That's the way to do it on EVERY cruiseline. We almost always never had extra onboard charges (yes,we are THOSE kind of cruisers) other than gratuities and casino slot charges. So there would be no charges that a casino host could 'wipeout',which technically they could do without notifying you. That's when, like you,on the last day we asked if we gambled enough for us to get some spending money to buy some souvenirs from the onboard shops. The casino hosts,on every cruiseline, will give us the exact amount we can spend, and then we go to the shops and buy stuff. A couple of years ago on a family Christmas cruise my husband,on the last day of the cruise had accumulated enough comps that he gave everyone in our family, 9 of us, $70 each to spend in the shops. It was a happy surprise to everyone in the family!

They also comped my wife and I for cherry on top for the grands

Seems like every cruise is now a premier, ultra or elite.  We usually just book a regular casino offer and every time it’s been one of the hosted events.

hope not on my next cruise, tired of hearing matilda the cash cow, hott hott hott hot seats, and where are all my elite cruisers,

I loved the Horizon! I am curious about the area right near the port in La Romana. When I was there a few years ago they were doing construction on what looked like it would be a port area very similar to Amber Cove. I am curious if you could give me an update on it.

I am looking forward to your review!

I was on the cruise, just got back Sunday, I did go to the new area they just finished, It is a mini me of Amber cove, except there is no splash zone for kids, other than a small pool they can use. the umbrella's are like amber cove, ask for one, but have to pay for it, restaurant is open, swim up bar in pool is open, so will have many that partake, but not many that will do a bathroom break. Not as many chairs like amber cove, so it will be a rush to get a spot. so recommend be on of the first ones off if you want a chair. clean bathrooms,, It is nice, just small, ask me anythig you want about it, and I will try and answer.

The one perk I wish they would change is the free drink at seaday Brunch, it clogs up Brunch with DImond/Plat all wanting there free drink. It would be alivated by making that free drink be good at any bar/any time.

diamond luncheon with the captain, free drinks all around, seen people order 5 to take back to their rooms,  I just ordered 3, one for each hand and one that I drink lol

Carnival's loyalty program is nothing special.  People cruise on Carnival because they like the Carnival product.  Diamond on Carnival is nothing like Diamond, Diamond + and especially Pinnacle on Royal. If Carnival added another level above Diamond, then they would have to offer upgraded amenities that would go against the business model that everyone is the same and no one is more important than a first timer.  Sure, we get benefits, but they aren't eye opening.

    thought we were vifp's

I’m breaking all of my self-imposed rules, anyway. In an effort to sail as cheaply as possible as a solo cruiser in June, I’m letting Carnival pick my inside cabin (never allowed this before and I’ve only sailed inside on 2 prior cruises out of 11); I’m also flying in the DAY OF the cruise instead of the day before. Please pray for me! 😱🛳️

hopefully not an obstructed view inside cabin.
