) but show up and board.
-
Suites DO get you early access to your room. I usually arrive to the Port of Miami around 10:30-10:45. Typically onboard by 11:45.

No pub but the Red Frog & other bar / burger staples on the Lido deck are in place. She will have a Serenity deck, too. We were on the Conquest January 2017 for a back to back and will be on her again following return from dry dock.
-
Been on the Conquest four times - including one back to back. Loved it each time.
-
We also often use them... especially by getting them for 10% off. Never an issue... except some kiosks don't accept or recognize them as was the case last week during our cruise... but no biggie. The guest relations folks will help.

I've done the martini tasting on a couple voyages. With the Cheers program, you get a discount toward the tasting but the entire cost is not covered in Cheers.
Most cruises offer more than one night of tasting.
Enjoy... it's fun.

You will need to go to shore excursion desk and they will give you a print out of your cabana excursion. It will tell you where to meet when you dock. Stay in the back of the lounge. Your excursion will be called first to get off the boat.
The four of you will get off together. You then go to margaritiville to select your cabana.
Sorry... this is incorrect. Grand Turk is not a tender port. Disembark as soon as they announce it is ok to do so. Stop at Margaritaville to check in. They'll walk you to your assigned cabana, give you the key, etc. No need to inform Carnival who the cabana guests will be... anyone in your party, up to four people, is fine.
We rent them all the time.
-
I have another question.....any info on the cabanas at Margaretiville?? Do you purchase it thru the ship ? - Do you rent the cabana at Margaretiville when you get there or can you reserve before you cruise?
I read in someone's review that they rented a cabana there and any info would be appreciate.
We always rent a cabana while there. They're nothing fancy... small, one room. They have a few chairs, a coffee table, air conditioning, etc.
The perk for us is having a place to lock our valuables up, a place for shade & to cool off, and bar service. We've been pleased every time. I have cabanas booked there for my next three cruises.
They do sell out quickly but keep checking back in case someone cancels...

I didn't want to add to the "poor etiquette" string and I'm sure there are other strings out there but just wanted to hopefully start a fun thread and maybe it will bring awareness to any offenders.
What are your pet peeves, things that will spoil your own cruise. From minor annoyances to biggies?
I'll start with my two main annoying things. Note: I don't let them win and spoil my cruise, it's just annoying.

Chair hogs - Folks that get up early put their towels and an inexpensive personal item (flip flop) on multiple lounger near the pool. (my sister does this and I won't travel with her anymore, so rude). The flip side, Crew that won't do or say anything about it.
-
Rushing into the elevator before people have exited (and going in before elderly/disabled folks)
You nailed my top two pet peeves!

I'm skeptical of the list I posted, too. I don't think much time, thought, or care went into researching prices when I asked.
They also said the list varies from ship to ship.
To me, I wonder why they advertise up to $50 drinks when none come close in the prices quoted... misleading?
Anyhow, I wanted to share the above information...

I contacted Carnival to inquire and I'm pasting a response from Nandy Elie, a Carnival leader...
Hello Mr. Albaugh,
Thanks you for your patience, below are the drinks that are over $10.00

We always book a cabana. No, they're not spectacular but it's a respite, a place to secure belongings, and has good bar service.
I have a cruise in October and we are the only ship in port... and the cabanas aren't listed yet. No worries... keep checking!

Absolutely acceptable and I’d encourage you to try numerous things. There are some who, in my opinion, go overboard by ordering damn near everything from the menu… but that’s not my business.
I always order a couple of extra things.
